“Briilliant Way to Relax from the Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2008

The Loboc River Cruise is a mandatory stop to the "island tours" available from the airport. Our driver/tour guide drove us to the pier where we boarded one of the bamboo ferries that sail over the Loboc River. I believe we paid around P300 per person, and we also paid for the driver's lunch. I think that's cheap given the quality of the cruise. The cruise offered a buffet lunch, serving a variety of Filipino dishes that were both scrumptious and plentiful! Only comment was that the water bottles/soda they provided were very tiny, and you have to pay extra for additional drinks. There was also entertainment on board the cruise, and the waiters asked for donations after lunch to give to the band. Not only that, the ferry stopped in a dock where Loboc villagers performed traditional dance and song numbers for us. I loved that part, because the performers really showed the true culture of the Filipinos. I highly recommend this cruise because it will give the traveler more than a peek of the culture of the Filipino people - good food, fun entertainment and nice people!

“45 minutes of good value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2008

For only P300 (A$7.50 or US$8) we took a lunchtime cruise along the reasonably wide river. Trip duration was 45 minutes.

There are a selection of boats to choose from which at least on the day we travelled (in the last week of Filipino school holidays) carried continually good numbers of tourists. The boats have bamboo floors which seem sturdy even for Westerners who typically weigh more than Filipinos.

A typical boat accomodates 40 to 55. Lunch is included (buffet style) which on our boat included rice, beef shaslicks (2 pieces per stick) chop suey (mixed vegetables), chicken dishes, noodles, one drink and some small specialist Filipino desserts.
Second helpings are allowed and the food quantity was more than sufficient for about 30 people on our boat.

After 15 minutes you stop and are entertained by a group of child dancers accompanied by adult musicians. Donation boxes are provided.

The end of the forward trip has two small 'falls" (more like continuous water flowing downhill into the river.) There is plenty of vegetation and some mountainous hills nearby.

It rained heavily for 10 of our 45 minutes but the permanent boat tarpulin provided enough cover.

Riverside children like to show off: three swam to our boat and hitched a ride, while another jumped from a flying fox.

Pre booking seems unnecessary though we were not on board in true peak season around December.
