“Claire's Friends Had A Blast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

What a fabulous way to celebrate our friendship of Claire - a groups of her friends enjoying laughter and time away in a beautiful place that meant so much to her! Gordon and Sue have created something special here - beyond the physical elements of this Finca there is the unique atmosphere - generated by the hosts and their attitude! The food was fab, the pool area stunning, the views awesome and the tree house something else! We will return!
G&F xx

I spent a week in this lovely hotel back in October - sorry late with review but thought I had to reiterate the brilliant reviews already posted. I was in a painting holiday with a group of friends and had the most amazing time. The location is perfect for a relaxing break and we had no TV ( don't even know if there are any but we didn't miss it). The food was beautifully cooked by Christina and we sat outside in the terrace overlooking the fantastic view, having great conversation and drinking wine from the honesty bar. Our room was simple and rustic but clean and comfortable. The gardens are a haven where there are loads of places to sit either in the sun or in the shade and there's a pool which is unheated and because it was October I didn't venture in. However, those who did loved it! The staff are great and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. Thanks to them all and I am returning there with my husband because I wanted him to share my perfect experience.

We stayed at Hotel Finca as a couple recently, and managed to get a last minute booking thanks to a cancellation. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing and small hotel with a pool, and Hotel Finca looked like the perfect retreat. The excellent hospitality began before we had even arrived, with the owners offering to book our taxis from the airport and arranged for a selection of sandwiches to be available on arrival as we were arriving late.

Our room was spotless and very comfortable. We stayed in one of the garden rooms, and so had a private terrace with sun loungers and a table and chairs, and a spectacular view over the valley. Although the room was quite simple in style, we didn't feel like it needed anything else - everything worked as it should have done and we greatly enjoyed waking up every morning to the beautiful view.

Breakfast was very nice with a selection of cereals, breads and jams, and an inviting platter of fresh fruit that changed every day. Another highlight was the delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. Having eaten so much at breakfast, we didn't really feel like having lunch most days, but a buffet lunch is offered for those who want it. We tried it one day and it was very good with a wide range of cold meats and salads. Dinner is not offered every night in the hotel, but when available, it is well worth taking advantage of. We had dinner twice in the hotel, and on both occasions we were very impressed. The chef is happy to take into account any food allergies or preferences that you may have, so don't worry about there not being a menu to choose from as such. We really want to emphasise that the food far exceeded our expectations and was nicer than the meals that we ate out.

On the evenings that the hotel did not serve dinner, we were asked what our plans were and whether they would like us to make any reservations or taxi bookings for us. They recommended a selection of restaurants, of which there is more choice in the town of Competa (a 10€ taxi ride away) compared to the nearest village. We particularly enjoyed our meal at La Taverna de Oscar, so would recommend going there.

The majority of our time was spent by the swimming pool - there are plenty of comfortable sunbeds and shaded areas, and the views are once again fantastic. It was sometimes hard to concentrate on reading a book as the views were so distracting, and occasionally birds of prey could be spotted hovering close by. The hotel also has a few charming seating areas tucked into the well-kept gardens, with comfy sofas providing yet another opportunity for relaxation, if you don't fancy the pool area.

We also made several visits to the honesty bar. Having read other reviews on TripAdvisor we were imagining a fridge with a few beers and wines in. However, in reality, the bar is extensively stocked with a huge range of spirits, liqueurs, wines, beers, soft drinks/mixers and a couple of bar snacks and ice creams. There is even a proper cocktail shaker set and recipe book available. It would have been nice to have had a wider selection of bar snacks, for example crisps or maybe more types of ice cream. However these are really just little suggestions for improvement.

We ventured out of the hotel very rarely - considering that many of the guests are at the hotel on walking holidays. If you're not up for long hikes, there is a short walk we would recommend that leads to a quaint, secluded tree house which overlooks Canillas, and is lit up at night. It's fantastic for a couple of romantic drinks as you can take a bottle of wine and a couple of glasses from the honesty bar.

In case it wasn't obvious, we had an absolutely fantastic time and can't wait to return. We were made to feel very welcome before we even arrived and throughout our whole stay by the helpful owners, staff and other guests. We'll be recommending it to all our friends, and would certainly encourage any couple (young or old) who are looking for a relaxing holiday in the sun to go to the Hotel Finca!

Room Tip: We stayed in garden room 2 which was great - quiet, close to the pool, a little away from the main h...

We found this hotel on 'trip advisor' and our expectations were very high after all we'd read. We were certainly not disappointed, just surprised it could really be as good as we'd hoped....actually better! Gorgeous hotel, beautiful rooms, stunning views, exquisite food, exhilarating walks, and staff who could not have done more to make our stay simply blissful. Thank you, thank you.
We'll definitely be back!

Our first visit to this amazing Hotel. It exceeded our expectations in every respect. Friendly staff, who greeted us on arrival, spacious and spotlessly clean rooms in an environment few places can match. The place and views are stunning and everything is catered for. In additions the food was superb. Cant wait to return again soon.

We were on a multi-level walking week - it was quite a large group and so there were quite a few different abilities - David & Sue made sure that we all got to do the sort of walking we wanted to do. The place itself is beautiful with attention to detail everywhere you look. The food was absolutely scrumptious & I have come home with a couple of recipes to try! Eating out a couple of nights at village restaurants was fun & added variety & everything organised for us - we didn't have to think about a thing. Some walks included having tapas lunches in bars & this too was laid on, all we had to do was find a seat & sit down to eat. David & Sue were gracious hosts who looked after everyone. If you don't like walking, it would be easy to spend a week here just relaxing or you would need to either get David & Sue to organise taxis for you or else hire your own car. If I got the chance I would love to return!

We decided to stay at this hotel after the recommendation of a friend and it certainly exceeded our expectations. We were very warmly greeted by the hosts and were impressed by the wonderful location of the hotel. The rooms were spacious, very comfortable and exceptionally clean. We were travelling as a group of four and the remainder of the guests were return visitors and very keen walkers. However we were warmly invited to join their walks and thoroughly enjoyed the the different levels of walking, easy to challenging. It was a wonderful way to explore the area, the stunning views and the gorgeous villages. On the evenings when dinner was available the food was great as was the selection of local wines. The breakfast provided each morning was delicious with a great selection of fresh foods. There was also a very comfortable common lounge area and outdoor area with gorgeous views where drinks were available. We loved staying at the Finca and would highly recommend this wonderful hotel.
