Definitely far from completely natural, but impressive none the less. A marked departure from the landscape elsewhere on the island with tall, tall trees towering over the road. Learning about the origin of the forest from your guide, on-line, or in a guide book adds to the interest.

I saw this on the way to the Chocolate Hills. Very pretty but could not fully appreciate it seeing it only from the van in transit.

Thank ScottAfghanistan

The Mahogany Forest is a man-made forest, which was planted around the 1950s. It was common at the time to plant a tree for a major life event (marriage, graduation, etc.) to commemorate it. Now, the trees are counted every year and they are not allowed to be cut down and no more are allowed to be planted. It makes for an interesting drive with a mahogany forest in the middle of a tropical environment. We opted to look from the car while driving through, not really needing to stop. It is usually included in a Bohol island tour, but is just driving between other attractions.

magnificent forest formed by mother nature..The place itself makes you feel loving nature so much especially on the beauty of its formation. it's as if the trees were asked to bend altogether to form beauty and shade. Very magnificent place that you can take a glimpse for few minutes.

Driving through the Mahogany Forest on the road from Tagbilaran to Carmen offers a brief, shady and cool break in the otherwise "normal" scenery of the rural countryside. Although it does not have the diversity that would be found in a natural forest, it does give those who pass by some idea of what the island may have looked like before it was stripped of its forests.

A short stop to enjoy the cool fresh air and appreciate the trees is enjoyable. However, keep close track of children as there are some sink holes and crevices in the area which are dangerous.
