What a great little restaurant. We were looking for something off of the tourist path and certainly found it in Osteria Battaglino. I called to confirm they were open and my name was taken despite being assured a reservation was not necessary this evening. Upon arrival we were seated immediately and within a few minutes time the chef arrived to advise that they do not have an English menu, but he would explain all of the menu to us verbally. He did so without hesitation and we ordered primi dished of Spaghetti Bolognese and Fish Soup. The spaghetti was freshly made in house and along with the proper amount of sauce served, was fantastic. The Fish Soup was served with toasted bread laid upon it and the fish was fresh and clean tasting. For main dishes we had a lightly fried seafood platter that included Calamari, Shrimp, and two types of small fish. The seafood was fried in a light and flavorful batter that allowed the seafood to shine through. We also had a main of roasted veal, which was tender and had great flavor. We finished the meal with a chocolate custard and candied oranges. All of this combined with a great bottle of wine from a small local Cascina. Great atmosphere, service, and food. Not to be missed.

We have visited this restaurant in late october (specially planned for the truffle season). It's a rather small restaurant producing excellent local dishes. Yes of course they are blessed to use the white-truffle but really the other dishes are aso very good! The menu at 35euro is a great deal(4-courses) but obviously the supplements for the white-delight are significant. If you do not take truffle, the prices can be easily halfed, but we paid 180euro's for 2 adults + 2 kids sharing a pasta dish, but it was worth every cents!! I will try it again in the non-truffle season!

Excellent food served by the chef, Marco, who was knowledgeable and fun. This is a favorite restaurant of a local winemaker we had been visiting and who joined us for lunch. He opened her wines for us and shared a glass. We all tried one another's meals and everything was exquisite.

Our group of four travelled in Italy for two weeks. We never had a bad meal, we had some mediocre ones and some really good ones, but our dinner at Osteria Batarglino made all other meals pale in comparison. Fresh, seasonal, local, unique family recipes; personable service; pretty well-paced for an Italian restaurant. I can see how Flavia can be perceived as bossy. With us, she was very professional, but also funny and generous. The chef came out and talked to us personally. If you are there in the fall, pray that you are lucky and pumpkin gnocchi are on the menu. They were simply divine.

Let's make a premise: food was not bad at all (though, you might be able to find around the area something better for less money).
What I really couldn't stand is the way the lady taking orders was treating us. It might happen now and then that people are not used to this kind of atmosphere; it is up to the host to make you feel at home. Instead, we felt the she was patronizing (we were almost laughed at because one of us ordered a beer) and confrontational.

This all exploded when we told her that we waited almost one and a half hour for our pasta; which is when an argument started (it is her home, and if we do not appreciate the way they do things, we should leave) and we ended up outside the restaurant (kicked out, basically). At least we didn't pay in the end (she didn't want us to)!
