“Good family hotel”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

We stayed here Jan 2nd for 2 weeks. Overall very good but a couple of things that I would change.
FOOD. Usual AI stuff no better or worse than any other AI resort, although my wife likes pancakes at breakfast time and they did not do any. One restaurant for all meals but snack available by the pool to save you getting changed and going to restaurant.
DRINKS. Drinks ok wine a bit sour, only drink beer and white wine so can not comment on other drinks.
POOL, To small for hotel, but seemed ok as never full at any one time, pleasantly surprised as it was warm when you got in, maybe heated not sure but warm enough for me, which was good.
SUNBATHING. Packed out by the pool, nice area near our room up by the broken Jacuzzi, very quite area and if you get room 442 or there abouts you can walk out from your terrace to sunbathing area.
WATERPARK, Free entrance very good but water was freezing, nice to get in hotel pool after this.
ENTERTAINMENT. OK, but good snake show, parrot show and eagle show the children loved it.
BEACH. You have to walk out of the hotel entrance pasta few shops to get there, but no need to put on flip flops etc just walk out in your swimming gear. Very dark sand sea very rough, warm enough to swim in, which surprised me, not the best beach but it done the job.
GRIPES. No drinks to table from waiters at evening meal you had to help yourself, more like a canteen. Strange rules 1. There is a bar in the arena plaza which opens sometime in the afternoon, however they will not serve AI drinks until six oclock you have to buy them if you want them. 2. Beer in the waterpark, For AI you can not get beer in the waterpark, at first I thought this was due to health and safety, but no, you have to buy it, very strange.
WEATHER. Excellent much better than I thought it would be, I was apprehensive about going in January as I had never been at that time of year, only long haul, brilliant weather, the hotel does not get any sun until 11 clock the hotel opposite get sun all day, but not a problem as by the time you have had breakfast etc 11 clock soon comes.

Room Tip: Sun bath near the broken Jacuzzi and try to get a room on this level as very handy to go in and out...

we travelled as a family of 4, children aged 4 and 2.

Room was clean and spacious and balconies are huge! Beds were comfy and there was plenty of wardrobe space, bathroom was spacious and had a bath with shower over. There were some signs of wear and tear in the bathroom, but other than that the room was in very good condition. Nice mexican pine furniture in lounge.

The pool area, pool was a good temperature and along as you kept moving you kept warm. There was also a large sand pit/play area for kids which had loads of buckets, spades and toys provided our kids loved this and spent several hours playing in the sand whilst we lay nearby on sun loungers! Pool bar had a basic variety of drinks, it is help your self to coffee/tea/soft drinks. You can also get snacks at the pool bar between restaurant times, which consist of burger/cheese&ham toastie/hotdog.

The restaurant I thought was very good selection of food, they have a pizza bar which is open lunch and dinner, at lunch they have a thai food bar with very tasty dishes there and at dinner they have a grill side with 3 different types of fish or meat, this is along a huge area of different pasta and rice dishes and tons of veggies and salads a whole station for just bread and two for fruit and desserts/ice cream. I found something everyday that I liked. Some people complain that it gets repetitive but I think that of course it will when your eating at the same place everyday, thats what all inclusive is.

Tthe beach is amazing! as there are huge huge huge waves that come over your head we really enjoyed jumping the waves! and kids loved beach, we hired a car while we were in gran canaria and also went to puerto rico beach and puerto mogan both lovely. The WATERPARK wasfab its on site and if you staying AI its free! but the water is freezing! absolutely freezing! kids enjoyed the pirate ship which had two tiny slides and my hubby really enjoyed all the fast flumes, great fun!

There is a daily mini club and mini disco, kids loves that, animation team are good.

Go to the Krabi spa over the road 10 euro for 1 person or 15 euro for 2, well worth it! and I had a massage there....best Ive ever had!

The down side of staying here was that our cleaner was RUBBISH! we arrived on a fri and on the mon we still had not had the room cleaned or fresh towels, I phoned reception and someone later came and swept made the beds but no towels which i had to again phone reception and the towels were sent up within 30 mins. No one cleaned tues and again on the weds no clean, on the weds afternoon 4pm I was getting fed up with it and had a rant at reception, as in 5 days had got one set of fresh towels no fresh sheets, and the floors desperately needing sweeping with all the sand the kids bring in, the receptionist (YASMINE) said she would sort it, at 7pm a cleaner arrived as we were getting kids showered for dinner and I just said to leave the sheets and towels on the side so she did but looked really miserable about it! so i made all the beds up! the next day there was no cleaning, so when I saw the trolley in our hall way i just took some fresh towels!
This was the only thing that spoilt the stay a little, but we did make friends with another fam there and they said the had there room cleaned everyday and fresh towels! so it was just a moody cleaner!

ALL IN ALL WE WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN!

Hotel is lovely very clean jus returned from a week holiday the water slides are good would be great for kids. Not much to do there as it is three hotels inside a mountain all owned by Paradise. It is only 7 Euros in a taxi to Peurto Morgan which is a nlovely little village or 12 Euros to Peurto Rico which is better to go out and have a drink as it is more lively. There are plenty of bars and shops very cheap loveky restaurants and McDonalds. Bus from just by the hotel is 2.80 Euros for 2 adults and they are always on time if you went out till late would probally need to get a taxi back but it is not really expensive. There is a beach right by the hotel very nice can hire boats, jet skis and othe things. The food is okay however it did seem to be mostly the same stuff everyday but it is eadable. Drinks are nice cocktails, beer, wine, slush. There is a snack bar by the heated pool which serves burgers, hotdogs and toasties at various times through the day. The shows were good. There is an arcade, pharmacy, supermarket and shops right by the hotel also restaurants by the beach. Nice holiday would stay again.

We stayed at lago taurito in october sorry this is abit late but im getting sick of seeing people dis this hotel! Me and my husband and two children 3 and 6 love this hotel it was the third time we had been and are even thinking of booking again this year, as it has every thing you look for in a family holiday the food is fantastic! My son is very fussy with food but there was always something on for him and you dont have to go to the canteen evey time as they do food around the pool etc toasties, burgers hotdogs and ice cream! Even tea and hotchocolate! Yes The rooms are dated but what does that matter when you only sleep in them there cleaned every other day thats what matters the balconies are very big with a table and chairs even a clothes liner! We could always get a sun lounger around the pool ther was a kids club that my kids loved and the animation team wer fantastic with them, always on the go , the water park is also out of this world yes it's salt water but I really don't see why people moan about this, theres slides and pools for the whole family and you don't have to pay for beds you have to pay for the blue mattress cushions and umbrellas €2 each but you don't have to have these also soft drinks and again like the pool food are all free so you don't need to leave the waterpark if you don't want to,entertainment on a night was good starting with the kids disco then animation team did shows always getting everyone involved!yes there's one bar but you always got served quit fast there's an arcade with bowling alley and trampolines every thing you need to keep kids entertained. It is out of the way and you do need to catch a bus or taxi to get to with mogan or porta RICO but it's only about €2-€3and doesn't take that long there's a small supermarket pharmacy and doctors aswell as quiet a few duty free shops there's even a hairdresses and beautitions so to be quiet honest you don't have to leave the complex if you don't want to there is literally every thing you need there! The one thing I will say to people is that only go to this hotel if you have kids or don't mind them as most people that moan on here are couples or elderly and at the end of the day kids are kids there on holiday and there having fun if you don't want this then go stay in one of the quieter hotels ! You really carnt fault this hotel it's amazing and I hope if your booking or already booked this hotel this helps settle your mind because there's really nothing to worry about it's great!

This hotel was clean and very welcoming well worth the money that our party of 10 paid for it. At first glance it is amazing but u are very limited as to what to do. The swimming pool needs to be bigger but when we went just before half term this was a problem until the holidays kicked in the water park is fab the only criticism is the water is SALT yes that's right and it gets a bit much after an hr!! The animation team was very entertaining for the children but as adults we found it to be very very cheesy but when u have had a drink it's bearable (just!!) all in all if u r looking for a cheap family holiday right next to beach with a waterpark on ur doorstep this is the place for u but we would only recommend a wks stay 10 days was just too long :))

The location for this hotel is great but the service and cleanliness was sub par!
We had upgraded to a family suite and that for your information includes nothing, no cutlery or dishes of any kind what so ever! Our door had been repaired as it had been kicked in and our room was filthy on arrival. Staff came by 1 time During the week to change out our towels. Food was repetitive and by day four it was like eating army issue food.
With that being said the location is great close to the beach and it does have a good water park for kids but be prepared to pay extra there. Public transport to Puerto Mogan is cheap, a couple of Euros. Booting line for our family was that the sun and location were awesome but we would probably stay elsewhere next time.
And yes do watch out for the pool guy! He is a mad man with the hose. He is worth getting up early to see!

We stayed here in August 2011, sorry we are late in writing our review. We stayed all inclusive for one week, and we really enjoyed our stay, we wish we had booked for either 10nights or may be two weeks. At the time of booking with First choice, (over 12 months prior to 2011) we were a little concerned with the reviews, especially us going main bank holiday, however we were very surprised with the hotel resort, and other facilities. Firstly we thought it would be so busy we would not be able to get a sunbed, get good seating in restuarant ie food choice, get served at pool bar, etc etce but not once we're we disappointed with the service. The only one down point was that the room we thought we booked and what was stated in brochure 2010 did not have the lounge and bedroom, we were given a very high floor room, in which we asked for a low floor, and it was only 1 room, However the guy at reception was helpful, moved us the following day to a ground floor with 2 sunbeds and a great view, and its own patio. However it was stil only 1 room, He offered the family room but at a discounted price. The first choice rep, was very young new at the job, and not very helpful, even though she pointed out that the brochure was wrongly printed and apologised!!!! We thought as a gesture of goodwill we thought she would sort out the family room, we did go and see it but the location was not as good as the floor ground with its own patio. Again we were only goin to be there for a week, so we thought forget about it, After this mess we did enjoy the rest of the holiday, Food was excellent, yeah always had chips etc but the food was always hot and the buffet areas were always clean. We could get a table at all times, drink on tape so you could help yourself, wine was not that good though, we drank the beer. Pool bar excellent, the guy remembered what you had! good pleasant service. Pool not big however you have the water park in the middle this was free entry. However the pool guys were strict, one day they let our youngest go on the slides and then the next he said no!!!!however we did not let it spoil the holiday. The kids loved this hotel and the water park, they even made friends with some spanish children. It seem that the locals go to the park at the weekends, it was very busy then. In the park you could only get soft drinks and the food was very unlimited and at certain times. Lovely small beach and the other hotels looked nice too. Very clean, nice small shops near by, Bus'es were regular and cheap too. Puerto Morgan, was very family oriented, oldie worldly feel. Great duty free shops, lovely beach nice places to eat and drink. It is as it is on all the postcards. We would go there again, The main resort Puerto Rico, we did not like, as soon as you got off the bus, you had timeshares/people jumping out on you, very pushy, so we will not go there again.
Overall you pay for what you get and we believed that we got this holiday at a very good price and we would stay here again that's for sure. If you believe in everything what people complain about you would not go anywhere, I do believe that you have to go yourself and judge yourself. Lastly we do have some great photos of this holiday so if you need to see or get any more info please feel free to send me a message. Book and enjoy. By the way it was very hot in August, over 45 degrees.Happy holiday.

Room Tip: some low floors have their own patio area with sunbeds and overlooking the water park/pool
