Clean hotel with spacious rooms. Nice location as it's right on the beach and close to everything. Great for family or large groups. Nice restaurant/bars close by. Staff were friendly and spoke enough English to make it easy to ask for things. La Mata is a cozy place that is perfect for a relaxing holiday.

We stayed at lloyds beach for over 2 weeks in May 2013, as we have visited this area a few times previously and admired this hotels location. Our dream holiday was not what we expected.
The hotel apartments are basic...I had to go out and buy knives and other essential kitchen utensils . The utensils there were fit for the bin. Crockery was chipped. The bedroom was very small and musty and dark. The front door kept getting the key stuck in it and despite asking for someone to have a look, no one did. The sunbeds on the solarium were rusty and torn and generally crotty..The weather as awful which did,nt help and the rain poured in the patio doors onto the tiled floors. The heating was a hit and miss as it was cold and the staff were not very friendly. The gym was not open as advertised. The hotel itself needed a lick of paint. The pool was cold.. I would not go back here, but location is excellent. Thats the only positive thing about it. Staff and Manager very rude and unfriendly.... Over priced...Really only a 2 star hotel. You have to give a deposit for the T,.V remote and a charge for the safe in bedroom. Limited chanels on the T,V. Towels supplied were threadbear and old....

Room Tip: dont go there.... better hotels in the area, and staff have to be more polite than here, a smile wou...

A lovely hotel but the real high point is the Il Bacio Restaurant, which is run separately but part of the complex. If you are a bit of a foodie you will love this and the wine list is amazing. The restaurant staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine. This is a great fine and we have just re booked.

Room Tip: The place was build in the 80's but kept very clean and 6ft from a lovely beach.

Stayed here for 10 days mid April. Shared an apartment with a friend. Pleasantly suprised by the space, there is a large double bedroom downstairs with a big wardrobe and a safety deposit box ( key). A shower room/ toilet with quality fittings and good supply of hot water and shelf space. The living room consisted of a full kitchen, oven, 4 ring hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and good range of pots, crockery and cutlery. Also a small balcony and a new flatscreen tv. Didn't use the aircon as it was early season. The single upstairs bedroom was accessed by a spiral staircase and also had a door to the large sunbalcony. This had decent sunloungers, big table and 4 chairs and a barbcue chimney and got sun early morning til evening- excellent! It was cleaned and towels changed daily.
Lloyds club itself has a gym and small but nice pool with easy access to the beach and restaurants etc. Beach was peaceful and quiet with a lovely breeze. The reception was open til midnight and very helpful staff.
5 min walk to small town with a good supermarket, a tabac, a butchers and a fantastic bakery!
Plenty of varied restaurants my fave being the Argentine Grill next to Lloyds Club.
Torrevieja is 10 min drive away and plenty to do. Large supermarkets on the outskirts.
We had a very peacefull holiday and got plenty of sun. I would definately go back to Lloyds Club.

Well it had been five years since I had been abroad so was very much looking forward to going away and with my previous holidays being 'party holidays', I was looking for something different and that's what I got.

We had an apartment just of the left from the pool on the ground floor. We had expected to have two bedrooms and a sofa bed, so dependant on how you look at it it was either better or worse, for us better. We got one rather large room in the basement, with one bit sectioned off to create a sort of a room but with six beds in the basement this meant no sharing a sofa bed which was a bonus. But with two couples and two single people I felt there was a lack of privacy for the couples but overall worked well for us. NB. Please do be careful on the spiral staircase to get down to the bathroom and bedroom, bit dodgy to start but by mid week you get used to them!!

We went from 6th Oct 12 for a week, the last week in the seaon for them and so it more or less felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. There were a few other couples there, all very polite. The beach is literally at the edge of the hotel and it's a beautiful beach with a lovely sea, great to swin in. Saw a great sunrise one morning. The pool is quite small but as it was mainly just use that used it it was perfect.

The kitchen had everything you could need (well we bought proper mugs but thats because we like our tea). There is a supermarket close by along with pharmacy, clothes shops, and a lovely bakery (I'm glad we only found this on the last day!!!)

We visited the local town, Torrvieja on one of the days, we got a taxi, only a couple of euros each. Lovely town with lots of shops and restuarants. On one of the days we went to the Market at La Mata, so many stalls and some great deals to be had!!!

Cleaners were fab and came in every day with fresh towels. We didnt use the TV we would often go for walks in the evening and alternated going out for dinner with staying in and cooking. There have some cheap meal deal restuarants in La Mata so an all round bargain holiday.

This holiday hit the spot, relaxing, yet enough to do and I imagine even more so with a car!!

Also we were pleasantly suprised with the weather with going in October, around 28-30 each day so we got great tans!!

We have just returned after 1 week. the dates were15th to 22nd of Sept 2012. We did not have a good experience. It would seem it depended on which appartment you were allocated, whether you were pleased with your accommodation. We did not have a balcony, it was a railed area, round the patio door to provent you falling from the 1st floor to the ground. We did not have a view of the sea or the pool, but overlooked the walkway and the appartments across the way. So not as advertised. The place is in need of a refurb. as it is looking very tired. But the cleaning staff did a good job of keeping everything spic and span. the worst part of the holiday for us was the bed it was appalling! Springs sticking up in places, so much so, I ended sleeping on the sofa for 6 nights. My husband spread his body over the bed but he did not sleep well. They also allow dogs at this place, I love dogs, but not when they bark and whine at night and early morning. The t.v. has 1 channel in english world news and thats it. So you had to go out in the evening. There was a lot of bars and eating places but no local entertainment. you have to go into the next town fot that. The location is the only good point for this place right on the beach.

We stayed for a few days a family of four adults and two children. apartments are large basic and comfortable. downstairs sleeping with a separate double room and a large room with a double and two singles all very comfortable. shared large bathroom downstairs also. lounge and kitchen with breakfast bar seating. outside private seating area fairly small but an added bonus but overlooked. Pool great to rinse off salt from sea swimming:) parking is on street on the one way system. difficult to park when report is busy especially once the spanish hit the beach. beach was clean and the sea was fairly shallow for the first ten yards. good for snorkling lots of fish. good base for local busy resorts and attractions especially rio safari zoo. plenty of restaurants on beach front just walk down special board walk directly outside hotel entrance. we would definitely stay there again reasonable prices.
