What a special place this was! We were with a travel group VBT and we were treated like rock stars. I agree with others the age of the building did add to the charm...esp the special tub..shower we were luck enough to get. What a special stay, right down to the kittys and the puppy of the house. They have house wine on tap!

Room Tip: Upper floors had outdoor decks for viewing

We stayed here as part of a VBT bicycling vacation. First the good: This was a magnificent farm. Our room, which consisted of an enormous bedroom, decorated beautifully and an enormous bathroom, with two sinks, a tub with shower hose and a separate shower, was very comfortable. It also smelled of sachet (not lavender), so was just lovely to open up the door and come into that environment. We were delighted to have a gift of a bottle of wine waiting for us on the dresser.

The food was excellent as was the wine, which was complimentary for our group at dinner.

Now the bad: Internet connection was ridiculous. There was a hot spot at the pool, but the pool area would be locked at 7:00 p.m. My husband would have to scale a fence with the laptop in order to get closer to the pool area and the hot spot. Management said that there were other hot spot areas on the premises, but the signal was very erratic.

Now the ugly: Early one evening, after a sweaty day of biking, I get into the shower and turn on the water - nothing. No water! So I play with both the hot and cold - still no water. I get into the tub, turn on the shower hose - just a trickle, then no water. I go to the sink - a trickle, then no water. About 10 minutes later the water finally came on in the shower- apparently I had it turned on and it was a good thing I hadn't left the room -and was either freezing or scalding. I checked later, and several of the rooms had no water at that time. As for the freezing or scalding part, it was like that the three days we were there.

This hotel or b & b, however you want to categorize it, was charming. our room was large and comfortable and although they weren't completely in the air conditioning mode yet, they worked hard to accommodate the american's need for ac. the shower in the tub was quite unique and small, but it made for some great laughs and pictures! The food was very good, massi and lucia were very helpful and a pleasure to see each morning. The pool was beautifully maintained and welcome end to a hot day on our bicycles. Their store and produce stand were well stocked with their products and we really enjoyed seeing locals coming in to buy supplies and groceries. It was a very nice place to stay on this type of vacation.

What an amazing place! The estate was established long ago, in the 1300's I think, and restored around 1910. My family stayed on the third floor, which had large common areas, a terrace, and bedrooms off to the sides. I swear the room that my wife and I stayed in was larger than my bedroom at home, and we have a large bedroom. The windows have the old wooden shutters, and our room overlooked the courtyard. The restaurant makes amazing food, and their wine is superb. They sell all sorts of local food in the market, and you can fill your own wine bottle from their barrels for €1,10/litre. I don't know if everyone gets the same deal, but our group had free wine and bottled water for our entire stay. How great is that?

Room Tip: The third floor has large common areas, and the second floor is more typical of a hotel.

OK, so maybe it was because the weather was splendid.....or because the group we rode bicycles with each day was such a great mix of people. Maybe any bed on which we were to rest our weary bones after a 30-mile bike ride would have been comfortable. And about the food - were we so hungry that we were willing to eat anything served? You know, it could be a combination of some or none or all of the above......but more than anything, our 4-night stay at La Parrina was an experience that will always remain in my heart. It was a trip back in time.

We met and chatted with the Marchesa whose grandfather once owned this 1200-acre farm. We drank the wine produced on her estate and nibbled on the cheeses that were made there. The produce - fruits and vegetables - all grown there were in season, wonderfully ripe and prepared to perfection.

We sat outdoors and dined by candlelight on the covered patio and slept in rooms furnished with antiques..........oh, the antiques! All around - in cozy sitting areas, guest rooms, dining rooms. Lovely!!

You'd have to have a heart of stone to not be taken in by the ambiance of the centuries old inn that once housed the workers of the farm. The rooms are named after them. They're different in size and in decoration - some more spectacular than others.

The property has its own chapel and a store from which you can purchase the yield of the farm's crops or the wine from its vineyards. Swim in the pool or just walk the grounds.

We were sad to leave and will be joyful upon our return.

An avenue of eucalyptus tress ,driving through the orchards brings you to this beautiful original estate house of centuries ago La Parrina working organic farm .
We loved walking around the beautiful vineyards olive orchards and visiting the market.
A tour of the cheese house was very interesting.
The produce is used in the wonderful menu at the restaurant and buffet breakfasts and lunches.

The setting is magnificent.
