We recently spent a week here with another 2 couples in one of the most beautiful parts of France in the town of Beynac on the Dordogne River. The house is set on the side of a steep hill that sweeps up to Beynac Castle. We each had our own bedroom each with ensuite and views over the valley & river. 2 gorgeous terraces and open plan living/dining/kitchen areas also look out onto the river. It was very warm during our stay and most afternoons were spent in the pool. Mornings were spent exploring the surrounding towns and a different spot for lunch every day. Local Beynac restaurant 'La Petite Tonnelle ' and Sarlat- Michellin star restaurant 'Le Grand Bleu' are standout places to dine in the evenings.
The house owners Xanthe and Hamish have provided a well thought out haven & made the whole process very easy to book from Australia with excellent instructions provided on the houses' location. They also provided excellent instructions in the house and support while we were there. The pool was an absolute bonus and the wi-fi was essential for several members of our group and it worked in all areas of the house without a hitch. I highly recommend anyone travelling with family or friends to consider this style of accommodation for a relaxed holiday and a way to enjoy being a part of a vibrant local community.

The photos looked amazing on the internet but I was still stunned by the beauty of the view from the house and the house itself. Each time we came back from our excursions we felt so lucky to be the ones unlocking the big wooden gates and entering our Shangri La for the week. Once parked up if you wanted you never needed to take the car out again (though you would miss some amazing sites close by) as everything is right on your doorstep, down and up cobbled medieval streets. I have never stayed in such a stunning spot in such a special house. No one could possibly be anything but delighted. The booking process was simple and Xanthe was always prompt and helpful with any questions. Hamish called in half through the week and was very warm and friendly. Do hire a small car so you can use the garage. Do visit Petit Tonnelle restaurant. The canoe and balloon flight from just down the hill amazing. For a really special holiday DO visit this beautiful home.
