Hotel Villa Malpensa
Ranked #1 of 1 Hotels in Vizzola Ticino
Reviewed March 30, 2013

We chose this hotel for our last night due to its location by the airport. Some of the staff was friendly, but notation check-in. Had a light meal which wasn't good. Struck us as a hotel cutting back on expenses. Wouldn't recommend.

We usually spend a night near Malpensa.
This time one of our associates thought of looking up something different and booked Villa.
The Shuttle was well ontime at the airport & the moment we landed there we were so surprised as we were outside an old Italian Mansion / Villa !!! Stepping inside was another surprise as it was full of paintings ( even though some were not real paintings) but so very well placed.
There was a wedding Hall which too was exciting. The Dinning Room was again so very elegant with old world charm!!!
They also had Conference Rooms.
This place is really exciting with very helpful staff. Even though had limited staff but they were all always ready to help.
This place also has a HISTORY !!!!
All in All a Very Great Surprise.
Would come back here !!!

Room Tip: We were happy staying in the Ground Floor

This is not a cookie cutter modern hotel and is not meant to be. It is an old palace converted into a hotel in keeping with the old Italian villa decorating and is a wonderful experience for those who appreciate art and antiques. The bartender, major domo/ shuttle driver has been there 21 years and is a great drink maker in a wonderfully decorated turn of the century bar. The dinner in the old world dining room was exceptional and the waitress spoke English and was very helpful--. I’ve stayed here twice and am looking forward to returning. If you go in August, the dining room may be closed for 2 weeks because the Italians all take their vacations in August. The setting is wonderful and quiet ; the hotel is very clean and the rooms are old world and lovely..The shuttle is 5 minutes to the airport. If you want a modern, up to the minute, hotel; do not stay here.

Stay clear of this hotel!! We arrived from Milan and it is literally in the middle of nowhere. We arrived at lunchtime but there was a wedding on and the bar was closed for food. No room service was available so we had no food until that night. We ate the snacks in our mini bar but a packet of crisps and nuts between two doesn't go very far.

When we did get to eat finally the restaurant was just a room with its doors open to the front door with people coming and going. The staff were disorganised and having squabbles about everything in front of everyone. A real life Manuel from Faulty towers was incharge!! People had booked tables and come down to find no tables available (there were only about 10) and the staff were pointing at us and the other tables of two staying we weren't finished which made us feel uncomfortable. We had booked a table too. The food was ok, but anyone with a jar of sauce could make a better spaghetti. The dessert was nice but there were lots of hungry people waiting for our table by this time (who probably hadn't had lunch either).

The room was large and clean, as was the bathroom. So if you arrived late and just wanted to sleep and get up then this is the place for you. The breakfast was ok but not the best I've had in Italy. Not sure who gave this hotel 4*?

This building is decorated in what I can only describe as mock Grecian. It's terribly tacky and there's a modern day painting of a fake boobed woman in a see through dress next to the room where you have breakfast.

There is an outside pool but the weather was awful and we didn't use it. But there is airport parking over the road so can't imagine it'd be great.

With hindsight I'd have stayed in Milan and driven to the airport just before my flight and enjoyed the city. Or failed that paid a bit more and stayed at the Sheridan.

Note: this is a €100 taxi trip from Milan. Get the shuttle to the airport and get the hotel to collect you from there (€10 per place from Milan). It is 60 km from Milan, do not expect to be visiting the city!! It is like being at Stanstead and expecting to pop into central London.

If you want a generic new Hilton, this is NOT the place for you..If you want an Old Italian Villa atmosphere, then you will love this place. It is palatial, charming, quiet, very clean and set in a park with just a few dedicated employees who really try to make your stay memorable. You will be 5 minutes from Milan Airport but feel like you are in a private palace in a park. You will have spotlessly clean linens and rooms BUT will NOT have the slick and new kick of an American Hotel. The dining room is old world wonderful and the prices are equivalent to the high quality of the food served. Breakfast offered home made pastries, yogurts, cold cuts, eggs, Italian bacon, & fruits. This is my second stay in this very typical old Italian Villa Hotel and it offers a great way to end your Italian experience when flying out of Milano. If you want an American Hotel-don't stay here!

Ants everywhere, building and grounds needed remodeling 20 years ago, poor food (yet expensive). The absolute WORST place we stayed during our three week trip to Italy in June 2012! Our 11 year old daughter is still talking about "that yucky place we stayed by the airport"! We would have been better off at one of the large airport chain hotels -- and I hate places like that!

Room Tip: I don't think they have any good rooms!

Just in time shuttle service, big rooms, excellent wine list and dinner. Close to the airport, just 5 min with shuttle. Silent surrounding and great poolarea. Breakfast could have been more extensive in variation, but was ok.
