“An absolute gem!”
Reviewed August 1, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Having seen the photos and read other reviews prior to our visit we were expecting a fantastic holiday - and we were not disappointed. Casa Foelas is situated in a quiet commune in a fairly remote area however the views it therefore affords one were spectacular. The villa is ideally situated for trips to many beautiful mediaeval towns and also access to the sea. Not wanting to drive in to Pescara we found a station 20minutes away and let the train take the strain.
We travelled with friends and so the opportunity to use the whole villa meant we could eat together but also have some individual 'downtime'. Both apartments were superbly equipped, although, perhaps, downstairs could have a larger dishwasher as the inclination was for us to eat on the terrace. Everything one needs for self catering has been provided.
The decor throughout is very tasteful, especially the kitchen. The air conditioning and ceiling fans were an absolute must in the upstairs apartment as it was very warm inside when outside temperatures were in the high 30s. Although mosquito nets are on the windows, but not on the front door, they need a little attention as holes are appearing. Repellant with high DEET content is essential!
The welcome pack and support from David was lovely. He is a great ambassador for the area and its numerous delights - restaurants/sightseeing opportuniities.
All in all a fabulous holiday experience. Definitely intend to make a return visit.
Thank you Richard and Jane for making our holiday stay so memorable.

Thank you for your comments , so pleased you enjoyed your stay and loved the area. Unfortunately the size of the dishwasher which is a slim line one is limited by the size of the kitchen downstairs .
The mosquito nets on the windows are replaced each spring - but unfortunately the odd hole does appear as the summer progresses !
We hope to welcome you back to Casa Foelas in the near future .

“If you think you know Italy, even more reason to visit...”
Reviewed July 23, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Stayed here whilst considering the area for my own rental property acquisition.
The lower apartment of this 'casa' is beautifully furnished with all the little touches that make you feel you are staying in a boutique residence - stylish clean interior decoration, great modern bathroom and wet room, crisp white linen, all the gadgets and gizmos in kitchen and living room to make it home from home for any age. The exterior leads out to a sun filled patio with canopied dining area to offer shade and insect free al fresco dining under the orange trees with a magnificent uninterrupted view out down the valley. There is talk of a pool installation soon which will make it even more impressive but even as stands it is a very relaxing location where you can unwind in comfort and feel you have everything you need whilst also being in one of the most relaxed areas of Italy I have yet seen. It offers impressive hill top towns, religious sites, mountain valleys and villages where the river water is so clear and the waterfalls so abundant that the Pope's pasta is made here in a special site. The coast is only a short drive away and offers fascinating Trabocchi 'fishing jetties' which double up as rustic restaurants in season along the long stretch of relaxed coastline scattered with towns, restaurants and promenades. I came with no knowledge of Abruzzo, having spent many years in the west parts of Italy and the major cities. I found here a great little slice of the good life with very little of the hassle, bustle and expense of some of those places. Even getting here from Rome was a joy on the 'prontabus' direct from the airport (which you can book in the UK online!) with free wifi, free waiter served espressos and water, as we drove across the country through some spectacular countryside. So even access was much easier than I could have imagined. All in all - a great place to stay - not least to see how a rental property in such a fabulous location can and should be done to a standard that guarantees you want to come back time and again.

Liked best: The stylishness of the place with all the finishing touches in such a simple, clean, tranquil way.
Liked least: Returning home to Blighty after feeling I had completely chilled under the orange trees.

“Great holiday house for quiet uninterrupted rest.”
Reviewed July 23, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We had a really good time staying at casa Foelas. The house is very clean and spacious, which is hard to understand by looking at pics. Children really enjoyed the mesanine were they found lots of toys and games. bedrooms are large with great beds and bed linen and aircon. Kitchen has all things you need. Nets on the windows kept all insects out - considering that the house in the rural area we hardly had any crawling guests in two weeks (no ants in the house). And most important is the area outside: barbecue and marquee was or favourite place to hang out in the evenings.
Speady Wifi was also good addition.
So absolutely recommended, but bear in mind that location is remote and car is a must.

“A true home from home”
Reviewed May 15, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This is a wonderful property where the owners have clearly thought of every detail to make our stay truly memorable. The views from the balcony of the first floor apartment are particularly worthy of note. There are some great restaurants in the area and some scenic mountain top villages to explore. The apartment was comfortable and clean and we would highly recommend both the property and the area. We will be back soon we hope. Ps the owners' idea of sending renters a loan sat nav as part of the rental is a great idea,

“Fabulous area, wonderful apartment”
Reviewed October 29, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Never been to Abruzzo before and, compared to more northern parts of Italy and to the Amalfi coast, it is just so much more relaxed and natural. Not a lot of English spoken, but that doesn't seem to matter - everyone is just so friendly and helpful.
The apartment (top floor of two) is in the country, about 3km from the hill town of Casoli. The apartment has beautiful views over the valley to Casoli and beyond
The property manager, who is English lives about 50 metres away and is an absolute star!.

The house is spacious, beautifully furnished and fitted and no detail has been overlooked by the owners. Fans and air conditioning in the two bedrooms made the temperature very comfortable.
It lies about 20 minutes by a direct road from the beautiful coast and a similar time (although it depends which part you want to visit) from the mountainous areas and the myriad of wonderfully atmospheric hill top towns that abound in the region.

We went in Sept: the main tourist season (which is mainly for Italians, it seems) finishes abruptly at the end of August, so the roads and beaches were, in Sept, virtually deserted - wonderful. The local restaurants can be a hit and miss re their opening times at this time of year, but worth while when you get there.
Our dealings with the owners were easy and relaxed. They were very obliging in every respect..
We dont normally return to holiday places, but this one might be the exception to our rule. It was wonderful.
One word of warning: dont always trust the satnav in this area. We ended up in a few farmyards!!
Oh, and you DO need a car!
