“A little bit of France in Fitzroy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

Good wine list, friendly staff, the food's a bit on the expensive side - but you are spoiled for choice in Brunswick street - so share a bottle of wine with friends at Madame Sousou's,and some spiced almonds and olives before dinner somewhere else along this fabulous street!

“Honeymoon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012 via mobile

Nice environment, with a lot of character. We had the consomme (special of the day) and it was delicious. Main was also very good: i had the steak and my wife the red snapper. Make sure you don't miss the excellent tarte tartin (worthy to wait the required 20 minutes). Good choice of wine by the glass.

“Beautiful decor”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

It's lovely just to sit in this restaurant. The food is more for a formal meal (not a light lunch) and on the pricier side but very tasty. I had a very ordinary coffee, but when I asked for another, the next one was a vast improvement. The creme brulee was to die for

“A little bit of Paris in Brunswick street!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2012

If visiting Melbourne, make a trip to Madame sou sou . The decor is reminiscent of a chic little French brasserie . The menu is simply delicious french fare, reliably good. Lovely wine list. This is an unpretentious spot. The sound of tram in the background and the colourful lights of Brunswick outside inviting you to have a stroll after dinner , mean a great melbourne experience. So you can easily make room for the delicious hot chocolate dessert - a truly scrumptious end to the dining experience.

“Good French food but forget an intimate dinner”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2012

Came her for my birthday as I love French food. Our mains were good..had fish and steak. Wanted duck but not available as a main (!!!) . We shared creme brûlée- not ur traditional one but had dates in it...not a good combination. Overall an average restaurant. The most disappointing thing about this restaurant is the close seating to your neighbouring diner. So don't expect an intimate dinner here...because you hear your neighbours conversation and can virtually touch their plate!!! Oh and don't forget Fitzroy has metered parking..another off putting thing about the area. Compared to Lygon street..where parking is seemingly easier. But will still continue in our search for the holy grail of French restaurants...have been recommended The French Brasserie...will see...
