“Warm and welcoming”

Beautiful and very friendly run B and B, ideal if you need a rest before going back home or on the way through France.
We have just come back this morning, my wife, myself and the in laws and we all loved it. I knew it was going to okay when we were told to just treat this as our home.
Rooms are spotless and cosy, nice shower with plenty of hot water, breakfast was a nice continental breakfast with bread, cheese, jams, fruit etc.
We would stay here again if we were going back over to France and needed a stop off.
Many thanks for your friendly service, Sean and Emma

At the end of November my husband and I stayed in the Villa Vent d'Bout that is run by the most delightful and gracious hostess.. Christine. We have been visiting France several times a
year for the last 30 years and we can honestly say that this is by far the best B& B we have stayed in. Christine's B& B is like a "home from home" and Christine does everything in her power to make you feel so welcome. Breakfast consists of homemade bread and homemade preserves that have to be tried to be believed. We shall certainly place this B&B in our book of places that must be re-visited.Christine and Brian

Very welcoming hosts. Lovely simply furnished comfortable rooms, ours had a small lounge area. Lots of sea and life boat memorabilia everywhere, Meusieur Darques is a Calais life boat volunteer. The house is officially outside Calais, but we walked to the centre to go out to eat and it was only about 20 mins or so.

We stayed here when we got off the eurochannel before driving down France. The host and hostess were ever so welcoming and charming! The room was lovely and clean with lovely decor. I would recommend it as a perfect hotel stay. The petit dejeuner was also wonderful and homemade!

Room Tip: All rooms were quirky and different!

My wife and I stayed at the Villa Vent d’Bout for one night.
My emails to Villa Vent d’Bout arranging our visit were always promptly replied to.
On arrival we were met by Christine Darques, the landlady. She was a charming hostess, friendly and very helpful. Her English was a little better than my French, so there was no problem with communication.
We were asked which of the bedrooms shown on the website we would prefer, and as we looked a little unsure, Christine took us upstairs and showed us all three vacant rooms from which we made our choice.
Our room was clean and homely with plenty of wardrobe space. The bed was very comfortable indeed. There was an en suite shower room and separate en suite WC. There was one small bottle of shower gel and a sachet of shampoo provided but no soap.
The house is close to a roundabout, over which the window of our room faced. There was a some noise from this but nothing to disturb our sleep too much, especially in such a comfy bed.
The décor of the place shows that the owners are very keen on sailing. The walls are covered in sailing photos along with all sorts of sailing paraphernalia. Even our bedside lamps where models of buoys!
There is a large room downstairs where guests can sit and relax and which also has a long table used at breakfast time.
Breakfast was basic but good. Christine produced some nice home-made bread, along with the usual baguettes, croissants, jam and cheese.
Parking is in a small secure court yard next to the house. The large double gates are locked at night, making it ideal for us as we had loaded up the car with wine and other French goodies!
There is one criticism I have to mention about our stay, and that is an absence of any fire procedure, or indeed equipment, in or close to our room. Access to the bedrooms is firstly up stairs to a large balcony/landing, and then through a small door and up a further narrow flight of stairs. When I thought about this as I lay in bed I did feel a little uneasy as there seemed to be no other means of escape should a fire break out downstairs. I don’t know what the fire regulations are in France, but I would urge the owners to put something in place in the event of an emergency.
Would we stay at the Villa Vent d’Bout again? Yes, definitely. However, Mr & Mrs Darques, please post instructions in the rooms about what to do in the event of a fire!

Room Tip: Take a look at the Villa Vent d'Bout website.

We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly at this perfectly situated B&B on the beach in Calais. The hosts were charming and extremely helpful. The food was high quality. The rooms were pristine, comfortable, and an excellent family value.

The Villa was recommended to us by the Calais Tourist Information Office. We stayed there overnight before taking the Cross Chanel Ferry from Calais to Dover on our way home to Australia. Marie-Christine and Philippe Darques were the ideal hosts providing us with French ambience in homely surroundings. Philippe spoke Engish well and assisted us with local information. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. Marie-Christine provided us with an early breakfast so we didn't miss our ferry. The Villa was an ideal place to stay for sightseeing around Calais and was located close to the Ferry Port. We would have no hesitation in staying there again.
