I have been to the robin on quite a number of occasions and it does what's its there to do. Provide a facility for live music at down to earth prices for tickets. As has been said before it could with a good make over and toilets are nothing to write home about but the music is the main attraction and it has reasonably high stage to see the groups.the sound system now is much better than it was and is usually at a decent volume depending on what type act you are seeing. The price of drinks is reasonable for music venue and they also do food but I have not had any food there yet.
Most of the groups are tribute bands or acts waiting to hit the big time though on occasion they do have big name acts on. It's friendly and there I have never seen any trouble there. Unlike other venues you can get right up to the stage and quiet often the groups will mingle with fans before or after they have been on stage.

Came here to see Go West with my 17 year old daughter (80's chick at heart). Venue has got to be improved. Looking rather tatty, ceilings and walls need a good scrub. As for the toilets upstairs, YUCK! is one word to describe them. As soon as you opened the door, the smell hit you, floors were sticky, ewwwwwwwwwwww. Didn't think much of the support band for Go West, most people waiting were so pleased when he went off stage. Manic depressive comes to mind! Go West need to upgrade the support or not bother. Downside is not much seating too, standing only for most of the time we were there. Feet were hurting by the time we left. Won't be going again in the near future unless improvements made!!

We had been looking forward to seeing Roy Wood being lifelong fans of the Move, ELO and Wizzard. Unfortunately the experience was ruined by the volume levels that were excruciating. The support band A Kick Up The Nineties were very poor, just a wall of noise. Roy Wood was, of course better but again the volume levels were ear splitting, totally unecessary. It looked like Roy was going through the motions and was only on stage for 1 hour and no encore. Headline bands usually perform for 2 hours although we were relieved that it was all over so quickly.

We have been to many concerts at the Robin and the volume levels have never been so uncomfortable. My ears were ringing afterwards and took 24 hours to recover. The Management should ensure that volume levels are not set at dangerous levels. I have written to the Robin stating my dissapointment but as yet have not received a response. I hope that future concerts are not a repeat of this experience.

Came up from Cardiff to see Roy Wood last night, had a beer and a burger ( very nice indeed ) in the small ( in need of some TLC ),Woody bar before the gig. The gig was a sell out, packed to the rafters, standing only, with a fantastic atmosphere. The stage is quite high ensuring everyone could see the band. If I had the venue I would improve the toilets size and standards, but apart from that it was a great experience to see a band you want to see, no good if your looking for fancy decor and silver service catering but this is an amazing live music venue. I will be going back
