While this is not some French 3 star restaurant, it is a great restaurant for good food in a neat environment (at reasonable cost). It is in a smaller community slightly east of Rotterdam. The drive to it can be along the dike road with the interesting scenery of that route. Its location in a smaller community caused me to think that most of its business would be a relatively local clientele-------thus necessitating good food and serve. I was correct.
Our group of of 4 had 2 orders of lamb (several chops and a stew), an order of paella, and an order of short ribs. The lamb was good----especially the stew; the paella was excellent and included some large pawns; and the the short ribs were really what we call baby back ribs in the states. The serving sizes (especially for the ribs) were quite generous. The ribs themselves were also excellent. Also served with the entrees was a plate with fried potatoes, larger french fried potatoes, and some salad. I also started my meal with a soup called Irish
Creme something. It had nothing to do with Irish Creme liquor, but was a lobster type bisque topped with what might have been whipped creme. Whatever it was, it was excellent.
Finally, we had the house specialty desert--------a strawberry concoction made at the table involving a strawberry liquor and vodka!! It was outstanding.
Throughout our meal, we had good and quite friendly service without people hoovering over us.
The building doesn't look like much from the front, but it has a cozy front room, a larger backroom, and a wonderful outdoor area surrounded with hedges and flowers.
Highly recommended and well worth a little driving.
