“Lovely hotel, so relaxing!”
Reviewed August 2, 2011

We went the last week of July 2011. The hotel is so clean and friendly and a place to go and relax. The food is great and has a wide variety of choice. Would recommend to anyone.

Me and My Boyfriend stayed at the Suite Princess From the 18th July - 25th July.
The coach Transfer only Took about 45 Minutes and we enjoyed Seeing all the views.
We arrived at the hotel where welcome drinks were offered to us in a beautiful Marble Reception. Check in was quick and Friendly and we got in to our room on the 3rd floor straight away.
The room was clean spacious and the Bed was huge and the Air con could Of been better but my boyfriend says it was fine, other reviews moan that it was 2 single beds pushed together and it was but 2 single beds make 1 huge double and if we never looked we would never of known. We had sea and pool views and it was beautiful at night to hear the waves and watching the lights of the boats out at sea.
The food was lovely, Drinks were Lovely, but food does stop at 9.30pm and drinks finish at 12 but if u want to drink longer you can but just get a few more in at 11.55pm. ;-)
Entertainment was Good, Singers were not all that but we sang along and made it fun, the Magic and the Black Brothers were excellent. we went to the musical Tavern where we had a meal, Drinks and watched a fantastic Drag show, The Coach picked us up from the Hotel and took us back.
We went to see the Beautiful sand Dunes and had a ride on a camel in Maspolamas, We got a Taxi there that we booked at Reception and it arrived in 5 minutes.
We went to Morgan Market on the Friday which we really enjoyed.
A lot of our Time was spent relaxing around the pool and in the heated pool, or we could go in to the deeper unheated pool, both were clean and there was enough sunbeds left when we went down to the pool at midday. People did reserve there sunbed if they wanted to be in a certain spot.
The Talk about Upgrade to Black band We did not do as we didn't see the point. We really enjoyed our Romantic evenings in the sunset Lounge where the Thomson Duo sang and played there guitars while we were served Champagne watching the sunset (Beautiful).

Now I am one to Complain about the most stupid things, but I have not got any Complaints about this hotel at all apart from I DISAGREE that men should wear long Trousers to Dinner when woman are aloud to go to dinner in Hot pants. My Boyfriend did not have any long trousers with him and went down to dinner in trousers below the Knee and was turned away, so we went out the following day and bought some but he changed straight back in to shorts after dinner as he got too hot, I understand Rules are Rules but I feel it Defeats the Object when I am sure I saw a lady having dinner in her bikini shorts, plus as that is the case With the long trouser Situation then The Air con could of been better in the restaurant...... There we go I have had my Moan ;-)

The Hotel and Views were stunning and we have 5 Children and coming to this child free hotel was heaven for us, The staff were all hard working and friendly. We met some lovely people off all age groups, We had the time of our lives.

If we can get all our children looked after again for a whole week we will be certainly coming back next year. If it wasn't for the kids we would have booked 2 weeks, I so wasn't ready to come home after just 7 days.

I had the most relaxing time of my life, Thank you to all the Staff and the people we met for Making My Holiday in Gran Canaria so Perfect. xxxx

Have just returned from 2 weeks here and would certainly recommend it. Lovely hotel, great pool area with more than enough sun loungers. Good mix of couples of all ages. Excellent, friendly entertainment team who provided good daytime entertainment (water volleyball, sangria.paella demonstrations, darts etc) but with no obligation to take part. Evening entertainment by Niko the pianist in piona bar was good. Night time entertainment varied but some really good acts there - only saw the same act twice over the 2 weeks. Thomson duo singers were excellent, and champagne reception on sunset terrace was good. 5 course romantic meal can be taken once per week stay and would recommended it. Staff friendly and helpful, always clearing up in dining area, bars and poolside snack bar area. Good range of food over the 2 weeks, always something different daily in the evening dining area. Gents require long trousers for evening dining but jeans are acceptable (dress code wasn't too formal at all). Didn't upgrade and don't think it would be of much benefit to do so. Small shop in hotel provides daily newspapers and confectionary, or there is a supermarket on the beachfront. Hotel runs free bus to Peurto de Mogan 5mins along the coast, worth a visit as its very pretty and has a street market on a Friday (service bus from end of road only Euro 1.30). Puerto Rico and Playa Amadores (lovely beach) also only 10mins by bus from end of road. A brilliant relaxing holiday and would most certainly recommend it!

Room Tip: All suites are sea facing with balconies.

We really enjoyed the hotel! All inclusive with drinks and food pretty much all day was AMAZING. I would personally like to defend Niki the pianist. We thought he was ace and wanted to buy a CD, haha! It was brilliant that he couldn't say the words quite right and we applaud him for a go! He could speak it just fine when we spoke to him and it provided plenty of entertainment for us. Loved it very much!

Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. I didn't really like the fact that people were allowed to smoke outside either, but there wasn't a whole lot of it going on anyway, so it didn't really bother us that much.

We didn't notice it being too warm inside any of the bars. Only the Restaurant was quite warm because of the show cooking going on. Temperature was fine in the piano bar etc, and it was a good 35 degrees while we were there.

The only thing we would say against the bay in which the hotel is placed (Taurito), is that it provides NO food, whatsoever after 9:30! All shops are shut and there are no vending machines anywhere at all. So after you have had a good drink in one of the many hotel bars, there's absolutely nowhere to go to soak it all up, haha. But perhaps that's just us being piggy.

No complaints at all about the hotel and would def recommend it to couples :). You'll enjoy your stay for sure :). Lovely

xxx

Oh yes, we didn't like not having a double bed either, just 2 singles pushed together, but I know this is the case quite alot abroad, but this was a minor gripe really.

It’s hard to know where to start with The Suite Princess. In some ways it’s nice but in others it’s rather disappointing. Very disappointing in fact. We needed a holiday and went on a whim. The age group is very mixed and there are guests from many different parts of Europe. It does get many good reviews and so we do not wish to upset or disillusion anyone who really rated it but basically it’s much too big, rather tacky and absolutely nowhere near the Thomson/First Choice rating of 5 star, especially not if you compare it to multinational corporate 5 star chains like Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton or Mandarin Oriental but then we have not holidayed in The Canaries or Spain for many, many years so maybe our expectations after years of Dubai, Maldives, Mauritius etc were just way too high. For a start check- in took us over 30 minutes.

First the good bits. Officially it’s only a four star but even that’s rather ambitious. The rooms are big and spacious but to call them suites is definitely stretching it a bit. They are just very big rooms. The beds are poor as are the fixtures and fittings but we found the rooms to be well sound proofed. They are serviced everyday and the shower is nice and powerful. A major plus point is that it is fairly quiet around the place after midnight so once you have got used to the beds it’s relatively easy to sleep. The food is perfectly edible, nice even but totally bland and lacking in any real variety but then they do have to try and cater to a multitude of different tastes. The free alcohol is weak and watery but like the food it’s perfectly drinkable however the tables in all the restaurants are far too close together. When it’s busy it’s impossible to enjoy an intimate conversation here. We would hate to stay here when it’s really busy.

Now for the bad points?? Yes it’s for adults only so there are no young children leaping about and making a racket but it’s right next to a massive water park complete with big slides where hundreds of kids do leap about and make a racket all day, every day, accompanied by the perpetual referee whistles from the army of Lifeguards. Afternoon siestas are not possible due to the high volume drum and bass music coming from the sister hotel The Taurito Princess about 200 yards away during their animation teams afternoon activities.

The sunbeds are generally easy to find but they are diabolically uncomfortable and unbelievably close together. It reminded us of those 1970’s pictures of jam packed Benidorm beaches. For some people to call this place tranquil is a contradiction in terms but then again it does rather depend on what you are used to. The gym is a complete joke and we have never stayed in a hotel with an in room safe that you have to pay to use. It is possible to get a room upgrade for 26 Euro a day but many that did said it was not really worth it.

Having read many of the other recent reviews (both before and after we went) it would appear that many other guests did not have a problem with any of our downsides and that’s fair enough. We value their opinions. For many people The Suite Princess is absolutely perfect but I’m afraid for us it was a glorified Butlins and we definitely won’t be going back.

We went at the end of June beginning of July, everything was great!

The only problem we had was the main restaurant was not air conditioned and was quite uncomfortable on an evening.

Very relaxing and if the air con was sorted out would definitely recommend!
