We stayted at the Káli Art Inn whilst were biking in Káli Basin. This was a beautiful hotel with charming decor and art works on display. The garden and tre rooms were fabulous and the service was excellent. Meals were very good and very much in character with the hotel. I cannot remember a more delicious food and better winelist anywhere. Lots of nice areas both inside and outside to relax. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and attentive.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The Kál Basin is one of the gems of the Balaton Uplands National Park. This region is serene in winter, radiant in spring, vibrant in summer and enchanting in autumn.Köveskál is situated in a wine-growing region, where many wine traders took up residence in the 17th and 18th centuries and built spacious houses there. The wine was transported as far as Vienna using large wagons, and it is said by the locals that their wine was more famous and more sought after than even the wine of Badacsony. The two main buildings and some of the annexes of the Káli Art Inn were built during that period. The main building changed hands several times, and for a short period even served as a casino for military officers. It was maintained in its original state, and today houses an office and two suites. The Inn and its restaurant have received numerous Hungarian and international accolades. We are especially proud that the Káli Art Inn was voted one of the 100 best hotels in Europe by The Sunday Times in 2010. ... more less
