“What a great place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

We were booked here by our tour company and having seen it on Tripadvisor I was a bit concerned seeing some of the previous reviews. I didn't need to worry, some people obviously need something to complain about but we couldn't fault Prainha.Either way, staying in a standard room or cottage (seen both) it is a very relaxing place to stay in Goa. Close enough to Panjim and to be able to see whatever sights take your fancy, far enough away from the crazies staying in the regular tourist destinations on the north and south sides of Goa. Spent 1 week here after 4 weeks in northern India, came from the madhouse that is Rajasthan/Agra/Varanasi (not hot water/air conditioning etc.) to here and don't regret a minute. Sitting in the shade under the palms around the pool area eating great food and cheap drinks, what more could you want to relax. Yes, it can be a fair hike from your room down to the pool and dining area but the view, especially at sunset makes it all worth while. The service everywhere was great starting with reception all the way through the food and drink staff, the cleaning staff and even the pool boy. Everybody seemed genuinely happy to see you. The beach is another bonus, we were here for Holi and the people on the beach were amazing. This is one resort I would recommend to all my friends, it may not suit the youngsters/rave scene types that are better off in Baga or Calangute but for a relaxing stay in the sun Prainha will do me nicely.

Room Tip: As "sharreb" stated the standard rooms are a bit like an apartment block with lots of stai...

Firstly i'm reviewing for a standard room- not cottages. It's like an apartment block; 3 floors up. You have to walked up the stairs and its dimly lit, a little dusty and there's no view. Service was moderate, most could speak and understand English. Checking in was a tad slow with our business group of 9.

Rooms: Floors are clean and spacious but everything else is mediocre and basic though the room cost 47000 indian rupees so i'm not sure its worth it. Bed sheets clean but blankets are not the type for people with allergies like me. So i used the towel as blankets. I had two single bed instead of queen. Its single-single and not super-single size. TV had quite a lot of channels.

Plus:
its near to the Dona Paula viewpoint jetty area.
The breakfast area faces d bay-beach area and with a light breeze it's calming and nice

Note
There's only 1 key and it comes with the keychain that you need to slot in to turn on the electricity supply. You need to remove the key from the chain, locked your doors and put it back.

Cons:
- Some rooms have problems with the door- keeps getting stuck
- A colleague keep have issues with his AC, some wiring problem that the repairman have to come twice in two days to fix
- No complementary WiFi, but you can purchase a coupon- lasting 24hours but signal is not great- better in some rooms and not in others
- Mobile network really poor but i dont think its a problem with the hotel, more like in the entire area

Room Tip: Request rooms with view- not much sense to stay in Prainha- known as resort by the sea to get a room...

its a must visit resort if you ask me. i was awe struck when i checked into the resort with my wife for our honeymoon. the location is breath taking just the one one would dream of spending their honeymoon at least me. The resort has a very cosy feeling to it in terms of ambiance and the way the resort is designed architecturally blending with its surroundings which is a small Private beach to one side and small hillock to the other. a beautiful swimming pool, a Restaurant which serves good food, well priced, with all the competition around. if you want to relax and have a rejuvenating holiday this is the place to be in Goa. i didn't want to leave but then that's how it has to be, but the next time i am in goa no way i am missing a trip to PRAINHA RESORT BY THE SEA.

Room Tip: ask for the beach facing room, its the best, but if you don't get one, since they are in big dem...

Dona Paula is an isthmus between 2 rivers - Zuri and Mandovi. There is a small harbour and a jetty point. And Prainha is at a stone throw from this point.
This visit to Goa was to attend a conference in Oct 2007. We had done our bookings from Bangalore.
The cottages are the best accommodation here, overlooking the beach. The resort shares its surroundings with a precipitously- walled cove of the beach. The restaurant is on an estuary and the pool is lovely.

The staff need to maintain the resort in all aspects. Although, they are friendly, they are not well organised and the services come to you at a very slow pace. You also have rodents in the cottages to keep you company at night and also savor your food, while you are fast asleep. My friend's Bebinca (Goan preparation) was well chewed by this rat, which we discovered the next morning, when we were about to check out. The resort manager was benevolent enough to replace the bebinca with a new one, and expressed that we were lucky to escape from just a rat, as there were also reptiles doing their rounds (at times) within the rooms!!!

Food variety is not that great and vegetarians beware!! Breakfast was slightly better and included quite a few South-Indian preparations. I thought 4.5k, back in 2007, was a little expensive for this resort with laid-back services.

Room Tip: Opt for cottages and not the hotel units!

I was booked at another hotel by visiting their website on the internet (L Hotel Eden), which was a disaster. I ended up at Prainha as a last resort and didn't expect much based on some of the reviews here. What a relief! Prainha staff was excellent, courteous and prompt, really trying to please all of the guests (here for Diwali) in every way.

I met the owner and she truly has the best interests of her guests at heart. One of the senior employees, Terrence, as particularly helpful with everything from pool access to temporary problems with the internet (which is pretty decent). I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor for a better view and more modern conveniences.

Me and my wife wanted to find a quiet and cozy place where we could go for a quiet drink and dinner. We both being hoteliers we really wanted to be away from the night spots famous in Panaji. This was one of the reasons we went to Prainha. This resort is so well hidden and has a stunning view. Fortunately for us the place was not busy at all with only a couple of tables occupied and we choose the table by the sea side. Mind you the service is not something that i would boast about. There was one chef and one waiter for the entire duration that we were there. The service was the slowest that i have expereinced anywhere else, but we really didnt mind. Actually we were counting on the slow service so that we could just spend some relaxed quality time together. There is not a sould in sight and you have the waves mreaking in front of you. So if you looking for something which is not so great on service but serves great food and leaves you alone to have a good time do visit.

I stayed at the Prainha for 3 days, for a wedding party. the resort is very charming, laid back and right on the beach. the rooms are clean and open out on to a little terrace. the beach is a small strip but is safe to take a dip. the service is so-so, and the food not so good. but is was reasonably priced in high season, so all in all good value for money
