Recommended by a friend, we couldnt have wished for a better site. We stayed at this campsite in peak season this summer and although it was fully booked, it never felt busy or cramped. We were with four other families the owners were very helpful in making sure we were all together, directly opposite other friends who were staying in the gite. basic but very clean toilets/showers, which were never busy.
A stunning location right on the river, with it's own beach (where you can have campfires in the evening ) or there's two swimming pools to choose from. Again, never a problem getting a sunbed before about 1pm.
Our children (mostly teenagers) had the best time, meeting many others of there own age, who they've already arranged to meet on our return next year. Happy kids = happy parents !
The owners and staff were all very helpful, a lovely bar, open til about midnight and a cafe selling very tasty snacks and meals.
All in all a wonderful campsite, which I cannot wait to return to nxt summer ! Oh, one more thing, every other Sunday night, Limeuil has a evening market/party not to be missed. Rows and rows of tables where you can sit and take your pick of a choice of amazing food, with a disco and live band, right next to the river, directly opposite the campsite. It was a fantastic evening, recommend going early though or you'll miss out on the food !

We visited this campsite 15 years ago and thought it one of the best we had stayed in. Our return visit did not disappoint. Facilities have been much improved but it still retains its quietness and shady aspect. The shop is much improved - fresh bread and great croissants at 8.00am. There is now a laundry with commercial size washers and driers. The swimming pool is now 2 with a great jacuzzi.
The position, at the confluence of the Vesere and Dordogne rivers makes it very central - the village of Limeuil is just over the 2 bridges and there are a number of facilities on offer.
Eurocamp is the only British company here - tents and mobile homes - but there is plenty of space for other tents, caravans etc. Pitches tend to be shady. We drove down and had a mobile home but we noticed an increasing number of people were flying to Bergerec and either hiring a car or getting a taxi to the campsite.
This is perfect for people of any age from young children to pensioners.

this is the best campsite that we have stayed in, we booked through eurocamp our tent was located facing the river, we could let the kids run around the grass area in front of the tent & go to the park without any worries. there is a shop which sells everything that you might need including shoes! they get a delivery of fresh baguettes, pain du chocolate and loads of other scrummy paistrys every morning. the showers were always clean and they catered very well for small children they had the tiniest loo that I've ever seen and a bath as sink so you don't have to force your toddles to take a shower. in and around the bar area you get free wifi and the make lovely pizzas using homemade dough! I was gutted to leave this wonderfull place, I hope that I get a chance to visit again next year . the only downside was that it was a very long drive down from Calais 10 hours!

We arrived at the site late to a friendly greeting and were told we could get set up straight away and check in the following morning. And they even opened the shop for us to buy a couple of bottles of wine.
Our pitches were of average size and bordered by hedges and we did think at one point that our daughters caravan wasn’t going to fit, especially as we had to get it up onto a slight hump, which when you’re trying to push a 26ft caravan seems like a small mountain. And once the awning was up it left them very little space for sitting outside. Our pitch was more level but appeared to have no grass on half of it which resulted in everybody trailing soil into the caravan. Overall, however the site appeared to be well maintained and clean.
The sanitation facilities, although kept spotlessly clean, were basic, not very private and, I would imagine, inadequate in the main season as in the block nearest to us there were only three toilets each for men and women. They did provide a childs toilet but since you have to walk past the men's urinals to access it our children never used it. Hand washing facilities after using the toilet was minimal as in the ten days we were there the soap dispenser was only ever filled the once at the beginning of our stay and had run out by the second day! The showers were very good with plenty of hot water and there was a baby bath facility which was well used by this family.
The shop was small and stocked basic items such as bread, milk, a few dairy items, cold meats, wine and a few beach items. And as there didn't appear to be any shops in the village either we found it best to stock up at the supermarkets in Le Bugue every few days. There was a bar and take-away which were OK but nothing special.
The swimming pools were adequate and well maintained and whilst we were there not too crowded, the smaller of the two pools proving the most popular with our younger children. There were two small play parks with basic swings, slides and a trampoline. The older children, when not in the pool made good use of the volleyball court.
The laundry facilities left a lot to be desired as the washing machines cost 4euros a wash and one of the machines ruined two loads of laundry. It actually came out dirtier than when it went in! We later hand washed several of the items and a slimy grey grease could be seen running out of them. And when we went to inform the site staff that there was a problem with the machine all we got was a shrug and told it must have been something we'd put in. We were grudgingly given a free token to try the other machine.  Which did little better.
On our second day when my daughter went up to the shop she was told that a couple of campers had left because of noisy children, making her feel it was her fault and very uncomfortable for the rest of the holiday. Especially as there were several families around us with young children who screamed for most of the night! In fact, from that point on, we felt that the attitude of the owners became quite dismissive and positively unfriendly whenever we had dealings with them. As in the past we had packed bikes and scooters for our children but they felt unable to ride them around the site for fear of a telling off. We had booked for ten nights but wish we hadn't. Although the site and it's facilities are good the over-all ambience was quite unwelcoming and certainly not, in my opinion, child friendly in attitude. We, as a family, have travelled extensively and camped throughout Europe for over 35 years and this is only the second campsite that we have felt so uncomfortable on, which, I feel, spoilt our holiday. The area as a whole is  a wonderful and interesting place  which is why we chose to visit but I would not recommend this as a site to do it from and I certainly would not return here.  And for anyone who does choose this site bringing plenty of mosquito repellant is advisable.

We Stayed in the Gite on this very pretty campsite.
The Gite was comfortable, cosy and quite simply such excellent value.Very well equipped- everything you could possibly need. the partially covered terrace was excellent - privacy and sun!!
There was a welcome at the Reception- very helpful etc The small shop stocked essentials at reasonable prices too.
The site is very well kept, clean, tidy and very pretty. Great pools too plus a small pebbly beach alongside the river.
Totally picturesque setting.
We were booked for 10 nights but loved it so much we changed our plans in order to stay another two nights!
I would thoroughly recommend this site for couples and families with young children.
Superb!!!!

We stayed for two weeks in August 2011 and had an amazing time the pitches are shady and shower block etc is very clean! Campsite staff all speak good English and are very friendly! My children were 10 & 8 at the time and loved the freedom riding there bikes around the campsite. The campsite is directly on the river which is a def plus as it is very clean and secure for all the family! We had electricity for the two weeks and realised in our second week that the owner rented out kitchen fridges for a small charge and delivered and collected them from your tent! We had sunshine for the whole two weeks at its hottest reaching 40+ so the pool and river were used regularly!
We loved it so much we just booked to go back in august 2012 would def recommended it to all my camping friends !

Room Tip: I would recommend hiring a fridge at the campsite which comes with a small freezer handy for the sho...

This is one of the best Campsites we stayed at in France. Pitches are shady and large, with a view across the river to the medieval Franch village of Limeuil. Its quite a small family friendly campsite that my children absolutely loved. They could cycle everywhere ( shop, swimming pool, tennis court, playarea ) without a worry. The only drawback is that you are actually quite far from any major town so you have to take the car to go food shopping but apart from that this is a very relaxing, very pretty and well maintained campsite. Showers were always warm and the toilet area always very clean. Restaurant serves take away and pizzas ( good) and there is 3 pools including one for young children. Plenty to see in the area obviously as this is Dordogne, one of our best holidays so far !
