“Fantastic trip”
Reviewed October 2, 2013 via mobile

I rarely write a second review on somewhere however I was very impressed on 2nd trip here.
My boyfriend and myself had an overnight stay at the start of the week and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were checked in swiftly and the girl was very pleasant and got us booked in for a meal in the restaurant at our requested time.
We were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a nice but corner room overlooking the garden which was more than adequate in comfort and size.
We had an evening meal in the Ivy restaurant and it was beautiful!!! The food was delicious and the staff were pleasant and attentive which really made up for our previous stay and changed our opinion of the restaurant. Again in the restaurant at breakfast the staff were pleasant and provided good service despite being busy.
We booked a few treatments each in the spa before leaving which finished off the trip perfectly. Would def def recommend the dry flotation!! Will return & recommend. Hoping to purchase vouchers as Christmas presents for family members.

Dear Heartthespa69
Firstly our sincere thanks for returning to Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa, I am delighted to hear that we have restored your faith in us and shown the level of service we know we can provide.
Many thanks for your great feedback and great detail on points of service, it's good to know that the little things which matter most were remembered during your stay.
I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your dining experience in The Ivy Restaurant specially as you were not entirely satisfied on your previous stay. We recently re- launched The Ivy with gorgeous new decor and a fantastic new menu choice and have also recently been awarded 2 AA rosettes which we are delighted with so it great to receive such lovely comments to confirm this. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed An Seoid Spa facilities and in particular the dry floatation treatment as you mentioned. I do hope you left refreshed and revitalised. Your kind words on our team is much appreciated and I will ensure to pass on. Our gift vouchers are indeed a popular Christmas present, they can be purchased for any monetary value or you can choose from a selection of packages.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Best Wishes

My wife and I stayed here last weekend as a one night getaway from the kids. The layout is well considered and it melds the old with the new in a seamless manner.
Check in was quick and hassle free and I was struck by the smiling manner of all staff. The room was spacious and clean and had all mod cons including WiFi.
The use of the spa facilities cost extra on top of the room and board cost (10euro) which I thought was a bit odd as I've assumed that your room rate would cover you for the cost of using the facilities (obviously excluding spa treatments) but it was worth the visit as the pool and hot tub was quite relaxing even though the view from the hot tub could be improved by landscaping and planting a few trees to block the view from neighboring apartments.
Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and set us up nicely for the day.
All in all, a very nice hotel and I would return with eager anticipation.

Dear JoeBo1
Thank you for your nice comments on our rooms, we pride ourselves with a reputation for high standards of housekeeping and comfort so it great to receive such wonderful feedback to confirm this. We are blessed with a great team of longstanding members of staff and we endeavour to spread that friendly warm culture throughout the hotel, I will ensure to pass on your kind words to the rest of the team. Regarding the charge to use the thermal suite, this is a recent introduction. We feel that to maintain the standards throughout the facility and to better manage the number of people who wish to use the thermal suite, the charge is necessary. We believe that €10 per room per stay is good value for the facilities on offer. Some other properties with spas in Ireland also charge for use of their thermal suites. We take on board your comments reference the hot tub views. It is great to know that our fresh breakfast is particularly appreciated ,we try to use local fresh ingredients where we can to ensure all our guests needs & tastes are catered for. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Stayed here for one night, the day before returning to Salt Lake City in order not to have to enter the busy city of Dublin and then get up and exit Dublin to the Airport.

This hotel is one of the very nicest hotels we stayed during our 12 day stay in Ireland. It is like a Castle in that it is located on Castle like grounds a mile or so from the the nearest town. I would have liked to dined in their highly rated dining rooms but it was entirely booked by some bus companies the night we stayed there. We could have had dinner at 9 PM but that is too late for most of us folks out west, in great desert State of Utah.

Dear RobertW34
Many thanks for your positive review of your stay with us at Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa, your feedback is appreciated. Our location is indeed ideal as we are in a rural setting yet on Dublin's doorstep and within close proximity to all the amenities the city has to offer. Originally there was a castle here on the grounds, however this was destroyed by Cromwell and the first part of the present day building was built at the start of the 1700’s, in a mansion style, and has always retained the name of Dunboyne Castle. You can still see remains of the castle structure in the grounds at the front of the hotel. I apologise that our restaurant was unable to accommodate you on this occasion, our restaurant is indeed very popular on a regular basis which is why we always recommend to our guests that reservations be made well in advance. If you are back travelling in Ireland again, please do come and see us again and we will ensure you are looked after . We wish you a safe trip home.
Kind Regards

I stayed at the dunboyne castle hotel & spa for one night recently & I would really love to go back soon! Everything was flawless - from the service level at check in to the immaculate rooms, beautiful food, nice surroundings and the spa facilities are also excellent & offer very good value treatments. It's one of the best hotels I've stayed in, in Ireland & I would recommend it whole heartedly.

Although only a one night break, from start to finish it was fabulous! The setting of the hotel is lovely, off the main road but surrounded by woodland and green open space. The main entrance and reception is modern and a beautiful open space. Check-in was dealt with efficiently by really pleasant staff.
Our room was at the side of the hotel overlooking green open space and had a small balcony. The rooms was beautifully decorated, spacious and spotless!
The bar area was open and airy but furnished with really comfy settees, where we enjoyed a Guinness on Arthur's Day!
The hotel Spa was excellent! The pool area was very relaxing with plenty to fill your time. Sauna, steam room, showers, heated lounging beds, loungers, seating, magazines etc, etc! The outdoor hot tub is fantastic too! It overlooks the garden and is just perfect! There was a fantastic amount of spa treatments on offer. We enjoyed the hydrojet dry water bed, a massage bed using high powered water jets, without getting wet. An excellent massage!
We dined in the hotel restaurant and what an experience. The staff are first class, courteous and attentive. The setting was great. We had an alcove table, which afforded us extra privacy. The food was excellent, from starters to desserts, everything was perfect and not expensive.
All in all, a wonderful short break, which I have no hesitation in highly recommending and look forward to repeating!

Stayed here for two nights for a family gathering recently. Lovely bright relaxing public areas. Rooms nicely furnished and quiet (graduation balls there on both nights and didn't hear a thing).

The staff were the main attraction though. Ciara on reception was friendly accommodating and informative throughout our stay. Bobby in the bar was very entertaining and Gabriella in the Ivy Room was the perfect hostess. All the breakfast staff greet you with a huge welcome in the mornings.

Defo recommend a short break there. Unbelievable value for money. Food was surprisingly good both nights. Spa needs a little tlc but fine also. We hope to get back again some time.
