Reviewed July 22, 2012

A serene location bang on the highway enroute to Manali, just 3 kms before Mandi.Whether you are on business trip or staying over for a night enroute to Manali, this beautifull property will make sure you would come back.

Very friendly staff, great vegetarian food, large spacious neat & clean rooms.Value for Money, not very pricey.

The hotel is built on the bank of the river and has great ambience .It is located 2-3 kms ahead of city and has new construction.Rooms are decent and is spacious .The amenties are average as it does not have Tea Coffee Maker. and hotel does not have Entertainment centre .It is purely vegeterian hotel .The pricing is decent .Good for stay with family.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing river.

We stayed for a night on route to Manali from Delhi. The place is nice, and probably the only good place available on the whole route. They are a bit pricey for the value offered because of this. Everything is good. it is a little laid back, so please do not expect service of a big city business hotel. Excellent hotel. Good value.

It is not always easy to find a good enough place for a halt travelling on a Highway. Visco fits the bill. Many comments have already been given like, Good view, good food, problems of going down 20-30 feet to your room, problems of hot water and non availabilty of early morning tea. All these are not wrong.
I will add that it is not located on a river but on a minor water stream which creates water pools of stagnant water and resultant moss on it here and there. Mercifully it is not stinking. I saw even small kids enjoy crossing it on stones lined in it.
As Mandi has MSL height of 900 Mts evenings are pleasent even in hot June, and so we settled for a Non A.C room. It was latter I realised the advantage of being in a Non A.C room. Much before my alarm at 5am could go, Singing Thrush gave me the Wake Up Call, and slowly other birds joined to complete the Orchestra.
Thanks to the small electric kettle I carry,(as such hotels normally dont give tea before 7am), I made myself a Cup of tea, and started off early on my onward journey in a good mood thanks to the bountiful Nature all around VISCO

Luckily we only spent one night here. The room was ok, but it was freezing cold and there was no heating. The switch for the air-con / heater is located outside on the balcony (???) but it wouldn't work. We got soaked running to our room from the restaurant, but we had no hot water to take a shower in. We kept the tap running for quite a bit, but still no hot water.

The food wasn't that great either. I wouldn't have wanted to spend more than one night here.

As soon as we arrived to the Resort we knew that we would enjoy it here. We walked quite a few set of stairs to our room but since we had a porter carrying our luggage this did not matter to us. Our room with twin beds was very nice with a balcony that overlooked the river and mountains. The view was lovely and the balcony a nice place to sit and relax. The garden where one could sit on the river's edge was very tranquil. The resort is on a busy main road but with the peaceful sound of the river you do not hear any traffic noise which makes for a quiet night and good night sleep. The mattress and pillows very hard and not at all comfortable for us, but we find this at a lot of hotels in India. Since it was getting a bit cold there was a heater for us in the room and warm blankets. The TV worked great and also had BBC news and ESPN to watch some sports. Not often we are lucky enough to have these stations in India. We enjoyed the Vegetarian food at breakfast and dinner and did not miss having non-vegetarian food for our two night stay since everything we ordered was delicious.
The staff was very friendly and courteous and always making sure that everything was alright with our meal since some of the waiters did not speak English. We had no problem whatsoever except the hot water for a shower in the morning. At 7:30am on waking we would have no hot water. We would then call reception and I think we must have woke someone up to ask them to turn on the hot water. They told us to keep the water running for some time before the hot water would come through the line but this did not happen. When we called them back they then came into our bathroom to adjust something leaving a dirty floor since the bathroom floor was wet. I was still in bed so my husband cleaned the floor so that I would not see the dirt. Ok now we had hot water! The next morning it all started over again with the same procedure. We had mentioned the night before that we like to shower at 7:30 and then have breakfast early but this obviously was overlooked since noone is awake to look after this. I think that by the sounds of it they don't turn the water on until later since it seems most Indians are not early risers. We noticed this since we were always the first for breakfast and finished before any other guests would arrive.
Each morning while we were seated for breakfast the staff was still washing the floor of the dining room with a strong smelling cleaning agent which was unpleasant. I would recommend that the best thing would be to have breakfast at 9:00am so that by then everything would be in order.
One thing that we really appreciated is that they had a place for our driver to stay and was able to eat there as well.
We enjoyed our stay and recommend this Resort to anyone enjoying nature and a peaceful sleep.

Room Tip: The Building with the Balconies overlooking the river.
