Taurito Princess
Ranked #2 of 7 Hotels in Taurito
Reviewed September 17, 2013

I stayed at the Taurito Princess for 11 days in September. The location is absolutely perfect. Very beautiful and relaxing. The hotel itself is well positioned, with easy access to the beach which is less than a minutes walk. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful, and the hotel is one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Having recently been through a renovation, parts of the hotel are very modern and very well laid out. The rooms are adequate, with large balcony's, and have air conditioning, fridge and a safe available at extra cost.

The hotel pools are very well maintained, and are perfect for that must have dip after an hour on the sun beds, of which there are plenty.

If you are so inclined, the hotel is located just a couple of minutes from the Taurito Water Park, with rides and sun beds.

There are a few slight negatives however:

Firstly, do not go to this hotel if you are after a variety of evening activities. There are a number of shows, one each evening, which range in quality, as well as a piano bar. Other than that, the hotel closes down around midnight to half past. The local area has a small strip of the usual shops and a bar or two, but nothing else.

Second, the food, which while perfectly well prepared and of good quality, is often served just warm.

Finally, the pool bar, whilst functional, closes at six every day, and is not the most comfortable place to sit and relax in the shade.

To summarise, this is great hotel, with excellent staff and cleanliness, in a perfect position, but lacking evening and later entertainment facilities.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay with our 6 month old baby and friends with their 1 year old.
I will start by saying it is extremly frustrating that the guest that wrote in the comment book in the hotel did not put their comments on here as we would not
Have booked to come here!
It is a very clean hotel and the hotel staff are very helpful and friendly along with the locals!
The entertainment was horrendous! The animation team (apart from the manager who was lovely and the girl with curly hair) were full of them selves and had no interest in doing what they were there to do! They were more concerned in flirting with the male guest! There was a song which contained lyrics which were inappropriate and offencive that was played on a continuous basis! The kids club contains a soft play area which was fun although b prepared to have a cold welcome and watch the animation team ignore the kids and whip each other with skipping ropes!
The evening entertainment did not start until 10pm which ment there was nothing until then unless you wanted to watch the animation team stand on stage chatting and doing inipropriate dancing!
The location is very quiet containing a few shops and a supermarket do not be falled there are no bars or places to eat unless you get a taxi!
We took a trip on the dolphin and whale spotting which was ok although the only shade on board was also the smoking area so not ideal for the babies!
The food started if ok but towards the end was unbearable and we eat anything!there
Is only
The one Buffett restaurant to eat in and food
Was often cold, It was very repetitive and resulted in us eating out a number of times in port morgunn!
Terry the rep was ok to us helped us out when we needed him to!
We would not return to the hotel for
Two main reasons the animation team/entertainment and the food!
We met a few people that have been visiting the hotel for
Years on a trot and even they have said how
It has gone down hill and will not be returning!!!

We had a very pleasant 10 day stay at this hotel. The hotel is very well run and all the staff worked extremely hard to ensure we had a good time. Our room was comfortable and immaculately clean if a little dated. The food in the hotel was of good quality although vegetarian options were very limited. Drinks available were the best we have experienced at an all inclusive hotel. The resort of Taurito is quite low key and quiet so not somewhere to go if relaxation is not your aim. The Taurito Princess is in a great position in the resort right next to the beach with a beautiful outlook. If you are looking for a peaceful break in a clean and efficiently run hotel we would recommend it. In our opinion the downsides are that the evening entertainment was patchy in quality, it's location not ideal due to view being obscured by pillars. The animation team was the worst we have experienced (almost like they had employed children to do the job) , most unprofessional. Also the rep, Terry, had an attitude problem and we wouldn't have liked to have relied on him to sort any problems we might have had. Our overall view is that we had a very enjoyable holiday and was very good value.

Spent a week at Taurito princess had a lovely week, hotel lovely, reception and bar/restaurant areas very spacious never felt crowded. Pool lovely loads of sunbeds, again never felt crowded, could maybe do with more parasols as the sun is directly on the pool area. So annoying that people still go down at the crack of dawn to bag a bed, NO NEED FOR IT. The rooms are cleaned daily and towels changed daily, think the bedding was changed at least once as well. Staff very friendly and helpful especially reception, I asked for extra pillow and it was there the same day and a light bulb needed changing and was done the same day. Don't waste money on a fridge (12 euros plus 6 euros deposit) there's no need drinks are plentiful as it's all inclusive and it took 3 days for it to even seem cold enough to chill anything. 19 euros a week for wi fi, ok but could only use one device at a time, did cut out a lot as well. Internet is available near reception for 1 euro for 10 mins.
Food good you would have to be really fussy (or veggie) not to find anything to your taste BUT I did miss 'proper sausages' at breakfast can't stand the ones they serve.
Drinks at the bars were very generous and as one other reviewer commented Spanish waiters have no concept of measurements especially vodka.
Entertainment fair the animation team try really hard to get people involved and are really friendly, the morning rendition of 'good morning' and 'Happy Days' from the pool bar heralded the start of the day's activities. The piano bar in the evening was relaxing with the pianist most nights and saxophonist on the Friday plus the elderly man who most evening took his wife for a dance round the floor.
All in all had a lovely week it is a lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff.

I'll start off by saying that I had a good holiday BUT it was not the best holiday and it certainly wasn't a platinum holiday. If you have booked here then dont freak out by negative reviews as everyone has different views. Personally I feel robbed of my money. I have paid way too much and not recieved what we should have and that is comparing it to other platinums I have been on.

The hotel- is lovely, you can tell they have made most of it modern. Its very clean and the staff are trying their best. There isnt enough staff and most are very grumpy!
our room was dated- it really needs refreshing- the bathroom is stunning tho- modern!!
the sockets were dangerous! a million plugs in 1 socket. we found 1 plug availble to use when we moved the table! for a platinum hotel- there should have been tea/coffee, water in the fridge etc but it wasnt up to the standards. we did ask for 2 more pillows and the reception guy was brilliant and we got it by end of the day. we also paid for internet as it wasnt free (which again should have been) £19 euros for the whole week which was pretty good i suppose.

the lifts- yes there are 3 lifts but they don't like to be used! it takes time so prepare yourself and dont get upset by waiting for 5 mins at busy times!

the poolside- was lovely but way too many beds pushed together so your laying on your next door partner! they are pushed right to the pool which is uncomfortable!! but the pools are lovely! alway seem to get a bed no matter what time of the day which was good.

the beach- perfect location! loved the beach- watersports at one side which was fun to watch. there can be rocks in the water so take care but other than that was a brilliant beach.

food-shocking! im not a fussy eater at all but i struggled with food. breakfast was awful. they like to pack up an hour before breakfast is finish- tea as well!
lunch was the same every day. i would have liked to try spanish food but they dont seem to be adventuous. tea was the same.

drinks- help your self to the machine which is totally fine but i disagree at tea time. Platinum is all about the little extras- we found no extras. at tea time- we should have had waiter service that showed us to our seats and opened a bottle of wine etc. instead of find where to sit and get your own drink. the wine- erm dont drink it?!? awful!!

the entertainment- the daytime gang are pretty much full of themselves, girls flicking their hair and trying to get people involved. the night time- well the room is lovely, modern with nasty, stained small chairs- the place is badly designed with poles everywhere and entertainment that was so bad it was funny! shame.

pianobar- we spent much of our time here which was pleasant but LOVED the saxaphone guy who played on friday. shame he only played once a week as he was brilliant! be warned- dont ask for the cocktails from the machine, thats all i'll say!.

the rep- hmmm what can i say about Terry- he's awful! he was meant to be at the hotel every morning and he never was. dont get me wrong we never needed him until the last day. we needed to know what time we were being picked up, the info finally went up on the board minus ours and he had disappeared. everyone was looking for him for hours. another rep came to pick him up and had to sort out this problem as other info for people wasnt displayed either

coach back- do get a taxi if you can afford. we got picked up at 6:25pm and after picking up what felt like every persson on the island which was way out of our way we finally arrived at the airport after 8pm! we flew just after 9pm!! not impressed at all- not a nice way to end your holiday worried if we will get there ontime!

as i said i know it seems negative but this is because it is rated as a platinum hotel which its most definatly isnt. it is was not rated as this then i would have been fine about most of this!

As a group of four 20-30 year olds. We were just looking for a break away in the sun which we received. The pool is lovely the alcohol flows from 10.30am and the hotel is lovely and clean. The entertainment is well to be desired. It was good because it was bad if that makes sense. Most of our evenings were spent playing cards in the piano bar after watching the sunset go down.

Taurito itself is a very secluded and quiet complex, there is a water park with a few slides to go to at £14euros or if you wanted to play mini golf on a battered worn out course at 4euros each, but if you are wanting a walk you would be best to hop in a taxi to another part of gran caneria. There is no nightlife or any restaurants to go to if you wanted a break from the hotel.

Port Morgan is a must especially on a Friday when it's market day! The scenery is lovely. And you can pick up some bargains but like most markets some can be a bit pushy. It only costs 7 euros in a taxi to get there too.

The Thomson rep Terry isn't what we expected he was very argumentive especially when we weren't aware that LONG TROUSERS for men are needed to be worn in the evening in the downstairs restaurant. Terry the rep wasn't very understanding and practically blamed us for not bringing the right clothing as apparently it is stated on their website in the terms and condition which I am still unable to find. We totally understand some hotels have clothing rules and we respect that and the boys in our party went a purchased a pair of track suit bottoms as there simply wasn't anything else appropriate to buy. But it was the manner of Terry in how he spoke to us ruined our first day there. After that he was hard to find or it seemed like he tried to avoid us.

If the hotel needed a tip it would be to use the upstairs restaurant more it is very modern and had a better feel when dining. Food was pretty much the same most nights if you liked veal, fish and chicken you were ok.

Over all we had a lovely break away but we wouldn't come back to taurito again, and certainly would think twice when booking our next holiday with Thomson.

Just came back from a weeks stay at the the Taurito Princess with my boyfriend. Overall I was disappointed, we went to Ibiza on a last minute holiday earlier in the year to a 3 star resort and saw this "premier hotel" as our "main holiday" and to I'd rather go back to the 3 star in Ibiza.
Breakfast isn't worth getting up for there are no cooked sausages and the beans were always cold.
Lunch was much better and served in the more modern resteraunt where all the meals should be served.
Evening meals were so so and men are expected to wear long trousers which is perfectly fine if we had been made aware of this before we arrived! Be prepared to be thrown out of the resteraunt and eat in the dark if you don't follow the dress code!
We complained to our rep (once we found him) that the dress code isn't made clear when booking online and he simply told us it is in the terms and conditions ( still havnt found this) however if you are without trousers Thompson will happily pay for you to go to the local shops and find a pair! (Unbelievable!)
Entertainment is cringe worthy apart from one dance show we watched, we ended up playing cards and in the piano room most nights.
Also if you are in need of paracetamol you won't find it over the road at the pharmacy you will need to take a 7 euro taxi ride to mogan to find some.
On a more positive note my boyfriend left his expensive sunglasses in a taxi and the hotel reception rang around and the glasses were returned in 15mins.

Overall we had a nice time and the hotel has lovely views and is a relaxing getaway.
Will we be back? NO
The paradise hotel next door looks so much better.
