Since we were already at the hotel, we ordered room with kitchen, for a friend who came with us and for us. The rooms are excellent, although they were in the front of the road, they are completely silent. The kitchen is fully equipped, so we saved a lot of money by buying food in a supermarket about half a kilometer from the hotel room' and cooking at the room .the hotel is nearTerme Erding, Munich city, highway and frequent field so that their location is excellent, the hotel has a parking.

Room Tip: Room with a kitchen can save quite a bit of money

The hotel is located at Eching close to Munich. The price is lower than the prices in the center of Munich. The rooms are large and the facilities in the hotel are in high quality relative to the money you pay. The best thing is to buy a daily tickets family for one or three days to the city of Munich. It is possible to buy it in the hotel. The hotel is located in about 15 minutes to Munich Airport so if you are with car it is very convenient. The breakfast is excellent and there is also a great restaurants for dinner. The staff is well known with several languages and they're very friendly. A Wi-Fi is free.

Room Tip: Rooms that turns to the highway are a little noisy.

This old Bavarian style hotel is OK. My husband stays frequently and now we stayed together, but were disappointed. We arrived just after 7pm, but the restaurant was alreday closed, though people were dining on the terrace, but since the german footbal WK final was at 9pm, no more kitchen, we walked through town, but only an overcrowded beer garten was available to eat, so we enden up at Mc Donalds. We asked for a quiet room, but were given a 2nd floor room, in a corner, on 2 streets, which was very noisy to say the least. The bathroom was not well cleaned, a soap of the former guest was still in the bath and the garbige bin was not emptied either and overfull. It was hot and no airconditioning, which is strange, as it can get real hot in the summer in Bavaria. all but all a bit disappointing, but the brakfast was great and that is what you then remember, but I think it needs some better managing.

Room Tip: make sure you are on teh inner rooms, facing teh larger parking if you want a quiet room

There were only two cons to this hotel. There was no air conditioning & it was next to construction. Otherwise, it was wonderful. The room was large & nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly & helpful. The restaurant was awesome. The free breakfast was AMAZING. It is located 30 minutes out of Munich but a 10 minute walk to a station. We enjoyed the trip in & out. Viewed it as "real life" experience. Requested a quiet room, away from the road.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road.

Dear readers,
My family and I just returned yesterday from Munich and I like to share with you the above hotel.
All the staff is very polite, helpful and friendly.
The room is very spacious and it is clean.
The breakfast buffet was very fresh and healthy and really nice.
You have a choice of sitting outside or inside.
The only 2 problems were the internet connection was very poor and all 4 of us kept sitting by the entrance or in the wc as the internet was working perfectly there.
The other issue... It was hot and there is no air-condition, but the friendly receptionist brought us a big fan and we slept close to it, by getting our mattresses on the floor and we opened the window.

It is not far from the airport and with a car you are quickly everywhere.
It is a quiet place, and clean.

Golden Tulip Olymp, Eching, Germany

A perfect hotel located just outside Munich and a perfect place to stay. The rooms are very nice and cozy but please be aware that the shower/tub combo is something of a hazard as most European tubs are.

The greater part of bath tubs in euroland are very odd being far higher sided and the tub floor is some inches above the level of the bathroom floor. This place is no different. This makes entry and exit a serious issue for older or limited movement folks in part because there are NO grab handles anywhere! Oddly, they do not have either shower curtains or fully closing glass doors. Typically there is a small sheet of glass some 18 inches wide directly beside the shower head and the valve below, but it does not go very high. The other two thirds of the tub are wide open which means that while you shower water splashes all over the bathroom floor and beyond which leaves a slippery mess! This hotel has the same style bath/shower arrangement. How crazy!

We stayed at four-star hotels of which this is one and is very nice for the most part except that it seems that europeans have nothing larger than what we call “twin” sized beds. (think early American TV shows where bedroom scenes *always* showed separated twin beds for married couples) Anyhoo, the beds were very comfy ‘nuff, but hardly suited for overnight hugging and squeezing while sleeping of which we are so accustomed to on king sized beds. BUT! It is Europa and they do things differently there. One just adapts. Hug and squeeze in one twin bed until one of you falls off and then simply go to the other twin bed, lick your wounds, and go to sleep. You can enter the other bed in the morning and hug and squeeze until one of you falls out again.

Toilets come in all shapes and sizes in Europa and NONE OF THEM WORK worth a darn! If you engage in a real good number-two you can expect to flush that sucker a half dozen times and still not get it all down. It is insane! NONE OF THEM WORK! Not even at this delightful hotel. BUT! I am not blaming the hotel because this is the way it is over there.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating and run the place with typical German efficiency. We loved them! This hotel, like many others of its quality, put out a very nice breakfast buffet. They have plenty of typical euro offerings at the buffet which includes assorted cheeses, various processed hams, delightful breads and pastries, butter, jams, jellies plus plenty of whatever fruits they may have and juices like orange and apple and grape. This buffet is different because common bacon is actually fried almost crisp which is contrary to many places in Europa that put out barley wilted and limp lukewarm and highly inedible bacon. Three cheers! This place also seems to provide scrambled eggs that are almost done as opposed to other places that put out runny, slimy and nasty scrambled eggs. Three cheers!

Would we return to the Olymp? Yes, we would! We loved it! It is Germany and they do things differently but we give it two thumbs up no matter what.

I needed to add an extra day in Munich at the start of my trip and my previously booked hotel was full so I managed to book one night at this hotel. Lets start with the +'s : Staff are excellent and very, very friendly (not always the case in Germany), Restaurant is superb (excellent quality at reasonable prices), Breakfast buffet was extensive and offered everything you could possibly desire, Wifi works well even in the most remote parts of the hotel, Nice health club with sauna, spa, hot tubs, etc.

There are only really two issues stopping me from giving this hotel an EXCELLENT rating; Rooms are small & don't have A/C, which I think could be a problem in the summer.

I was in an attic room (179) and had to be careful when getting out of bed, as I could hit my head on the sloping ceiling ! I think the size of the room would become a problem if I was staying for more than one or two nights. Having said that, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom/shower functional and the work desk fulfilled my requirements.

If I wanted a hotel nearer the airport, for one or two nights, this would be top of my list. And if I was staying near by I would return to the restaurant just to dine here.
