Let me qualify this review with the fact that I've maybe been to a total of 2 Michelin starred restaurants in my life (both in paris), and I've never liked this kind of dining experience anyway.
However id have assumed that you could expect nothing short of great tasting food using stellar produce at any Michelin starred restaurant..
But apparently, not this one!
We stayed at the hotel (beautiful surrounds, basic, clean rooms) and felt obliged to at least try the restaurant the first night.
I ordered the Salmon trio for appetizer, rabbit for entree, and pork for main.
Although edible, all 3 were exceptionally bland and under seasoned.
In fact the rabbit and the pork didn't have a scratch of salt or pepper (that I could taste, and I don't like alot of seasoning anyway!)
The salmon trio was very simple: grilled, smoked and tartare.
The tartare was seasoned in alot of soy sauce, and the other 2 portions of the trio very "basic" in it's flavor and presentation. Nothing new here.
The rabbit was plain, and very bland, accompaied by 3 grilled peppers (delicious..but why wouldn't they be..)
The the pork was also plain, and I can't remember what it was served alongside but it also was bland, and evidently forgettable.
The service, although a bit stuffy was excellent. No complaints there.
The atmosphere is nice if you sit near the garden (can be cold at night, dress appropriately) but otherwise the space was overlit, and lacked music/ambiance.
This makes things awkward overall and myself and my fellow diners were pretty keen to skip dessert and leave.
I've travelled a lot, eaten at a lot of places, however im not in any way a food snob. I just enjoy fresh, quality food that's tasty. Regardless of the price, or award winning michelin status!
