“amazing holiday”
Reviewed July 26, 2010

Just returned from a three night stay at the suite princess. We booked our flights and transfers indepently and booked the hotel through Thomsons,We decided to split our stay between two different resorts as we had never been to Gran canaria before.
This is probably one of the best beach hotels that I have stayed in.
Reception _staff were very professional and helpful. We were upgraded to premium all inclusive and we had a room on the top floor with amazing views.(free safe bottled water and wine and fruit in the room plus tea and coffee making facilities)
The rooms were very modern and spacious .The bed was massive.
The restaurant and bar staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing there was so much choice and availability all day.
The pool area was lovely and we were always able to get a sunbed. There were plently of activities in the day if that is what you want.
Overall we had an excellent holiday and didn't want to leave as we had been spoilt at this hotel. Will definitely return! Thankyou for a great holiday.

Just back from a holiday at the Suite Princess and what a fabulous holiday we had. Most of the recent reviews have been spot on whereas a number of the earlier ones we read before we booked in our opinion proved to be rubbish. We cannot fault the hotel. The reception was excellent, the rooms really spacious with a huge bed (two singles pushed together),the balcony massive and sea facing as they all are with great views and sun most of the day (ideal to have a gin and tonic before before getting ready for the evening meal).
The hotel recently refurbished is spotless and the staff efficient and non intrusive but always polite and willing to help.
The food was wonderful with plenty of choice in both the main restaurant and the Tapas Bar.
The entertainment was varied the best of which was a three man Motown trubute group and the worst the animal acts which having seen one (the birds of prey) we decided were better boycotting as they seemed to be exploiting the animals in order to sell photographs of them with guests. There is an issue in the entertainment room with pillars obscuring views.
The all incusive was great with the self service stations - no queuing for drinks and even when relying on service at a bar there was little or no waiting. With food available most of the day a lot of self restraint is required to keep that wait down.We did have a slight issue with the upgrading making some people more inclusive than others.
There were plenty of activites to join in with but you never felt obliged to if you didnt want to.The Animacion Team were never pushy in this regard and as mentioned in other reviews Dominique is barmy and a joy to watch at work.
The resort is quiet just the sort of place we look for but very isolated with nowhere to walk (although there is a great local bus service and taxis) the other resorts are linked with walkways set in the cliffs and Taurito is crying out for such a link to the exceptionally pretty Puerto Mogan which is just round the corner via the coast but a few miles by the road (along which you cannot walk).
Best of all ADULTS ONLY .We have children so not anti but what a joy it was to have such a peaceful holiday and long may this option continue to be available but as the hotel was was far from full one wonders
All in all a perfect holiday. We may not go back because we look to go to places where we havent been but would certainly hope to find hotels to match this one which we would highly recommend

I have travelled to all the canary islands and stayed in some lovely hotels so I feel well qualified to give readers of this sight a totally honest opinion which I hope they will take notice of. Thomsons class this hotel as five star which it is not. It is a four star over 16s only, but that is the only negative thing I have to say about this place. The rooms are very spacious, just as the pictures show. The hotel has been refurbished and everything is clean and tidy. The food option we had no problems with, something for everyone, although a few people did say they thought the dining room looked a bit like a canteen I didnt have that opinion myself. The all inclusive was great no queing at the bar during the day everything is self service. In the evening some drinks like beer sangria wines are self service then spirits and cocktails are served by the staff at the bar. The staff were wonderful from the dining staff , reception , waiters and the evening bar staff were excellent (have to say a couple of them were very good looking young men ! ) they were all very friendly and polite nothing was too much trouble. The animation team were there both day and night (dominique has more energy than I could ever possibly muster!) The evening entertainment was a mixed bag, the usual circuit actsof dancers, singers, parrot and reptile shows etc but a few over the two weeks we were there were very good. The area around the hotel is quiet, a couple of shops and a supermarket of sorts. There is a Lido next to the hotel for public use which looks good but you dont need to visit as the hotel pools are more than adequate. Pueto Mogan is the next place along where you will find a pretty fishing harbour and shops and bars, the market which was very good is on Fridays but get there for 9am it gets busy and very hot! If you do not have transfers included from the airport then a taxi will cost you 65 euros each way . Pool towels are provided and maid service is everyday with clean towels for the room. All rooms have a sea view , we were on the third floor over looking the hotel gardens then out to sea, which wasnt far at all. The beach is only yards away. The views are fantastic.I really didnt want to leave this place and usually after two weeks I am ready to return home but not this time. Would I recommend this hotel?......definately. would I return to this hotel?......you bet I would ! booking for October 2010.

This is a fantastic hotel. I am very fussy about cleanliness of eating areas and food hygiene, however this was not a problem as the food was lovely, whole area spotless. Food fresh and really lot of choice from both snack bar and restaurant.
Staff are very helpful and friendly. Pool area also very
nice with lovely sea views.
We did upgrade to premium as we Asked to looked at
a premium room and we thought it was much nicer.
this also gave us a wider variety of branded drinks. I really could not find fault with this hotel. The only thing I was dissapointed with would be the beach as it is dark volcanic sand and
not as nice as it looked in the pictures, But don't let beach comment put you off the hotel as it really is a Perfect place to relax, enjoy good food, beautiful sea views and excellant service.

Me and my partner have just returned from the hotel suite princess on 8 July and have a fantastic time. We were abit unsure what to expect of our holiday after reading mixed reviews a few days before we were due to go. After spending a week here, we both felt the reviews were very unfair and some of them a complete load of rubbish! We arrived at Las Palmas airport at 1:15am, after an excellent and on-time flight. We were greeted by our thompson rep and a taxi was waiting for us as we were the only guests going to hotel suite princess. The transfer to the hotel took only 45 minutes and the hotel was lovely and quiet on arrival. Check in was very straight forward and we were directed to our room. We were on the 4th floor, and when we entered the room we were really pleased. The air con was in full working order which meant the room was lovely and cool, we had a huge double bed and a bottle of water waiting for us. The view from the balcony was a major bonus for this hotel, having all the rooms looking over onto Playa Taurito and the sea. The food was brilliant, at breakfast, lunch and dinner lots of lovely food to choose from, and me been a fussy eater I thought I would struggle, but I always managed to fill my plate! The waiters were great, some say they take your plates away quickly.. but they only want to keep the place clean and you cant grumble at that. The hotel was extremerly clean, there were cleaners working up till 11:30pm. All the staff were really friendly, always saying hello when you walked past and so were the guests. The hotel attracted a mixture of ages which was really nice, and they weren't just couples, but groups and families too. The pool was lovely and quiet, but there were activities in the pool too like aqua gym and water polo which if you didn't want to join in it was good fun to watch. Always sun beds available so we never had to go put our towels down early in the morning. The weather was gorgeous, we only had 2 cloudy days but these days were still really hot, and we used these days to look around Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogan. The local bus was brilliant, and there were a bus stop at the end of the road which took you in both directions and only cost 1 euro 30 per person and was a 5 min journey to Puerto Mogan and 15 min to Puerto Rico. Taxi's could also be taken from next to the bus stop but this cost approx 5 euro 65 for the same journey. Puerto Rico wasn't a place i'd hurry back to, it was disappointing to say we had high expectations, and we nearly booked to stay there, but after visiting we are glad we didn't. All it had was a beach and a shopping centre which was ful of tacky gift shops. Puerto Mogan is beautiful, and we did go there 2 nights for a meal and walked along the beach. It was beautiful on an evening, lit up and eating your meal looking either onto the sea.. or further round onto the harbour. On departure of Gran Canaria, again all went very smoothly. We were collected by a thompson coach at 10:45pm for our 2:00am flight, it took us 1hr 15min to get to the airport due to 4 more pick up's after us. Again the flight was on time. Overall a fantastic holiday..If you just want a break with beautiful views and weather then I would definately recommend Hotel Suite Princess/Playa Taurito.

We arrived late at night from newcastle having had a nice flight with no problems on arrival after transfer which took 45 minutes on a small mini bus carrying about 8 or 10 people. We were shown to our room and found a bottle of water waiting for us the room was very spacious and the air con worked at treat.Unfortunately the water was warm as we found that the fridge is locked only to be used if you either pay extra for a black all inclusive band or hire the fridge. This i didnt class as platinum treatment also a 2 towels were provided as normal for a hotel untl you come to change them and are told that there is an ecological charge of 1euro 50 cents per towel.3 euros for me and my wife what a rip off that will really save the planet i bet the hotel put the money straight back into climate change research not.Anyhow the good points the food was good and plentiful the drinks well acceptable without having to resort to the all inclusive upgrade which gave you a few brand name drinks and fridge etc. This was however 130 euros not worth the price by any means most of the wearers thought these bands were status symbols the equivalent of there personalised number plates back home. The entertainment was also very good and some of the best i have had abroad ,so despite some niggles i would definitely reccomend this hotel if you want a quiet week with no kids to disturb the peace .The journey home however was a nightmare thanks to thomson they took is round porto rico and amadores for a tour and 6 pick ups which meant the transfer took an hour and a half instead of the usual half hour diabolical.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a week at the Princess suite in Gran Canaria. We went with Thomson on an all inclusive basis. Before the trip we read many of the reviews about the hotel and were slightly unsure about how it would be.
We could not have been more pleasantly surprised. Our flight out was on time, and upon arrival we were transferred along with 6 others via minibus straight to our resort, it took around 45 minutes.
The journey immediately demonstrates the spectacular surroundings of the island, even at night. Taurito is a secluded beach, which is happily 4 degrees warmer than any other point on the island!
Check in was quick and easy, in the vast marble reception. Our room was very spacious, clean and the air conditioning (at no extra cost) was exceptional. The beds were two singles pushed together, but were none the less very comfortable and large. There is a safety deposit box available for 12 Euros per week. The tv, should you want to watch tv whilst the sun shines outside, only really has CNN to offer you unless you speak fluent german and spanish.
The first morning we went to the welcome meeting, the two reps John and Sean were friendly and helpful, and detailed various excursions available.
The pool is pretty big, and clean. There are plenty of sunbeds and parasols, some other reviews suggested that once the hotel gets busy they would be hard to come by, but I would disagree. Beach towels are provided in your room.
The animacion (Dominique is bonkers) team wake you up at around 12 shrieking 'aqua gym', my girlfriend seemed to enjoy this a lot! I took part in the archery later in the week,. There is also skeet shooting, shuffle board, and boule on the beach to enjoy.
In Taurito itself there is a large amusements arcade (between the Princess suite and Princess taurito) which has mini golf, bowling and a bar.
On the beach you can find any watersport that takes your pleasure, There is scuba diving, jet skiing, parasailing, banana boating etc. We took the option of 3 water sports in a package. For this we were taken by bus to another harbour near Puerto Rico, here you are given the freedom of the bay to go jetskiing, and you are basically propelled miles above the sea parasailing! The watersports are not that expensive, 15mins on the jet ski costs 30 Euros.
The food, what can you say, there is an enormous choice of fresh, well cooked, well prepared food. The staff in the restaurant are very helpful and friendly- one option available is for a romantic meal on tuesday or thursday. This is a 5 course set menu, with waiter service to your table. We really enjoyed this night, I would even recommend it to groups purely to enjoy the standard of the food.
In the main restaurant, open for breakfast and dinner there is a wide choice of meats, fresh salads, pasta, fruit and many desserts. There is also champagne, beer, wine and every soft drink you can imagine on tap in the hall, which is well presented, clean and modern.
The other bars around the pool include, a piano bar which is a pleasant place for pre-dinner drinks, a tapas bar, from which you can get your lunch and the sports bar which has internet connected PCs, wide screen tvs and pool tables. The main bar and entertainment room was a bit of a let down, the room has many pillars so the majority of the seats have obstructed views for the shows in the evenings. The shows were a mixed bag. Some were very good, for example the chinese acrobats, others were laughable! Either way the bar is piled high with every spirit possible so you can make any show seem world beating!
We took public transport once to Maspalomas, this is well worth doing, your rep will give you directions to the dunes here but make sure you follow them though as the beach includes various nudist points.....The most enjoyable aspect of the dunes was the camel ride which for 12 Euros takes you through the dunes for around 20mins.
There is also a large local market on Friday in Mogan. The hotel runs a complementary bus to the town which is around 10mins away. Or you can use local transport for around 3 Euros each.
Overall there is little to complain about, the resort is clean, peaceful and the food is terrific. There is always something to do, and if you want to venture out (don't go to Puerto Rico its a dump) then public transport is cheap and readily available. The age of guests ranged from early 20s (us) to 50+. There are also a mix of Spanish and German holidaymakers at the hotel.
On the last day of your trip you can arrange late check out, and keep your room until you leave for 30 Euros.
We were so sad to be leaving, and that is a great compliment to the holiday we had here.
For a great holiday break I would stongly recommend this hotel!

PS. The hotel kindly brought my girlfriend a gift for her birthday during our stay, another example of their kind attitude towards us.
