“Just perfect with everything you could possibly need and some”

This house easily accomodated our group of 9 family and friends including a 3 year old and 2 dogs. There are plenty of different areas to suit all. Our toddler enjoyed the games room with it's treasure chest of toys the rest of us had to decide where to settle the sunbeds, with such a large garden, pool area, terrace and a patio there was a quiet corner for all if required. Inside, the kitchen has everything you could need and more and with a local supermarket in Neris Les Bains food shopping was easy.

The weather wasn't very good during our stay so in the evening we made use of the stunning log fire in the centre of the house whilst playing games and drinking wine. There is a large selection of games and books to keep everyone happy and also an area for boules, which is easier after a glass of wine.

On our days out we visited Montlucon, which comes alive after 3pm we found so maybe wander first then stay for dinner. Lovely area for shopping and local interest. We ate in La Padre on the Grande Rue which accomodated our large group ,including the dogs, and had the most delicious pizzas. We also visited La Puy de Dome about 40 mins away. A train takes you up to the top with the most stunning views and you can stroll down, took us nearly 2 hours with an ice cream stop, or go by train. The website is worth checking out as there are lots of
events each day.

We would definately holiday here again as it was a home away from home but without a doubt the huge secure garden was the major benefit as we never had to worry about the dogs from dusk to dawn. They enjoyed their holiday as much as we did.

“Stunning Home! Tranquil Location! ”

I recently stayed at the house for just over a week in March. The pictures do not do it justice. The main living room is beautiful with a grand entrance, vey high ceiling, and the kitchen is beautiful too. The house layout lends it to be a very sociable home. The living areas are very cozy with two large couches and a beautiful fire right in the middle of the room.

There is also a massive games room (with its own outside terrace access) in one wing of the house and there is also a sizeable landing upstairs with a large smart TV and the ability to connect games consoles if required.

Bedrooms are stunning and decorated to a high standard. As are the bathrooms!

There is a beautiful town five mins from the house; Neris les Bains, and 20 mins away is the city Montluçon which is also rather beautiful and has plenty to do. Lots of clothes shops, food shopping and an excellent choice of wine to chose from ☺️. It is steeped in his history and has plenty of beautiful sites to walk around and see.

If you are looking for a chilled, tranquil holiday with a few friends or with a big family, then this is the place. The house has no neighbours looking on to it and the road out side is extremely quiet. I saw three cars pass in the entire time I was there.

I suspect the pool will be lovely in the summer too and there is an outdoor area for games and a second terrace that runs along the back of the house. That particular terrace could comfortably sit 20+ people if required.

Great house for big families, a trip with friends or even just as a couple.

Would definitely go back!

“Tranquil and very well equipped. Loads of space”

A large house with great facilities. We are a family of four, two adults and two teenagers so we had lots of room to spread out in the house which has six bedrooms and two bathrooms (another bedroom and bathroom are being added). The wifi was well used as were some of the other games kept in the house, particularly the Scrabble and darts.
We drove to the house from Luxembourg, approximately a six hour drive. When we arrived the temperature was 35°, it cooled down a little after that but remained quite hot for the rest of our two week stay. The pool was very welcome and refreshing on those hot days.
We alternated between days visiting attractions in the area and days staying around the house. Vichy and the Puy du Dome areas are well worth a visit (even if you have bored teens in tow who want to get back to the wifi in the house!). We also went to Thiers where we all made a knife under the supervision of a "maître".
We alternated between eating in and out. Neris les Bains recently lost some of its better restaurants due to the spa being closed for a year but we found many excellent places in Montluçon,which is only 5km away. (All found using Trip Advisor).
The tranquility in the summer evenings, sitting on the terrace with a nice glass of wine, was delightful. The house has an amazing fireplace which must be cosy and impressive for those who visit in winter.
There were lots of thoughtful little extras which are not always found in rented accommodation eg salt and other condiments in the kitchen, washing powder if you want to use the washing machine, a little welcome basket with coffee, sparkling wine and Vichy pastilles etc. Jeff, the local manager was very helpful and attentive, he looks after the place well.
Following a few posts on Facebook, I think some of our friends will be making enquiries for next year!

“Phenomenal, chateau like experience in the heart of rural France”
Reviewed May 26, 2015 for a stay in August 2014

We visited Montigny on the recommendation of some friends and had a very pleasant experience booking our stay. Initially we wondered if it was too far to go from the West Coast of the USA but easy flights direct to Paris and then a leisurely drive down through breath-taking French countryside assuaged our concerns. Arriving at Montigny is an experience in itself - the property sits in the middle of one of the most beautiful parts of France I've visited. The house is huge and in excellent condition and comfortably accommodated our party of 12. All the rooms are well appointed - the master suite is particularly extravagant - and the family rooms worked well for our two young children. Talking of children, they loved exploring the huge, safe grounds. One of our family's endearing memories is long European summer evenings on the terrace drinking a glass or two of the local plonk and watching the kids play boules on the lawns. We spent a couple of days traveling around the Neris Les Bains area sightseeing - plenty to see if you are a history buff or like shopping for old knick-knacks - although I couldn't wait to get back, take a swim and play with the kids.

In short, it was the perfect break for us and we plan on going back next year.
