“You can't go home again!”
Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

Alas, we have been here several times in the past and really looked forward to another memorable meal. We were so very disappointed. We visited on a recent Friday for lunch and had a terrific garden salad to start. The remainder of the meal was not up to any reasonable standards. The main course was boiled very salty cod accompanied by 2 boiled potatoes, a few boiled carrots, a huge bowl of aioli. There were 2 toothpicks stuck in the potatoes to be used to extract the meat from the large bowl of escargots. Also very salty. The cheese tray was rather nice with a wide variety of cow, goat and sheep cheeses.
The premier event at the close of the meal was always the vast selection of homemade tarts. We selected the raspberry tart and while it looked beautiful, the underlying cake seemed to be merely a commercial crust available at any diner!
The Bistrot still has charm and atmosphere and was very lively but it is no longer a cherished dining experience.

“A real surprise”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

We had dinner here on our last of 10 nights in Les Baux. The food was a real surprise, with the lamb considered by all to be the equal of that at L'Oustau de Beamaniers. At 50 e a head inclusive of wine(albiet rather cheap) this place is a great value. The wine is simply plonked on your table no matter how many you drink it's all inclusive. Its all a lot of fun & you can be as noisy as you like.

“Very good quality, very nice atmosphere”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

a lot of locals come to eat, you feel like being at a large french party, small and large tables, the large ones are shared, but if you dont want to connect with the unknowns on your table no problem: enough space between. Usually choice between two entres and main course, but you will like both. Wine is included and very good quality, recommended!

“Simply an outstanding lunch! If you're anywhere nearby-GO!”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

My wife and I came to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and we're very happy we did. Plan for a 2 hour lunch and we'd recommend making a reservation. There's one fixed price menu per day, at 45 Euros, which includes a starter (choice of two), a main, a cheese board with a selection of 9 cheeses with a berry and a fig jelly, a choice of desserts, coffee AND a bottle of wine. On the day we went the starter choices were escargot or a mixed salad with avocado, tomatoes, shaved parmesan and two slices of salami, drizzled with balsamic and olive oil. My wife had the salad and I had the escargot. Both were very good. The main this day was super tender lamb chops served with excellent whipped potatoes and a timbal of ratatoille. The wine was a reserve Cote du Rhone with a house label. There was a wide selection of desserts to choose from, from sorbet, glaces, chocolate mousse, baba au rhum, creme caramel and other temptations.

“Excellent meal and service”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Great birthday meal. Excellent service with good food. Nicely air-conditioned restaurant but outside dining if wanted. Wine delicious and included in price. Make sure to book as very popular restaurant. Not an extensive menu and only 1 main course on day we went but changes every day so you can be sure totally fresh that day.
