“Excelent for relaxing days”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

Excelent option for relax with family or couple. The hotel is located in the Toja Island, beautiful place with wonderful scenarious.
The rooms are very spacious and confortables. The hotel has a lot of excelent services: SPA; pool; casino. The food was delicious. We traveled with full board and it was a excelent decision! The food was very good with tradicional spanish dishes (a delicious "paella") and internacional dishes.
The SPA is very good to.
I recomend this hotel for a relaxing days near the beach with family or couple! Near the Hotel you can find very good restaurants in o Grove and Sanxenxo.

The Isla de la Toja, a small island hanging out in the Atlantic, connected to the mainland by a road bridge, is one of Spain's undiscovered gems.
The region, in the north of the independently-minded Galicia, is largely unknown to Spaniards as well.
Yet this lush and verdant isle is placed in an area rich in fish and wine and agriculture. It also oozes local hospitality and a relaxed and laid back lifestyle, that seems a most fifty years behind the rest of angst-ridden northern Europe.
Because of its westerly situation, it rains a lot more here and this is a part of Spain that is green all-year round.
But even approaching October the weather is much warmer than a British summer and excellent for sun-bathing.
A dramatic, glacial coastline is full of pristine deserted beaches and the country roads are studded with bodegas and tavernas aplenty, serving local fresh produce at remarkably reasonable prices.
I stayed at the Hesperia on the island, an NH Resorts hotel which sits in the centre of village, overlooking the sea and a short drive from the nearby unspoiled fishing villages and bustling towns of the Galician coast.
It's staff are typically laid back, friendly and efficient and the rooms large and airy with sea views and everything the businessman or tourist needs.
Food is locally produced and plentiful...they believe in large portions here. Buffet or la carte in several eating areas. And among the most reasonable I have found in the eurozone.
The hotel boasts a spa wing overlooking the in and outdoor pools which resembles an upmarket Swiss clinic. Here they specialise in treatments using locally on-tap mineral water at what I found to be very realistic prices.
The hotel has an inviting bar across the square, which, again, is inexpensive for locally produced wine and beer and tapas.
And, for the more adventurous, there's always the casino across the road for late drinks and the chance of a win on the tables.
Two minutes away is the local church, totally encased in seashells, which attracts visitors from across the region and the local market.
A walk around the island's periphery yields spectacular views of the mainland.
Low-cost Spanish airline Vueling flies from London Heathrow to La Coruna and transfers are available to the Isla de la Toja.
And the availability of free wifi across the resort was a pleasant bonus.

Stayed at this hotel for a few days after visiting Santiago de Compostela. The hotel is well-kept, the bedrooms are large and we had a stunning view over the water and of the swimming pool. We enjoyed swimming in the salt water pool and eating in the restaurant in the evening. The spa was lovely, but annoyingly you have to pay extra to use it, and then only get to use if for 90 minutes at a time, which isn't nearly long enough, we ended up rushing around to use the pool and sauna and steam room before our time ran out. Not really relaxing! However the rack rate in May is very reasonable and so we would recommend staying here again out of season.

firstly i would like to say that we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel and the spa is a wonderful way to relax but all that was spoilt upon paying on leaving and being presented with a bill for the spa outside of the price of the already pricey package i had booked for the stay. we thought we would take advantage of the morning and use the spa. well dont as they charge you for this. we arrived at around 8pm on the first day and as the spa closed at 9pm didnt have a chance to enjoy it. we used it the day after and were under the impression that until you had to leave the hotel at midday that you were paying for the stay but this is not the case. the receptionist was very sacarstic and not at all understanding. this was not pointed out in the condidtions upon booking and really should be but just in case be warned and dont be caught out. i would not reccommend this hotel now and find it a very penny pinching way for a large chain like hisperia to behave.

We were looking for pools and internet when we booked our hotel. The internet access was great--wired and wireless.

The original information for the booking said the facility had both indoor and outdoor pools. There was no mention that there would be any extra charges involved.

Room rates were very reasonable for this sort of 4 star hotel as we preceded the July-August busy season. The room rate included a fabulous breakfast buffet with smoked salmon, hot and cold food, beautiful fruit, egg white omelets, cheese......lots of fresh juices........

However, upon check-in we were told that the hotel reservation only included the outdoor pool........which was unheated and freezing!!! It would be 12E extra per day per person to use the "spa," which was what the indoor pool was called. And indeed, it was a salty spa rather than just an indoor pool. We decided just to go with it, and we all enjoyed ourselves, plus after four days, our elbows had never looked better!! All that dry skin gone........

However, we did not appreciate that like everything else in Spain, the pool and spa were closed from 2-4 in the afternoon and then at 4 there seemed to be some bus group of senior citizens coming in to use the spa for an hour or so.........so we came later. The spa was both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor portion was below the ground level and thus sheltered from the wind.

Our rooms were beautiful and spacious. I agonized about booking 4 days there, but the whole family was very happy with the rooms and the facility.

  • Liked — Beautiful setting and great rooms.
  • Disliked — We felt rather silly going from our rooms to the spa in our robes/togas and spa flip-flops, which did not fit my husband's size 14 feet!!

We (myself and the missus) have stayed here twice, and both times have been great. The rooms are comfortable, and quite. Modern looking hotel, with good food, but if you really want to taste some of the local fare it is better to go to restaurants outside in the town for some albariño and seafood.

The major benefit is that downstairs you have all the thermal baths, spa, and health and beauty clinic. The best massage I have ever had! Mud baths, facials, O2 treatment which was a first. The gym is in an open space with views of the sea, not like the usual small room with no window and air-caonditioning.

We also had a 7 month baby with us which they allowed into the thermal baths. One of the ladies sitting by the pool offered to babysit so that we could go into the saunas, and other baths. The baby loved it.

We are going back as soon as we can.
