“Best Marriott hotel ever!”
Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

This hotel has the look and feel of a five star hotel without the five star prices! The service is excellent, the rooms are comfortable and well decorated and the hotel restaurant is a real gem. The beach is un-crowded and you are minutes away from great shopping and dining in Palm Beach Gardens. By far the best Marriott we have stayed in!

First I have to say this hotel is beautiful and has a lot to offer. That is why it is so hard to write this review. It could be the time of year we traveled and they were busy. Basically a nice room that is well laid out. Gives you the best combination of high end hotel and timeshare. We typically stay at Ocean Point over Presidents Day but could not get in this year so decided to try something else and used pointed to stay at the Marriott Beach Resort & Spa. From the moment we checked in we felt they could not care less about us, our stay, and if we were happy. They gave us probably the worst room in the hotel (4th floor looking at the back of the tiki building). Room inside nice but certainly you knew from the start you were not considered of any value. I do understand someone has to get these rooms and this was a non-revenue room using points, but isn't that the point when someone is using 140,000 points for a stay it is typically a very loyal customer that stays at your properties. When I asked to be switched they told me basically NO they were sold out and would try to do something in a day or two. Frankly I would have been ok if they had done something/ anything to try to make us feel better about the situation (a free drink, a couple chocolates, comp the parking for one day) anything but no their attitude is we are busy and looking at the back of a building on the lowest floor is fine (we don't care about your stay). So you have a bad room no big deal the property is great have a good time. We gave them one more chance to make us feel good about our stay. This week it is really cold so we asked for another duvet for the pull out couch because the kids were cold. They brought us another sheet and mattress cover. We thanked them and told them that would not help the kids needed a blanket and were told they do not give extra duvet for the pull out. Finally they agreed to give us a cheesy blanket, no duvet (can't do that). I have never stayed at a hotel that is rated 4/5 stars that only can say no. Hotel is nice but what this property does not get is it is about the experience not just a nice pool. It is an interesting concept condo/hotel and I want to love it but frankly will never come back. The experience has almost turned me off Marriott all together.

Room Tip: Don't stay on the 4th floor try to get them to give you a higher room that is above the building...

**I must preface this review by saying that we stayed for free on points. Had I paid the $1,200 or so for two nights it would normally have cost, I probably would have given the hotel 4 stars.**

The hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the Palm Beach airport. When we arrived the valet promptly took care of the car. Since it was 2:30, our room was not ready, but we headed down to the beach. Within 30 minutes a room was ready. We had reserved the smallest one-bedroom suite on points, so imagine our surprise when we got to our room and we had a two-bedroom, two-bath suite on the top floor. Hubby is a Platinum Marriott member but it's been our experience that upgrades when using points are not the norm, so this was a pleasant surprise. The elevators were fast, the room was quiet, and the free water in the lobby was appreciated. The lady in the lobby coffee shop makes a mean caramel macchiato. We were only charged $10/night for the valet as opposed to $20/night as advertised (which feels much more reasonable). The front desk let us check out two hours later than the 11:00 norm, since we had a 4:00 return flight. We were very pleased with the front desk people, who seemed well-trained and actually appeared to care about guests' enjoyment.

The room was lovely...very modern and clean. The view was great--ocean on the right, intracoastal on the left. I'd say 95% of the rooms at the hotel have an ocean view except for the ones in the shorter tower facing the pool, and even those would probably see the intracoastal, so no worries there. The pools were great--got in the lagoon pool and it was nice and warm, despite very windy February temps. It was 78 degrees and sunny one day and about 65 and windy the other day, but the beach chairs have pull-up shades that also help block the wind. We didn't bring the kids on this trip, but if we had, the hotel seemed very family-friendly, what with the full kitchens, the kids' club, and the water slide. There is also a public park right next door with a playground. Don't get me wrong, though; the place did not seem overrun with kids (as was the experience at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island up the road).

Of course any stay has its ho-hum parts. When opening a Heineken in the (very well stocked and fairly reasonably priced) mini-bar, it was discovered that a previous occupant had drank the beer and filled the (aluminum, non-see-through) bottle with water and recapped it. The front desk promptly brought up a real Heineken. This place can really nickel and dime you. Particularly annoying was the $30/day beach chair rental, although I understand this is the norm up and down Singer Island. All mixed drinks were $14 or $16, and hamburgers were $18. We had a $46 charge added to our bill that was not ours, but the front desk took care of it. The Cafe 3800 waitstaff was a bit underwhelming. We found it really strange that the bathroom door in our room was see-through glass, almost like a second shower stall.

Ocean Blvd. is great for jogging, especially if you head north from the hotel. Heading south, it gets somewhat sketchy after about 3/4 mile. We had a really nice dinner at Cafe Boulud in Palm Beach--great place to take a date for that special French meal (and wow, are the houses around the restaurant something to look at!). Overall, we were greatly pleased with our relaxing and beautiful stay and would definitely come back, especially if our room was free again!

Room Tip: All rooms looked pretty good. I personally would avoid a room overlooking the pool for noise reasons...

Our annual stay to the Marriott Singer Island is something we look forward to all year, and this year has been no exception. This is an upscale, clean, friendly hotel, with all of the great service and ammentites of a luxury hotel and none of the attitude. The staff members are all pleasant, from the front desk to the guys at valet, and you are treated very well. I've never felt here that any of the employees have their hand out for gratuity while going out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. A big thanks to Chris at the front desk for working with us to get the best room possible and for arranging our switch from a one to a two bdrm condo when our friends arrived from out of town.

We stayed in both one and two bdrm condos during our most recent visit, both of which were excellent. It is so convenient to have a full refrigerator, freezer, laundry, etc for leftover meals and staples, so you don't feel you have to constantly eat at the pool or hotel restaurant. Though the breakfast at 3800 Ocean is to die for!

The views of both the intercostal and ocean are scenic, and the beach is clean and well-kept. The grounds are overall very pretty and well-maintained. The hotel is conveniently located 10 minutes from anything you could need on PGA Blvd—restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, you name it. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay right on the beach.

Room Tip: The north side of the hotel overlooks the ocean, intercostal, and little park next door. The south s...

I have to admit some of the previous reviews made me nervous about this choice. I had been to the Ritz Carlton in West Palm this summer and loved it however with my two children I wanted more space and the kitchen/living room/Laundry amenities. We booked the two bedroom suite for a week. The staff, room, kids club, pool and beach all were wonderful. I LOVED the room which was perfectly kept and sparkling clean. I did make a run to the grocery store and stocked our fridge with snacks, breakfast and lunch items however we ate at the various restaurants on campus at least one meal a day. The Kale Salad and blackened Mahi Mahi was my favorite although I loved most items i ordered. The waitstaff was attentive and made it easy for our kids often putting in their meal order first and making sure they didn't have to wait too long. The bar menu is 1/2 price between 5 and 7PM which offers everything from steamed clams to salads to delicious flatbreads and burgers. The timing was perfect for our clan and we ate there most nights. The main restaurant was a little pricey but tasty as well. The spa was great for massages and lounging however we only spent one afternoon there. The Pool with the water slide is fabulous and the beach is beautiful. It is the soft sand sprinkled with just the right amount of shells for the kids to gather. In the kids club we did about activity per day: Sand Art, Tye Dye T shirts, face painting...I was really impressed by this property and tend to be a picky traveler. The only regret of my vacation was that we rented a car. In retrospect it would have been much less expensive to just take a taxi when we needed it. Overall- I will return and bring friends. Best family vacation- so easy with kids but would be fun just adults too!

Room Tip: Spring for the two bed suite if you are traveling with kids. It made all the difference to have two...

Everything we needed was right here -- a beautiful beach right out the back door as well as two well maintained, heated swimming pools. We especially liked having a spacious room with full kitchen and even a washer/dryer of our own. Were able to have most breakfasts and lunches right there on our balcony and went out to dinner evenings. Staff was very attentive and friendly. John at the beach was very helpful and Zach set up the chairs and umbrellas. Only downside I could see was the valet only parking. Looking forward to a return stay here.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the larger, family swimming pool. Since it wasn't very busy during our visit...
