“Just don't lock yourself out of your room!”
Reviewed January 8, 2010

Lovely hotel. The room was clean, spacious, well decorated. The staff were friendly and genuinely helpful - they came to collect us from Amsterdam on the first night when we were lost trying to find our way to the hotel. Only two warnings really.

1. If you go out onto the terrace / balcony at night make ABSOLUTELY SURE that you do not shut the door behind you! There is nobody at reception at night to help you out, so if you have been in Amsterdam enjoying the bars and the cafes, please please please do keep your wits about you regarding those doors. You do not want to have to sleep in reception. Especially in the summer. The hotel is near to water and there are a lot of mozzies in reception at night.

2. As people have already mentioned, it would be ideal to stay in this hotel only if you have a car. However, we did not have a car and we managed quite well using a mixture of leg power and public transport. Be warned though - it is quite a long walk (although a very pleasant one), especially if you get lost, so take proper directions and maybe some water. If you want to enjoy the nightlife in the city centre you will not be able to as the last bus is a little after midnight. If you just want to wander around Amsterdam during the day however, and have a nice, friendly, quiet place to sleep at night, then this is the place for you. It is cheap and MUCH nicer than a hostel.

Stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute of it, hotel was clean, staff were friendly, would recommend to friends, in fact going back later in the year to take the children, my only word of advice is "you do need a car"

the place does not really deserve the name "hotel" - it is rather a motel. The room was dirty and the beds were terrible. fortunately we just had to spend there one night. the so called hotel is located right in the middle of nowhere - you need a car. The staff was quiete friendly. Avoid the dinner it is far overpriced and of terrible quality. Food in general is very expensive (cup of coffee 6.5 €) at this hotel because you can't really go anywhere else and they take advantage of this!!!. Unless you bring your one food and you don't intend to stay more than one night: I WiLL AVOID THIS PLACE! It is better to invest money in a better place to stay.

I booked this hotel as it was cheap and had parking and looked quite near Amsterdam. . . . it IS but the little town it is in is quite remote and we ended up (by following the sat nav) going down some very scary dark and deserted country roads.

When we finally got to the right road a nice lady showed us how to get to the hotel, its kind of behind all the houses.

The staff here were very friendly and could speak good english. The hotel is like an old house and very characterful and quirky. There is no lift and the stairs to the first floor are quite steap and narrow (i was carrying baby up them) the room was nice and we had an extra bed as well as there still being room for the cot. We had a tv with more than CNN - it had BBC1 and 2 !!!! rarety in europe. the bathroom had a nice showercubicle but the tray didnt drain fast enough. I got in an hour after my husband and had to stand in a tray of cold used water ugh!

The rooms are quite close and we were kept up all one night by an "amourous" couple in the room next door.

Ok but you definately need a car.

Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly, rooms are big and clean. The hotel is not far from the city centre only draw back (if it is one) there is no tea making equipment in the bedrooms (so bring your kettle). Food is good.

My husband and I drove to Amsterdam from Germany, and got a bit lost trying to find the place. It advertises a lot of amenities that it does not actually have. There is no swimming pool, no lift (elevator), and no actual garden, unless you count the patio out back (which we could not justifiably do). Also, if you are expecting a sea view then you had better be on the top floor, as we could only see the berm from our second story room.

All that being said, the lobby, breakfast room, and room were all nice. The room had traditional decor, with a small yet funtional bathroom and a t.v. with several stations. Breakfast was continental with the usual meats, cheeses, milk, yogurt and cereal. We brought our dog, which was very nice. I enjoyed staying here because we had a chance to mix with the locals and take walks every day along the local canals. If you are staying here, YOU WILL NEED A CAR TO GET DOWNTOWN. It is about a fifteen minute drive to park downtown. It's good for the value, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
