Modern Australian food in a hip location and deco to match. Pretty cool in fact. Did the family of four thing again. We really enjoyed the share plates. Tasty food and not a morsel was left behind. Loved it all. The dessert taster plate at the end was wonderful. Friendly and knowledgeable staff made for a very enjoyable night out with my special people.

So many brunch places in Melbourne now and it's getting difficult to stand out. This place is one of the few that do. Love Truffle egg and the Soft shell crab burger. Will be back for MOAR!!

I don't need to say much after the already glowing reviews, this is by far one of the best brunch cafes I've been to. Go there, you'll love it!

the newly opened hammer & tong was not easy to find as my man wrote down the address as 412 brunswick st, fitzroy. he did not see, 'rear of'. so we went round and round a number of times, inadvertently turned into the side street and presto found the place!

nicely fitted out - i believe the chef, who's the owner did it himself with all the industrial goods he had scavanged or found, enough to fit a 4 car garage at home. so his wife must be happy to finally have some room.

we are very happy to have found it. coffee from duke was extra creamy, intense but not bitter and piece de resistance was the SOFT SHELL CRAB BURGER. people beware - eat it and be hooked for life! the shiny sesame seed topped bun arrives with the deep fried crab claws jutting out from the sides and when you bite it, the intense crab flavour is complimented by cole slaw, squishy with mayonnaise. oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh, to die for!

the croissants are heaven to! enter this place with caution!
