I have recently had a 2n/3 days holiday trip to Suryavilas in the Month of October. It's good property as recommended by various reviewers. Some of the key highlights of the resort:
1. Good staff and always ready to help
2. A mini theater where you can select and watch a movie of your choice....a feature which is generally not found in many resorts
3. A separate room for kids with variety of toys and a caretaker

Overall a good experience but I would recommend this place only if you are planning to relax as there is nothing in the vicinity to roam around. I wish the food menu had more varieties.

Tip for the travelers- Avoid going there after sunset as the road leading to resort is in a mess

We went to suryavilas after very strong recommendations from a couple of friends and were not disappointed. Its a beautiful property nestled in the hills, very secluded and peaceful. We were a large group with 4 rooms, our entire family which included young children . We all came back impressed with the high standard of quality in terms of service and food. The resort was completely booked but getting a buggy to our room or the service in the restaurant never disappointed. Few of us also tried the spa. It was good and relaxing. We had requsted the hotel to organise a barbeque on the first night and the food was superb. If one has a sweet tooth, one is literally spoilt for choice as the selection is very good and fresh. The road is rocky and a little narrow at some points. Moreover I believe that it is getting remade now. There was a lot of construction on the way but in an organised manner. Its also not a busy road with a lot of heavy traffic that one needs to be overly concerned. The recreational centre for the children is also good with a qualified nurse. They also have a TT table and a pool table. We never got down to trying it out but I believe they also have a private theatre for screening movies of your choice. Our entire family came back thoroughly pampered. On our second evening, the lady who owns the resort organised a get together for us by the poolside on our request. She stays at the resort itself and mingles with the guests. We all watched the beautiful sunset and were served delicious snacks and tea...I would definitely recommend this place as a family holiday. The rooms are spacious with toiletries and a bathroom with a sky light. Its divine when natural light just floods the room and bathrooms once the blinds are opened. I really can't seem to recommend this place enough as we had a great time. Please don't come here looking for loud music and a DJ. You wouldn't be doing justice to the natural beauty and serenity that this place has to offer. We all wanted a place where we could relax with the family and play games and stuff and this place served the purpose perfectly!

During the peak of summer, I visited this property basis feedback from fellow reviewers. Though Solan has nothing notable to offer, but Surya villas is an excellent destination for a short break. The rooms are well appointed & modern, amenities are well maintained, a good pool & the food is very good. Room service is prompt & the boys are very courteous, despite the fact that the resort was fully packed but this did not impact the service or food quality. Also, since the property is well spread, you don’t feel over crowded even during peak season. They have a very well spread kids area with all possible toys for kids between 2-10 years of age. Evenings are very quiet & the view from balcony is good as well. The only thing that goes against Surya villas is the garbage dump located on-route to swimming pool/main restaurant, the stink can kill your appetite & burn your nostrils. The temp, doesn’t favor you either as Solan is not located much high up in the hills, so you have a/c's running 24x7. Temp in June was around 30C, but I must say the overall experience of the resort off-sets this low altitude short coming.
Tip: Option for all meals inclusive package as you don’t have anything unless a drive till Dharampur. Also, a la carte menu is over-priced, all meal package will include buffet which has an extensive spread..

Room Tip: Choose a room closer to activities / pool & restaurant, it a daunting up-hill walk (carts arent very prompt) as this area is clustered together higher up.

We went to suryavilas after very strong recommendations from a couple of friends and were not disappointed. Its a beautiful property nestled in the hills, very secluded and peaceful. We were a large group with 7 rooms, our entire family which included young children and older people with one handicapped person. We all came back impressed with the high standard of quality in terms of service and food.
