We have just returned from a week in Gite Terre et Mer. The weather wasn't always kind in March/April but we thoroughly enjoyed an excellent break exploring some of what Normandy has to offer. The owners were friendly and responsive and spoke better English than our French! The booking and payment process via email were easy and trouble free.
The Gite itself is located to the rear of the owners property, approx. 10 mins drive inland from Villers-sur-mer. The owners send photo directions from the autoroute which were easy to follow. It is well equipped, comfortable and warm. By UK standards it is cosy but all appliances are new with excellent shower room, washing machine and dishwasher. The only comment we would make for a UK audience is that the TV does not receive English language channels and there is no dvd player. This may be an attraction for some!
Villers is a small seaside resort with excellent beach, interesting walks, basic shops and market, Deauville/Trouville are 20 mins away with rail a connection to Paris, large market and a range of supermarkets.
The Gite is ideally located for exploring the coast and Pays d'Auge, highlights including the Nornmandy landing beaches and associated museums and memorials (we particularly enjoyed the Pegasus Bridge Museum), the Bayeaux Tappestry, William the Conqueror's Castle in Falaise, Rouen (especially the Cathedral), Honfleure and don't forget the chesse factory in Livarot!
For couples or families interested in exploring this part of Normandy we would recommend Gite Terre et Mer.
