My best friend took me yesterday (September 14) for dinner. Both of us are gourmet who love good food, Michelin star restaurants... The experience at Martin Berasategui last night was a perfect flawless ballet. We took the tasting menu (275 Euros for a 15-course menu - a real pleasure). It is worth every single Euro... The menu itself, the presentation, is a true poesie. I enjoyed very much the fact that next to each of his signature dish he indicated the year. My favorite dish was the Caramelized millefeuilles of smoked eel, foie gras, spring onion and green apple (1995) a symphony for the palate. It was just divine. We did not need to add any salt or pepper and this is how you recognize that the Chef is a Maestro. The restaurant is in the middle of an "ordinary village". You will never imagine the existence of such a gastronomic treasure. The staff was great and very attentive. There are 3 dining rooms (2 for the restaurant and another one which is private). We had dinner in the 2nd dining room, with a beautiful vegetal wall. The cuisine is full of flavors and nuances and each dish is presented as a piece of art. The Chef, Martin Berasategui came at the end of the dinner to greet all the guest. He is so humble. A very nice person who is passionate about his cuisine. Bravo Maestro Berasategui, you are a happiness maker.

It’s hard to pick stars when your expectations are sky high. With no, uncertainty in my mind, this was the most beautifully plated food I’ve ever experienced. Frankly, I’m not sure how you could make a more creative and tasty meal. Of course the service was exquisite. However...my wife (who does not eat seafood) found her plates good but not quite as satisfying. So I will qualify my recommendation as - go as long as you can eat all forms of seafood!

This lunch was a special treat. The food is beyond compare, interesting, tasty , healthy with fresh food and light dishes. I had the tasting menu. My wife had the signature salad with lobster and the lamb chops. The service is impeccable. Kind, knowledgeable , appropriately attentive. Huge wine list. Sommelier was perfect with his selections when we described what we liked in a white and then red. The facility is also special. In a modernized large home and gardens just outside San Sebastián All three stars totally appropriate. it is higher priced so be ready to forget the expense and truly enjoy. It is worth every penny. Plan 3 hours at least
We want to return with family
