“Amazing Food”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Almost dont want to share this place its so good. Stumbled across it after a walk and we had a couple of refreshing pints of local largers we were so impressed with the welcome we went back in the evening. They were full so we could not book a table but managed to get a table in the bar. The food was the best we have eaten in a long long time. Worth every penny. Small menu all freshly cooked but impressively as the evening progressed and one or two dishes sold out replacements were ready and on offer on the menu board. Tom and his staff at the front of house make you feel so welcome. His brother, Will, and his chefs in the kitchen are obviously heading towards genious level. We wish these two brothers the best of luck in the future they deserve every plaudit they get. And yes we will be going back and hopefully staying a couple of nights in the hotel.

“Go And Treat Yourself”
Reviewed October 5, 2012 via mobile

We have spent a lot of time in the Cotswolds over the years and eaten in some really excellent restaurants and pubs. We discovered the Horse and Groom after a lengthy walk and were immediately struck by the friendliness of the staff and the welcome they offered. The same evening we returned for a meal and despite being fully booked they squeezed us into the bar area. The meal we had was without a doubt one of the best I have ever eaten anywhere and my wife thought the same. If you are anywhere near this pub go and give yourself a treat, you will not be disappointed, I promise you.

“Wonderful friendly pub”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

We stayed in the Cotswold area for one week and managed to eat at the HOrse and Groom twice. It was fabulous. The food was fresh and delicious. The desserts (Granny G's Toffee Meringue) was one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. The service was also very friendly and prompt. Be sure to make a reservation, as they book up early. We made our reservation months in advance for the night we arrived in England. They were booked for the following nights, so we sat on their doorstep waiting for the bar to open at 6:00pm, and were able to get a table in the bar. The bar menu is the same as the restaurant menu. They also have chocolate candy (made there) in packages at the bar. It is also excellent. We brought two packages back to the States. Wonderful place that I highly recommend. The Johnsons

“Lovely friendly pub.”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We weren't meant to be eating at the Horse & Groom on the Friday evening we turned up without having booked, we had initially booked a pub meal in the nearby village of Great Wolford but when we went in the place was soulless, no welcome and the few people that were there seemed to be speaking in whispers. A quick drink and we left. The Horse & Groom was at the other end of the spectrum, packed out at 7:30 there was a happy buzz about the place, we were greeted by a very friendly landlord who apologised for not having any restaurant tables free but explained that if we were prepared to have a drink and take a chance on one of the bar tables coming free he would try to fit us in. Luckily we agreed. Within 20 minutes we were seated and enjoying an excellent meal served by the pubs young and friendly staff. Well worth a visit, but unlike us we recommend you book first.
