“Good Hotel”
Reviewed February 10, 2010

Just back from a one week stay all inclusive at this hotel. We arrived just after major storm hit the island, so arriving the weather wasn't great and the resort very mucky and flooded in places. Some local pools were closed as they were so contaminated and the day before leaving we when the local beach was just getting cleaned up from the storm debris, which was a pity as the weather picked up and would have been nice to spend a day there with my son. I did try but it was so dirty we left quickly. The hotel is clean, staff friendly and can speak very good english. there is a shop in the hotel which sells all the holiday clothes anyone could need, so if your doing a last min getaway, and have no time to shop...dont worry just buy your clothes here (if you have the money-it can be expensive) but the clothes are nice. The rooms are basic with no facitiies. The fridge you pay for as you do with the safe. There is a tv and if you have kids with you id recommend taking a portable DVD player, for yourself and the kids. Especially as with young kids you have to retire early to bed, so you are left with sky news to entertain you or CNN every night while your kids are asleep. Also at times my wee boy wanted to spend some time watching cartoons which he was unable to. The pools areas are great, my wee boy loved it and there are plenty of sun lounges for everyone. The snacks though at the poolside are often cold and reheated and taste quite poor, we tried it twice and never went back to it just waiting to go the the resturant. The food here is really good, but it does get samey after a week and what doesnt get eaten at lunch gets put out again at dinner. Alot is reused and reheated. Both my husband and I on our last day did become quite unwell with D and V, which lasted a few days however, i am not saying we caught anything from here, just as i am not saying it can be ruled out entirely. It is up to people to make up their own judgement on this. (i suppose i would know if others at the hotel had became unwell also, however we had flown home at the start of the illness- so for that reason i am saying again i dont know). The lifts were awful one had broken down, so it left two for the whole complex, luckily we were only 2 floors up so it wasnt a problem for us as it was for others. The day we were checking out (check out is at 12 noon) a maid kncked the door at 9am asking us when we were leaving because she wanted to clean the room for the next guests....A little unprofessional i thought.
I would recommend the island deights trip to get about and see the island.....nothing bad at all a fantastic day out with great food, guides and views. It is expensive but its worth every penny and you get to see the whole island with terrific views.
To sum up the hotel was okay, i have stayed in better (ie suite princess, just across the road, the marriott and Apex Hotel) so my comment is basically based on my numerous stays in various hotels and comparing them in my head. I really dont want to put anyone off staying here because you will enjoy your time here, but personally i think i would just stay across the road the the suite princess once the rennovations have been completed.

We booked this hotel for 2 weeks via Portland. Great for relaxing. Food was good and varied, great selection of drinks. The beach is directly outside the hotel and we spent quite a bit of time down there in the waves, unfortunately it was costly for the hire of the beds. Location is very remote, nowhere to walk to. We took the bus into puerto mogan several times which is really lovely and has a good selection of restaurants. Would recommend this hotel if all you want is a relaxing holiday, would have no hesitation in returning.

This was the second visit in four months and again we had a very enjoyable stay and would find it hard to find better value for money. The food was varied and plentiful and the staff friendly and efficient. The weather was a pleasant 21degC which was very acceptable after our long spell of freezing conditions in England. The only downside was the unreliable lifts with one of the three constantly out of service.Using the stairs was out of the question when we senior citizens were on the ninth floor!!

The downside was the waiting to book in when we arrived, stood in a queue for one hour, the lifts were also a bit iffy, other than that we had a great chill out holiday, the hotel was spotlessly clean, the food was great, something to suite every taste, the staff were extremley helpful.the weather was fantastic, one pool was heated and was nice and warm. the local bus service was good, so getting around was not a problem. Taurito itself was quiet, a ideal place to relax, there is a small supermarket and several small shops, the beach is black sand with quite heavy surf, not suitable for small children or weak swimmers, however a great lido along side the beach with water slides ect. We found a week was not enough time.

We stayed at the Taurito Princess from 25th Jan to 1st Feb 2010. We got a bargain price with Thomson last minute deal and so were not really expecting much, we were delighted with what we found.
The hotel was a good standard, rooms were large (they supplied us with a very good quality cot for the baby) and had a fridge. The entertainment although a little cheesy at times was great, especially for our 8 month old who loved the mini disco.
The hotel staff were very nice especially with the baby and couldn't have done more to help when getting a good table and organising a high chair in the dining room.
The food was a bit 'samey' but there was always something you could eat (if you are not fussy) contrary to a recent review I have read we always found the food piping hot both on the buffet and on the grill.
We had a lovely time and would definitely go back to this hotel in the future the only comment I would have is that the hotel itself is a little bit isolated for those who can not manage a bus ride to either of the nearest towns, so if like us you like a walk in the evening after dinner there really isn't many places to go,

The hotel is is an excellent location with wonderful views from all bedrooms. However, the lift system needs upgrading - the lifts may look spectacular travelling up the outside of the building but usually at least one of them is broken at some time of day and as they are quite small the wait for one can sometimes be quite long - especially if you are on the higher floors. It would help, of course, if people staying on the lower couple of floors could manage to walk down the stairs instead of blocking the lifts!

On the whole we thought the hotel was very well laid out, with good public areas and bars and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, as with many Spanish hotels they seem to be cutting down on staff - even the drinks were self-service in the dining room - perhaps some people like this idea but we didn't. It is much friendlier to be served at least your drinks by a waiter and is a good way to get to know the staff better - the few staff in the dining room were fully occupied clearing tables.

The main complaint we had was the food. Although during the first few days were thought the choice and quality of food appeared to be o.k. but nothing special, towards the end of our holiday both my husband and myself were quite ill with stomach upsets, which could only have been caused by the hotel food as we did not eat or drink anything outside the hotel. However, for the last 2 days of our holiday we stuck to melon and water and fortunately were o.k. by the time we were due to fly home. I do wonder how long the food on the buffets is kept warm. The food from the carving station ws always hot and freshly cooked but the food on the main buffet was sometimes only just warm.

However, on the whole we enjoyed our stay but would probably not return to this hotel.

Just returned from a week's stay here on an all-inclusive basis. We had a wonderful time and shall return later this year.
Our flight was delayed for 4 hours at Manchester and we arrived tired and hungry. An additional 1hr 30 transfer on a bus didn't help matters.
We finally arrived and the check-in took no time at all and we were soon in our spacious 7th floor room. The views from the balcony were quite simply, stunning - panoramic sea, beach and cliffs all around us.
All week we had excellent weather. The hotel pools (one heated the other not) were really welcome and very clean. In fact the whole of the hotel site was kept remarkably clean. No irritating shortage of sunbeds either and the beach is literally just beyond the hotel car park. The guests, who were all well-behaved, were a nice mix of British, German, Dutch and Scandanavian with the occasional French/Belgian and Italian as well.
The standard of food in the self-serve restaurant was quite good and breakfast, lunch and dinner were all to look forward to. Bars a-plenty and free drinks available up to 12 midnight (perhaps longer but we didn't last that long). Even between meals there were snacks available! Evening entertainment was low key but somehow suited the place.
We did take the local bus to Puerto Rico (unimpressed and only stayed an hour) and also to Playa Mogan (far nicer - spent half a day there) but the best of the holiday was spent in and around the hotel. The staff were friendly and the reception staff particularly so.
Euro prices have almost attained parity with sterling now and my wife and I found no bargains - even the market prices at Mogan were in no way tempting; everything on offer can be found cheaper in the UK. Luckily, as we were all-inclusive there was no need to spend much at all and I brought most of my euros home!
The weather was hot and sunny and the temperature hit 30 C on two days and that's really why we went after all.
