Helps to have some Spanish language if staying here but the staff are friendly and helpful even if you are like me and only know some basic phrases. The hotel itself is magnificent. Rooms are spacious and airy with real character. The common areas are charming and peaceful. Well worth putting on your itinerary, the hotel is an attraction in itself. Could not recommend highly enough.

Definitely not a 2 star hotel. 4 or 5 stars for sure. An integral part of one of the most amazing monasteries we've ever visited, my wife and I were in heaven during the two nights here. The magnificent consistoire where we had breakfast, drinks, and dinner, the immense bedroom with modern bath (and cool despite a daytime temperature hovering around 40° C), the easy access to the monastery were all features. And the price was quite irresistable, particularly when compared with the parador almost next door, a lovely spot, but no better and at about twice the price. This place deserves be rated as one of the best hotel buys in Spain.

We went to Guadalupe at the conclusion of our four-town, Extremadura tour (Merida, Caceres, Trujillo, Guadalupe). First, the drive from Trujillo on a lonely two-lane road was scenic and relaxing. The main reason to visit Guadalupe is to tour the monastery and see the Black Virgin of Guadalupe. The Hospederia is literally connected to the monastery. Over the centuries the space has been used for a variety of purposes; now as an hotel it provides quality service, up to date amenities, spacious rooms in an historic 17C atmosphere. As we found with our stay in Trujillo, actually staying in an historic building in an ancient town presents you with a new set of feelings and experiences. Our entire experience at the Hospederia Real Monasterio was wonderful. .

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the mountains. We were on the top floor with 20-ft ceilings.

It was a lovely opportunity to stay in such a historical building. As the hotel was listed as 2 star I had thought that it might be a bit spartan, but that was certainly not the case, it was very comfortable. We arrived on a rather cold May Day, but the heating soon warmed the room up and the dinning room was warm as well. We had a spacious room with a small balcony. We loved the view from the window, we were looking on to some of the monastery turrets. I did not want to close the shutters. We ate in the restaurant and had delicious 3 course meal and a bottle of wine for 17 euros each, extremely good value for money. There was a good breakfast buffet in the morning. Overall it was a very good overnight stop. We did the tour of the monastery and walked the town, following the plaques of the town trail. Both were well worth doing, The countryside round about was very attractive.

We stayed here with a group trip, an unbelievable place, how it is only two star was beyond us.
Everything about the place, tells me that I should not be able to afford it.
Our room was palatial with great mountain views.
The whole ambience of the place oozed tranquility, we would like to have stayed longer.

If you want to feel that you traveled thru time stay here. The rooms are very big with very high ceiling overlooking the city, outside the room you have a square gallery overlooking the interior patio, where , particularly at night, you can let you mind travel thru pass centuries. Very quiet place with big rooms with modern bathroom and comfortable beds. In Guadalupe stay here you sleep where the monks used to sleep and probably are still sleeping today.

Room Tip: Third floor overlooking the patio

We spent a very happy week here in late March 2013. The atmosphere was amazing, tranquility would be the word best describing our stay. The large bedroom was very good with an equally large bathroom with views over to the occasionally snowy topped mountains. The breakfast was a buffet style and sometimes with hot meats and scrabbled eggs.
We were a bit disappointed with the restaurant the first night and ended up eating in one of the local restaurants which was excellent.
A very good base for walking in the Geopark and visiting the Monfrague Park. There are a lot a very good walks starting in Guadalupe, details from the hotel or Tourism office.
