A definite must see if you are visiting Northern Greece!!! The whole archaiological site gives the impression of a tomb. It is underground and when you enter you have to give a few seconds to your eyes to adjust to the low lighting that creates an impressive atmosphere. The site encloses 4 tombs in the original position they were discovered. One of the tombs is that of Phillip II, the father of Alexander the Great. They exhibits are magnificent. The facades of the tombs impressive...A unique museum.
Make sure you have a good guide in order to make the most of your visit. Key Day Tours organise visits to the site. I didnt use them for my tour but i would recommend them as i used them in the past and they are very reliable.

Impressive! As you go underground, you can feel the energy of the ancient Macedonia. Everyone should see the place at least once in their lifetime. And I still cannot understand why the place closes down at 2:30 (actually they will not let you even earlier than that!).

A very special place with one of the best museums in Greece. Great and rich displays with English labels for the foreigners! No dislikes to be mentioned.

We traveled across Greece to see the tomb and museum but were disappointed to find it closed. The official cultural website lists the closing time as 19.00 but in fact it closes at 14.30. We were not the only vistors to be suprised and disappointed and a loud altercation took place with angry Greek vistors as it probably does every day.

For the disappointed there is excellent souvlaki at the little cafe at the top of the road.

The site is open from 8:00 to 20:00 daily except Monday, when it's open from 12:00 to 20:00. For information related to opening times and days when the museum remains closed, in the future please check our own website www.aigai.gr and not the Ministry of Culture's webpage on Aigai, as the latter is not frequently updated. Our site will be additionally available in English within the next few days.

This burial site is done in a very nice way. The museum gives you the story of how they found the tombes and then the finds of the tomb. It has very nice Archaeological finds including golden crowns that belonged to Philipus the Second the father of Alexander the Great. Worth to see this museum.
