I wanted a cheap hotel near to Paris and Versailles. This Etap fitted the bill. The Staff were pleaseant and helpfull and seemed to be on the reception 24 Hours.I travelled there with a friend on my motorcycle and felt very comfortable leaving the bike in the private carpark which was locked at night. As mentioned in a previous review there are extensive roadworks taking place as there is a tramway being installed but apart from the satnav wanting to take me around a roundabout which was no longer there,no real problems locating the Hotel(there is a sign if you look) and the entrance to the hotel complex looks like an entrance to a office complex with a security kiosk but soon becomes clear it is the correct entrance due to the signs posted.Bed was comfy, linen clean as were the carpets,no air con,as previously mentioned but found not to be a problem.Extra towels were available from reception upon request and if there will be two,or more,in the room I would recommend you ask as a matter of course.Shower and water was nice and hot and plentifull.Reasonable amount of resturants close by,Indian,Chinese,Pizza, and a couple of national chain, Hippopotamus and Chez Clement,Carrefour is also close by on Rue General De Gaulle and a couple of post offices,if like me you had bought gifts that you cannot carry home with you.BUT the post offices do not sell packing tape or wrapping paper so if your items do not fit in a box prepare to hunt! .Public transport was good 6 bus routes 289 would take one into Paris Porte St Cloud or Val Fleury RER which takes 40- 60 mins dependant on traffic route to versailles is similar with change at Val Fleury for Versailles. All very easy and un-intimidating.Ideal for students and back packers I would have thought.Would stay again. Some fruit for breakfast would have been nice and individual bread cobs too.

We booked this particular hotel because we were having a hard time finding accomodations in this particular area. It was pretty much the only "reasonably priced" hotel that could accomodate us. Us being, two adults and one child and our friends (couple) traveling with their dog. We needed someplace close to both Versailles and Paris. While the location was good, the hotel was not. We have stayed in other hotels in Paris/Velizy before and did not realize that it was important to check to see if the hotel had air conditioning in the rooms....which it does not. Our rooms were miserably hot! I would recommend bringing a fan, if a cheap hotel is a must. The shower stall is okay-sized, but lacked enough water pressure to clean anything. Note-the water would switch to scalding hot for no reason....important if you have small children or like your skin!!! I have only one other complaint about the hotel....THE BREAKFAST! When I approached the tray area, I could smell an awful, sour smell. I picked up one of the trays and it was wet. I put it back down and sniffed the area and then my hand and I nearly vomited. It was putrid! Needless to say, I washed my hand and decided to eat my breakfast on a napkin instead. There were baguettes, breads, jam, cereal and orange juice on the bar. One bizarre item was scalding hot milk on a hot plate that was the only milk for cereal (cold cereal selection only). While we were eating, we noticed the receptionist cleaning the breakfast bar area. She rinsed the trays and then sprayed something on them, wiped it with a cloth that was on the counter and then set the trays back on the bar. She then wadded up the cloth and threw it back on the counter and returned to her desk. We suspected that this was the source of the disgusting smell on the trays. Anyway, I would like to leave a few positive comments. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the beds, well...not so bad. It might be worth mentioning that it also has an elevator. If you are looking for a hotel on a tight budget and don't mind toting along a fan, then this would be the place for you.

After several hours browsing internet, looking for pictures of Etap "Hotel", i was unable to find anything. Before getting to the "hotel", i was hearing terrific histories about Etap Hotel from my workmates, who already stayed in the past.

Point by point, everything was true. The entrance to the building promises a lot, but when you get to the reception desk, you get real.

It is not a question of the "hotel" being dirty. It's the whole building materials. It seems a toy hotel. The walls and the floor are build of a material not very comfortable. The corridors are kind of hospital walking area.

The place is quite calm, but the bed is probably the hardest i've ever been lying on. Well, the beds, because there're two beds, upper side, down side.

The only good point is the extra charge (10€) broadband internet connection (wireless).

Additional advice: Do not use the lifts, do not taste the breakfast, turn on the small heating because the room will probably cold thanks to the non-optional fan in the upper side of the wall, do not ring the room service because there's no room service.
