My best friend took me yesterday (September 14) for dinner. Both of us are gourmet who love good food, Michelin star restaurants... The experience at Martin Berasategui last night was a perfect flawless ballet. We took the tasting menu (275 Euros for a 15-course menu - a real pleasure). It is worth every single Euro... The menu itself, the presentation, is a true poesie. I enjoyed very much the fact that next to each of his signature dish he indicated the year. My favorite dish was the Caramelized millefeuilles of smoked eel, foie gras, spring onion and green apple (1995) a symphony for the palate. It was just divine. We did not need to add any salt or pepper and this is how you recognize that the Chef is a Maestro. The restaurant is in the middle of an "ordinary village". You will never imagine the existence of such a gastronomic treasure. The staff was great and very attentive. There are 3 dining rooms (2 for the restaurant and another one which is private). We had dinner in the 2nd dining room, with a beautiful vegetal wall. The cuisine is full of flavors and nuances and each dish is presented as a piece of art. The Chef, Martin Berasategui came at the end of the dinner to greet all the guest. He is so humble. A very nice person who is passionate about his cuisine. Bravo Maestro Berasategui, you are a happiness maker.
