A colleague and I were booked here by clients during a business trip to the Barcelona area. The hotel is situated in a semi rural area amidst commercial/industrial buildings and open acreages. We were booked in Suites; ours were entered from the ground floor level which was very convenient. The suites are compact and consist of two levels......in mine the top level contained the bedroom and bathroom and a small working area with desk and chair and the lower level contained a small living room/kitchenette facility. Everything about the suite was immaculately clean and it reminded me of some Scandic Hotels I have stayed in in Sweden.....hardwood floors.....sort of blonde and bare look......the bath room was contained no bar soap......the only soap obtainable was a creamy liquid soap dispensed from the bathtub/shower combination area and there were no wash cloths......just a simple sponge. So, it seems that for showering, washing one's face, shaving, etc., the sponge was "it". First time I've ever seen that kind of a setup ever. But it worked OK. Everything worked.....internet access was simple.....speed was adequate. The only flaw I see is to me a safety issue....could be dangerous and made me a little uncomfortable. To get from the upper level to the lower level one descended a quite steep uncarpeted staircase, which had a cant bordering on that of a ladder.......quite precipitous and with no barrier.... one stumble in the night (or day) and one could sustain really serious injury. My colleague and I discussed this feature and agreed that it made us both a little nervous. Another unusual aspect of this facility was the breakfast. The breakfast room was quite small.....would seat maybe 10 people at most. There was an italian style coffee machine at a small bar in the breakfast area. The breakfast menu was quite eclectic.......you could choose bacon or ham or cheese.....no eggs available....bread/toast/sweet rolls......marmalades/jams/butter, yogurt.......kind of this and that. This could very well be indicative of local culture where I believe that breakfast is not an important institution. The Dining Room was small, but very attractively set up. The front desk was not manned 24 hours.......we needed to check out at 7AM to get to the airport....and at 6:55AM it was ghostly quiet and deserted.....then at promptly 7AM a young woman hurried through the front door......and quite promptly got herself set up and efficiently took care of the check out. The staff are generally quite young, very cordial and friendly. This is what I would call a "boutique" hotel......without the array of features seen in international properties.....but certainly served its purpose for us. Price was very reasonable.
