“Outdated, dirty and rude!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2009

I've stayed at other Quest properties before, and they've all been lovely (some absolutely incredible), so I thought staying here was a pretty safe bet, plus the location is fantastic! But the room was a dump! We requested either a room with a balcony or a smoking room (as I was pretty stressed due to a recent bereavement and the quit program is off for the moment), but what we got was a balcony-less room on the top floor (no elevator) that smelt like horrible old stale smoke, but that we weren't allowed to smoke in - we had to go all the way downstairs and smoke in the courtyard. I offered to pay extra if we had to upgrade to get a balcony but they said they were booked out. And as for the rest of the room - staff were rude, the oven didn't work, there were thick dusty cobwebs hanging down from the kitchen cupboards, most of the furniture was stained or damaged, and the bathroom clearly hadn't been renovated since the place was built (60s? 70s? whenever beige basins and toilet bowls paired with salmon pink vanity tops were popular...) and everything was chipped and stained plus the toilet didn't flush properly, and the cheap old TV only worked sometimes - and they still charged us the full rate! We booked weeks in advance and arrived exactly at the time we specified so we weren't unexpected guests and perhaps they just gave us a room they don't normally use and the rest are ok, but I definitely won't be staying here again and running the risk of getting one of their dud rooms!

The rooms were very clean and spacious. It was very close to CBD. When I got there and found out that the one bed room apartment we booked would require clmbing several flights of stairs which was a problem for me, they put us in a 2 bed room apartment which required less climbing of stairs with no extra charge.

The staff was extremely helpful.

Nicely decorated, spacious rooms .. great location, just outside of the cbd. i chose this hotel because of its location, having 2 small children we were just across from the royal gardens.
the rooms are nicely decorated, spacious, clean and modern. my only problem was the first night there was alot of noise outside our window after midnight.

I previously wrote a review for this property in June 2008, and stayed again in November 2008. The second time my experience was much better than the first, as my apartment was nice and quiet, and I got a great night's rest.

The bed was very comfortable, and the apartment was very spacious. I had doors that opened out on to a pretty patio, and a large dining area. It was more than plenty for a one night stay!

The apartment had all required amenities including a full kitchen, dining table, couches and TV, and laundry.

The only disappointment was that the property is no longer a Corporate Member with the Melbourne Baths, so my morning workout was very expensive!

We were a party of 6 family members in Melbourne for a wedding and booked the only 4 bed apartment in this complex. (the only 4 bed apartment I could find in Melbpourne). Huge apartment , recently renovated with air con, and excellent level of eqipment. The staff at reception are good, and nothing was too much trouble. The apartments are used by tourists, business people by the week, and are good value. The outside of these apartments looks a little tired and the stairs are very spartan, but the location is fabulous - walk to the city, or get a tram 2 minutes away. Fitzroy and its eclectic shops, bars and restaurants is an easy walk, and Lygon St a 5 minute taxi ride. If you are on a budget you can cook in the well equipped kitchen. Overall no problems, recommended.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2006

We booked our room through a Getaway promotion and the value for money was excellent. We were upgraded at no extra charge to a 3 bedroom unit on the ground floor which was HUGE with everything we could possibly need - dishwasher, washer, dryer, full kitchen, 2 bathrooms and even 3 toilets! Our room had recently been totally refurbished, with new furniture, carpets and fittings and was very tastefully decorated, and very clean. The only things that could be improved were: the top few stairs to the bedrooms squeaked very loudly and the cleaners had not cleaned the courtyard area, leaving the outside furniture very grubby and the ground and garden littered with cigarette butts. In the pool area, the pool and spa were freezing cold and the spa would fit 2 persons max. Other than that, the apartments are a fantastic spot to stay, lovely and quiet but extremely convenient to the city and only a 2 minute walk to the closest tram stop. Would defnitely recommend them despite the couple of very minor problems that we encountered.

Oh my gosh!! We did not get a balcony. The toilet needed to be flushed at least 2 times otherwise toilet paper would resurface. The fridge didn't close properly most of our food went off in the fridge. The fridge wasn't cold enough. The shelf on the fridge door broke so our drinks fell out when we opened the fridge door. The housekeepers put laundry detergent in the dishwasher detergent container (the laundry and dishwasher detergent looked and smelled the same). So there was foam and water floating out of the dishwasher and flooded the kitchen floor!!!! Also they were stingy with toilet paper. Only one roll was given each time. And one time they didn't come to clean on a public holiday and we ran out of toilet paper! It was a horrible place to stay! PS they didn't have "Do not disturb" sign so we had to open the door whenever they came to clean the room, and the first day they came at 9.30am. Too early!
