We visited for my birthday for lunch.
To get to the restaurant, we took an Uber from San Sebastián which took approximately 20 minutes to get to the restaurant. We arrived just on time at 1300 and were welcomed by the reception.
The menu options included a tasting menu as well as a la carte. Most people tried the tasting menu as did we, and we were not disappointed.
The menu included about 16 or so dishes, the majority of which were either seafood or fish. The final main course was a beef dish.
The menu was extremely well executed, and the service was close to flawless. For one dish, where I asked not to have oysters, they forgot to change my dish but very quickly served my replacement dish. Our favourite dishes were two of their older dishes which they have kept on the menu; one has fois gras in it, and the other was a gorgeous salad dish.
At the end of the meal, we had a chance to tour the kitchen and realised how they could have such flawless food and service; there were 60 chefs in the kitchen (excluding the wait staff)!
I was given a gift (an autographed chef apron) for my birthday which was lovely and we got to meet Martin himself!
The meal was less experimental than other top end San Sebastián restaurants but clearly popular with both local families and couples, as well as tourists. It was a larger restaurant with about 40 pax eating that day. Definitely a memorable restaurant well deserving of its three stars!
