“Family room too small for family”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

It wasn't awful, but I wouldn't stay there again.

We are family of 4, kids age 15 and 12. The "family" room has a queen size bed and a pullout that turns into two twins. When the beds are all pulled out, there's almost no space left in the room.

The hotel claims to have wifi, but it does not work in all the rooms. We had to sit by the door to get any signal. Even then, it did not work on all of our devices, even though those devices worked fine on wifi at other locations in France. I heard another guest saying the same thing at the front desk. The front desk had no idea about how to make it work.

We inquired about doing laundry at the hotel and were given a form with prices. 6 euros for a shirt, 3 for underwear or socks. It would have cost us $100 to do our laundry there. Instead we went into town and found a laundromat.

The location is ok, sort of on the outskirts of Blois, maybe a 10 minute car ride to the center. There is a nice boulangerie/patisserie on the main street nearby. The hotel's restaurant is ok but expensive for what it is, even for breakfast. Far better to go to the boulangerie and have coffee and a wide selection of pastries to choose from.

The place looks in the photos a lot fancier than it is in person.

Blois is a little bit of a sleepy town. If I were visiting this area again, I would try to stay in Amboise instead. Three nights in this place was too long.

First of all, please know that I am not one to complain about hotels; my tolerance level for less than good accommodations is quite high. But this was the single worst hotel experience I have had in my adult life.

We checked in on Wed. 8/21. Almost immediately one of us sat in a chair that collapsed. We then noticed that several electrical outlets were not working. The room was warm and all of the manipulation of the air conditioning system was insufficient to get it cooled. The last straw was when my daughter got into her trundle bed and it, too, collapsed.

In view of these disasters, I asked the front desk clerk if we could switch rooms. To his credit, he was accommodating and got us into another room immediately. This room, like the first one, was quite warm, but we toughed it out. However, nobody slept well and again, power outlets in this room were not working.

During our first full day, we asked the front desk to haver the A/C checked out. When we returned from a day of touring, the room was no cooler. I again asked for another room change, and the front desk clerk again was accommodating. This third room actually had working air conditioning, but we shouldn't have had to move twice.

I should add that the wi-fi is also completely dysfunctional; you get thrown off every few minutes and have to constantly log back in. The pool was nice but there weren't enough chairs and a decent number of them were broken.

The one positive was the breakfast buffet, which had a variety of food and terrific coffee.

All in all, this property is suffering from gross neglect. I believe this is part of the Novotel chain, so I'm quite surprised that it's not up to the standards of that brand.

Stayed for one night but as we arrived so early following an overnight journey they allowed us to have breakfast that morning at extra cost €15 per adult with children free.

Location is outside of Blois but there is a bus service (did not use) but did see so could enquire but to drive in is relatively easy if you use sat nav and there is a variety of parking places available.

The car park for the hotel is large but the best spaces get taken quickly. Bricks and a racing car game are there for children. Restaurant open for all mealtimes. Organisation could be improved do thst tables were allocated appropriately for size of party but there are tables inside and out. Fair selection of cereals, hot and cold dishes but could be empty awaiting replenishment for a while. Coach parties use this hotel so it can be busy. Room was functional and this is one of only a few hotels offering a three/four people in one room rate for families. Coffee and tea are available in the room snd also a mini bar (extra cost).Did not use the television but room haf a great view of the pool. Swimming pool was a godsend for the children in the heat of the late afternoon.

This is a good alternative hotel for short breaks to Blois and as a stopover. It could do with a freshening up as could many hotels but is good. Just watch out for the lift, it is small either a couple of people or one person with a bag trolley (several trolleys available) but otherwise can be recommended. Check in is just after one and we were grateful that our rooms were available shortly after this time.

We stayed here for one night en route to Calais. We paid €75 for a family room via Booking.com and it was great for a short stop over. The kids had a swim in the pool which looked fine to us & we ate in the hotel restaurant because we didn't have time to go into the centre of Blois. The food was good and the prices reasonable.
We found the room to be spacious & clean with modern furnishings. The hotel has very pleasant gardens and the reception has a free x-box for the kids to play and the hotel's wi-fi worked throughout the building!
We would recommend this hotel.

The pictures make this place look far better than it really is when you arrive. The place has a moldy stench that is terrible. The air conditioning does not work even a little bit. You adjust the thermostat in the room and turn on the fan and a tiny bit of warm air comes out (we had two rooms - all the same).

The pool is a joke. It is cold and dirty. The toilets have stains in them. The linens look like they have been there for years.

The location is pointless as you are not near anything - you need a car if you stay here.

Overall, unless you are just trying for the cheapest room possible we would never stay here.

The personnel were helpful and assisted us as necessary.

Room Tip: Don't stay here is the only tip I have.

We stayed here two nights on our way to the Loire Valley. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, surrounded by greenery - great for rest and relaxation. Hotel is quite far from the city center, a taxi is a bit expensiveIt, but by the bus or your own car can be reached very quickly. The rooms are spacious, toilet is separate from the bathroom which was recently renovated. Breakfast was very tasty and varied, with plenty of fruits, cheeses, pastries, salami, various kinds of tea, coffee, hot chocolate. The hotel is a good starting point for visiting the nearby castles along the Loire. Hotel is good value for the money, so I recommend it for your stay.
