We have regularly stayed at the Metropole since finding it in late 2012, when we were in the middle of a family emergency. We can't say enough about the helpful and courteous staff, who made our three month stay so much easier. The location of the Metropole is ideal as you can easily walk into the city, or to the major hospitals in the area. Trams pass the door and the tram stops are extremely closeby. Brunswick Street offers great shopping opportunities as do nearby Gertrude and Smith Streets. We now return every four months and are always happy to be back and love our spacious apartment. Our grandson, aged 4, loves the pool and the courtyard environment which gives him space to play outside. He also enjoys the parks in Carlton and Fitzroy Gardens, both easily accessible from the Metropole.

Great location for exploring Fitzroy & Collingwood & all the great eateries and shops on offer. It is also not too far from the city & tram stops are close by.

Room was spacious, we had a junior suite & it had a mini kitchen & living area. Decor is dated but place is clean and comfortable. Place would really benefit from an update.

Courtyard in the centre is nice and the pool looked inviting though we did not use it.

All the Staff were very friendly and helpful.

I stayed at the Metropole on business recently and really enjoyed the stay. My room was upgraded to a suite and I found all facilities to be first class.
The hotel is very convienient to Melbourne CBD, the rooms are modern, clean and tidy and the staff really friendly and helpful - what more could you ask for.
Well done Metropole - I will definately return when next in Melbourne.

So pleased I took hospital staff advise and stayed here. Reception staff very helpful and room everything I needed. Rooms very clean, short walking distance to hospital and short tram ride to centre of Melbourne.

On the positive side, the location is very central and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is quite tired, dated and generally in a poor state. Structurally, some parts of the hotel look worryingly unsound with obvious cracks to the plasterwork. Our room was dark and could have been cleaner. Overall, not to be recommended - you can find better.
