It is really sad - when this place first opened it was great - generous servings, delicious and fresh. Since then it has steadily gone downhill. The fish is often sloppy and the salad is a tastless and wet. The place is VERY VERY overpriced. Honestly, don't bother unless you are desperate for fish and chips.

The food here is really fresh and the portions are quite large. My partner and I often share a mixed plate for one and it is plenty for the two of us. You can get your fish fried or grilled and the mixed plate comes with calamari, fish and salad or chips. You can upgrade and get salad and chip for a little extra. They also do fish tacos and fish burgers and you can sit outside or in the window and watch all the funky Fitzroy folk go by

Big portions, light and crispy batter, great chips. They also have a healthy grilled option for those that want. What more could you ask for.

This was our second visit in March and was just as good as our first visit a year earlier. It is definately worth the effort of a trip to Brunswick St (the surrounding area is interesting too).
Staff are really friendly and the food is hot with good portions and is very good value. Fish is fresh, batter is as crisp and light as we have had anywhere and chips are fresh and crunchy. They are really on the ball and if needed they can cook the meal to be just as good but totally gluten free (batter and separate cooking oil etc).
There is a small garden area at the back of the shop with potentially tables in the shade if it is sunny.
Worth a visit!

The fish and chips are outstanding. The fish tastes heavenly and despite being deep fried is not very greasy. Generous portions. The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere casual. The restaurant is located in a neighborhood with lots of little boutiques and places to poke around - which is a bonus after a great meal. Make this a must do.
