We ate here twice during a holiday in Tuscany. The first time there was a set menu at an excellent price which included local specialties such as pasta with wild boar sauce and rabbit. The second time we chose à la carte and thoroughly enjoyed very interesting dishes such as duck in a chocolate and pine nut sauce and steak with different original sauces. Good prices and excellent service. We sat outside as it was August, but the interior looks great.

The restaurant is located in a antique and nice restored cellar.
The antipasti plate was wonderful but the pizza awful: the dought was convinienc, the filling cheap and not backed in wooden oven. Would not go back there.

In order to celebrate what had been a wonderful vacation in Tuscany we wanted to go out for dinner with a group of eight. We had already heard some good rumours from locals about Osteria del Cavaiolo and two out of our group had already enjoyed a luxurious lunch there. We decided to reserve a couple of days in advance to be sure of a table as we would be coming with quite a number of people.

The hosts were very welcoming and offered us the possibility to have dinner outside on the private terrace, or inside. We decided to have dinner inside in order to avoid the mosquitos. We were delighted with our choice as now we would be having dinner in a cozy cave with a convivial and typically italian atmosphere.

We were able to compose our own three-course menu and the hosts adviced us which wines would pair best with the food served. Our starter was a combination of several starters so we could all try a bit of everything. The pizza's and pastas for the main course contained fresh ingredients and were delicious. For desserts again we were able to combine different dishes to serve something for everyone in our group.

We had a lovely time in this restaurant and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any locals or tourists. Whether you visit as a couple or as a family.

We ate here several times and always had great meals. We tried most of their menu and had no complaints, other then they use too much salt. All their servings were very ample, from the appetizers to the dessert. Service was excellant.

We spent one night, 26th April, in CM, and chose the Osteria as the Pizzaria was so unwelcoming.
Because of this we had the best meal of our whole trip, fillet of beef with a mixed salad. Very simple, but so satisfying. The atmosphere was very Tuscan, as a family were there celebrating a daughter's third birthday, and a long table was being prepared for a larger group later in the evening. (Seating for eleven... a football team?) The service was friendly and patient with two Brits who have very little Italian. The place was busy all the time, so is obviously well known despite being located in a small hill village, which is certainly off the Brits tourist route. Worth returning to CM for the Osteria alone.
