We found this online and decided to break our trip south to Barcelona somewhere south of Orleans.

After a long drive from Calais we wound up the lovely country road through the woods and came across the village, which is picture postcard perfect, the hotel is just off the centre and Renne gave us a warm welcome.

As the car was full of luggage, 3 kids and a dog , he offered to let us park in the secure courtyard - although the public parking is quite safe and 5 metres from the hotel. Our room was for 5, 2 smaller rooms with doorway and was quaintly excellent.

Renne invited us into the garden for a complimetary drink where the kids and dog could unwind then booked the only local restaurant for us and other guests. We unwound after a long days travel, had an excellent dinner, and a walk around the village and the kids played in the park.

All slept well, a relfection of the setting, and breakfast at the large shared table was a great way to chat to the other guests - not for some, but great for us - and the french toast cooked fresh from the kitchen was the best ever.

A perfect place to stay for a relaxing break after a long day, made even more special by the hosts.

Thoroughly recommended

Room Tip: Only five rooms so little choice, its not a 5 star hotel, so quaint and quirky is what you get

We were booked in for five nights, stayed three, the weather was awful and we wanted to get further south. Very little suited me although my wife was more forgiving. The parking for two cars in the back garden was accessed via a narrow gateway. I tried it once in my new, large car then parked on the public car-park adjacent for the other two nights. Breakfast is taken at a refectory table with strangers., not my style. It was necessary to unlock and relock the front door each time you used it, mainly to keep the dogs in - not just one turn, three. Our room was called Azay-le-Rideau, difficult to now why eg the wardrobe was a Victorian carcass with the back missing, the large drawer at the bottom screwed in, screwed to wall, the shelf. etc. white painted chipboard.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

We stayed there just for one night for our trip to Loire Valley. It's particularly close to Chambord and Cheverny. The owners were extremely hospitable and friendly. The room was nice and quite spacious with the good modern bathroom and a separate toilet. We liked the breakfast a lot not only because of the food but mainly because of the warm atmosphere: comfortable small dining room, antique decorated; helpful owner, friendly dogs.
What we didn't like was the restaurant that was recommended to us. Don't remember the name, but it was just around the corner from the hotel.
Thank you for the warm welcome at your place!

Everything about Le Petit Clos was to our liking. The rooms were immaculately clean and the amenities were modern while retaining the atmosphere of a French country home. The hosts, Rene and Thierry were very welcoming. We felt as if we had just reconnected with friends. They opened the back gate so that we could park in their yard, shared the local wine with us and served a fabulous breakfast. We enjoyed every minute of our visit. Would really like to see the garden in the spring/summer.

Room Tip: Not knowing the sizes of French beds, we chose the room with two singles. The room faced the back so...

After a long journey down from the channel tunnel we arrived at Le Petit Clos to a wonderful warm welcome from Thierry. When he'd shown us to our room he invited us to the lounge for a drink, and then found us a place to eat for dinner (on the 27 December when everything was shut this was no mean feat!).
Breakfast the next day was wonderful, french toast (a french-canadian touch from Rene) and amazing home made jams. The hotel was lovely, but what made it special was Thierry and Rene. Would highly recommend it.
