Very friendly staff. We sat outside and enjoyed a very enjoyable meal which was neither slow or hurried. The meal was excellent. Generous portions and reasonable prices. I would eat here again.

Staying in the neighborhood of Etaples, we searched for different restaurants during the period of our stay. Few answered our mail messages. This restaurant did. We booked for Valentine's evening. Although many restaurants only give you the opportunity to take the special menu they create for that evening, this restaurant still let us the choice between the Valentine's menu and eating à la carte. The Valentine's menu was priced very reasonable (28Euro - a huge difference with other restaurants) and sounded good, so we took it. We were positively impressed. Not the most special creation possible, but good, earnest food for that very reasonable price setting. A cocktail to start with, a good first meal (2 choices), the same for the main dish (2 choices) and a very good dessert. The service was quick, friendly and very correct (my wife only took one glass of white wine and they only brought it at the right moment - for the main course - instead of dumping it up front). Only one point of attention : although we had the correct address we had difficulty locating the restaurant because its façade did not mention very clearly the name of the restaurant in the dark. All in all, we appreciated our visit quite a lot.

Superb quality, although it was Sunday and very busy we were not kept waiting just a comfortable time between each course. The reason we chose the restaurant, we watched the locals all heading in, having lived in France for many years I always found this to be a recommendation in itself.

Did a day trip from the UK over to France, and after a couple of hours purgatory in the Auchan by Jn 31 of the A16 headed to Etaples as Friday morning is Market Day. We caught the last hour or so of the market which was really nice. Lots of fruit & veg stall, shoes/boots seemed popular, and in particular a lovely looking fish stall.

I had made a note of this place (and others in different places), based on Trip Advisor reviews and as it is on the main square (where the market is) we went in. "We" being me, the lady wife, the nearly 5 yr old, the 2 and a half year old, and the 11 month old. They were welcoming enough, but didn't have a highchair for our baby (so take your own booster seat etc), and we were soon seated at a big table with the pushchair right next to us.

We both had the €18 menu (for those less familiar with French restaurants, le menu is a set meal, or perhaps 2 choices per course,. the list of dishes available is la carte), and it was really good. A big plate of prawns for me, and a sort of toasted piece of bread with local ham and cheese melted onto for the wife (really savoury and nice). Mains - i had possibly the most generous vat of moules marineres for one person I have seen, and for the better half a regional treatment to chicken of a quarter of chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce. Both adult mains served with a generous bowl of crispy frenh fries. The kids had bolognese from the childrens menu and it was a good rendition.

The little ones had ice cream, and i had the selection of cheeses, the wife 2 scoops of carte d'or ice cream.

By now i was struggling to fit it all in, but i like cheese so i powered through.

The atmosphere felt genuine, local french. We were the only people speaking English and our French is not that hot. However, whilst the waiter didn't speak any English, with much grinning and enjoyment once we got each other understood it was fine. The bill for it all including a couple of beers, waters, fruit juices etc was just shy of €70 so whilst more than we would usually spend on lunch it not not too bad as we don't usually have 3 course lunches!

I would not hesitate to recommend based on our visit as i would be delighted to go back.

We were kept waiting for about 20 minutes for 2 orders which were both wrong. There was then another irritating wait for the right dishes which, like so much French food at the moment, is sadly in decline. The frites were tasteless and wooly, steak was chewy, snails OK, bread was sliced white as from a supermarket. Wine was thin and acidic.
