I would like to comment on the quality of the accommodation provided. I had room 1 which was at the back of the hotel, it was spacious and very comfortable and well appointed. The friendliness of the staff was notable.
I had a bad cold and the end of an excellent meal asked the waiter what drink he would recommend, thinking of a liqueur and his reply was that he would be happy to make me a hot toddy, which he did. That personal note makes all the difference.

We were invited to join some friends who were having a weekend break at the pub, as they have done before. They insisted on showing me their room, which was spacious and beautifully decorated, more like an international hotel than a pub, though I did think £140 B&B was a bit steep, but didn't say so to them. However, the food was brilliant and a choice difficult to make. When we'd placed our order, they took the mussels off the blackboard and substituted a fish soup, which we'd have had if it had been there earlier. It's obvious that they keep replacing stuff which sells out to maintain choice. That's good. The mussels were, in fact, delicious, as was the pork chop - probably the most tender I've eaten. There was a choice of dauphinoise, new or chipped potatoes. We had the cheese for pudding and though they didn't tell us what it was, it was delicious. Our friends had the flapjack crumble (which was said to be a tad stodgy) and lemon tart (pronounced 'divine'). The young man serving us, whom - I was told - was one of the two brothers who own the place, was friendly and attentive. The wine list was extensive and good, as was the beer. The parking is difficult as another review mentions, but that can be overcome. Altogether a great place. Deserves to do well.

We have dined here several times recently, it is so consistently good. It is always busy so make sure you book as there is no alternative nearby if you turn up and they are full.
Would highly recommend their Vignonier wine to accompany some great food. The menu in short and changes frequently, even on the evening itself, confident kitchen.

We chose this pub as a half way meeting point purely because of the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed. Yes parking can be difficult but there is a side road nearby which was fine and I liked the fact that there are notices asking you to let the bar know if you have double parked and then they sort it out when someone needs to leave. And it is probably the only place I have sen people queuing to get in! Thats because they must know what a gem it is and want to be sure of a table. Best roast beef Sunday lunch Ive eaten out. All fresh and nothing out of a bag as you get a lot of these days. Really was first class. Great interior, polite friendly staff. I liked the fact that if something on the menu board ran out, it was promptly removed so you weren't disappointed if ordered and then found out ... But also .. And not seen before, new dishes were put on the board to fill the gaps. Brilliant. Highly recommended. I found prices perfectly reasonable considering the location,, ambience and quality of food - 2 pints, 3 soft drinks, 2 roast beef mains and 2 desserts for £48. Booking recommended.

Called in here for lunch without a reservation but were able to eat in the bar - clearly and rightly a popular place. Food was excellent, service very friendly and welcoming, beer very good too! Would definitely call again, and perhaps have the works, and even get one of the rooms to stay.
