“Fun with the sheep”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

This was a very fun and funky place for a management offsite. First, there are certain things that this place does not have - pool, centralised concierge, room service type stuff. But it does have a set of excellent bedrooms for a management event, and good rooms and facilities for workshops and so on. I would definitely recommend it for a conference. The bedrooms are great fun. I had a sheep rocking horse in my room, sheepskin lampshades and a lovely soft bed with crisp white linen. The room was large and airy and the bathroom was very modern. My only complaint - the bathroom area doesn't have a door, just a screen .... Fine as I was on my own, but if I'd have been here with a spouse, less comfortable. Connectivity was good throughout, wifi was in the rate. Breakfast was excellent, the bar stayed open to accommodate "water cooler gossip" and the evening that they did dinner for us was tasty and well presented. This is a very funky building - a sort of thatched aircraft hangar but they pull it off and it is a fun place to gather.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor have high vaulted ceilings and are very airy. Face away from the road if you...

We stayed in one of the comfort suites (rm 12). Big room, wel designed. Mix between old look and modern style. Waterboiler + coffee/tea facilities in the room. Flatscreen tv, 2 seperate large (90cmx120cm) beds. Clean room, bathroom equiped with hairdryer and shaving mirror + soaps etc (Rituals!!), also 2 bathrobes to use. Climate control! Shower/toilet area is in the room, seperated by a glass screen (toilet is seperated by a frost look screen). Seating area outside with lounge set. Restaurant has a good menu, good food (we had the 3 course surprise dinner and we couldn't have chosen a better menu), good breakfast. Restaurant also has several large lounge sets to relax and have a drink. Modern style furniture in an old look typical farm building - fits nicely in this area. Very friendly staff!!! Also noticed a fitness area in the hotelbuilding, we did not use it so cannot rate. Does not look like a typical hotel, more of a cottage style building, apartment instead of hotelroom. We definitely will go go back one day!

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor have a seating area outside.

Just spend one night here but is was excellent. Dinner was lovely. I don't know about breakfast because I left very early. Beautiful spacious room and a lovely bedlight. If you have the change (and money) take one of the bigger rooms. It's a pity there is no tea or coffeemaker in the room.

I was so very pleasantly surprised. Even though I read excellent reviews of the hotel, I figured just how good could it be for just 43 Euro a night plus 16,5 euro for breakfast. The answer is ..... very, very good.
Everyone from the front desk to the kitchen staff to the cleaning personnel were as friendly and helpful as I have ever experienced. There was a problem with the heat and the room was quite cold. I called the front desk and they brought a space heater in about 60 seconds.

Free parking. Excellent free WIFI connection. Clean spacious room. Breakfast spread very nice with plenty to eat. Bed is great. Several sizes of towels provided,.

Without question, this is my choice of hotel every time I am in the area.

I am a solo traveler. If traveling with a friend or business associate, staying in the same room would be uncomfortable because the way the bathroom/shower is designed .... there is a lack of privacy in the sink and shower area and the only way to get any degree of privacy while using the toilet is to pull the shower door back to function as a door while using the toilet.

But as I said, being a solo traveler it was perfect for me and should also be fine for a couple.

I want to congratulate the staff of this hotel for being so very customer oriented and giving service that is above and beyond what is standard in the industry. These people really seem to enjoy interacting with their guests.

The hotel is a bit off the beaten track and really requires a private car which I had. From there it is only 5 minutes to a shopping center and the middle of Nijerk which has a beautiful outdoor shopping area and restaurants. About 20 minutes to the center of Amersfoort when traffic on highway is not backed up at rush hour.

Could use a coffee maker in the room....

I spent 1 full week there.
the Hotel is very noce and confortable.
rooms are big and well designed, with old fashioned furniture and modern style lovely mixed togheter.

unfortunately the restaurant is VERY expensive and the food is way far from my taste preferences.

with approx 5 euro you can get a taxi to the city center, where you can enjoy some pubs and restaurants

We (mum and daughter) stayed 15th and 16th June in a room on the first floor of this comfortabel hotel which was situated opposite the restaurant. Reception is at the bar of the restaurant. When we arrived later in the evening and checked in very quickly because dinnertime was over. The spacious room had very good beds, but less good pillows. In the room is a modern bathroom that is devided from the rest of the room by a glass wall. We quess that for instance colleaques sharing a room would need more privacy. The showerbassin that could not completely process the waste water which led to pouring water on the floor. There is a wooden stand alone cupboard, not very large but enough for weeekend things. A flat screen TV and armchairs completed the interior of the comfortabel room. There are no coffee&tea facilities or a minibar. The windows can be totally blinded, so no daylight is coming into the room. No troubles with traffic or other noises because we kept the windows shut down. Breakfast was really good and tastefull, our compliments! We can commend this hotel to everybody who likes a surprise and a smile. De Roode Schuur is a (marriage)party and congress/event location.

Extra marks for the great design of the rooms and the restaurant/bar/breakfast area. Very spacious, quiet rooms with good beds. The hotel is just outside Nijkerk so you're kind of in the countryside, very quiet. I tried the restaurant and wasn't impressed, decent breakfast though., Considering the very favourable price, I can only recommend this hotel.
