“Lovely setting and delicious food!”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

Visiting the area last weekend and went for dinner with friends who live nearby. Restaurant is in a great location with views over the pine forest and the terrace where we sat, is well laid out and feels lively but intimate, with a greenery clad pergola and good lighting. Try to reserve a table on the edge of the terrace for best views! Attentive hostess told us about their Mojitos as we sat down, which we promptly tried and can recommend. We ordered a selection of starters and a couple of salads - all were well made and the salads were refined and complex. Being a non-meat eater, this can mean disappointing food when eating out in Spain, however there was plenty on this menu to please me. My gazpacho was extremely tasty as was the mushroom risotto. The meateaters in our group were raving about their beef so much so that they actually paused especially to prolong the experience! Only criticism was that desserts could be a bit more refined - the apples on my tarte tatin were sliced too large and therefore not properly caramelised. Having said that if I was going in for just a coffee and dessert it would have been fine. Bill for 4 covers including wine and cocktails was, in my experience, about right

“Deception”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

Although the restaurant is having a nice accomodation the final impression was relative poor: expensive for what you get and despite positive comments the food was nothing special and also not lovely served. This is somethingI would expect in such kind of restaurant. Regarding prices: 30 euros for just a piece of meat and some chips is in my opinion too much. Dessert the same: nothing special, for both quality as appearence.

“Nice atmosphere but expensive...”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Went here with 2 friends who have had good experiences here, reasonable price, good portions, nice location.

Regarding location: Inside it's nice but the really great pro's are the garden/patio terraces. Service is good.

However, we were a bit shocked about the prices. NOT counting the wine we spent a total of about 80 euros per couple. Keeping in mind the fact that we shared a starter (salad) and we didn't get the most expensive meat (actually my wife got Risotto) this is definitely overpriced for Sant Cugat area. The wine also was quite expensive compared to other restaurants in the area.

Our friends who had been here before noticed an increase in prices as compared to their last visitand. What also changed is that many dishes don't include fries anymore and you have to order this as a side (5 euros for a portion of fries),

Again the location is excellent and we did have a good time, but at this quality level there are other, less pricey, alternatives such as La Masia in Sant Cugat.

Excellent steaks and atmosphere (under a vine that brinngs shadow).
Downstairs there is a nice cosy bar for aftermeal drinks.

“Great restaurant - but stop hassling us about the "chill-out"!!”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

Casa Blava is a great restaurant if you're into red meat and red wine - that's all I've ever had there so I can't comment on anything else on the menu. Well, that and some gin and tonics...

It's certainly not cheap, as others have similarly commented.

However, in the last year or 18 months, they've added a "chill-out" section below the restaurant and the waiting staff in the restaurant hassle you constantly to move there after you've finished your meal. 8 of us were there just a couple of nights ago and at least four of the waiting staff tried to get us to move there after dinner. We kept explaining that we just wanted to finish our drinks at the table before heading home, but they kept banging on about it.

We spent over 500€ between us, and had a great meal, but the evening ended on a bit of a sour note because of this obsession with moving us downstairs. I can only assume that the waiting staff can get off a bit early if they can move everyone downstairs. We actually got told at one point we only had, and I quote, "4 and a half minutes" to finish our drinks before we would have to move downstairs. This was before midnight, pretty early for dining in Spain, not 2am or something.

If the owner reads this, my friends and I really like eating at your restaurant, but please get the staff to back off on the damn chill-out thing - it's ruining the place.
